Johnnie, please believe me , my heart is rapidly beating, and I don’t cry but very very seldom!! But I have the beginning of tears !! War is truly hell!!! You guys are as good as helliawood your talent is showing!! Thank you for sharing a glimpse of history!! And , part of me is yankee so .. again thanks and I especially loved the report of the prayer and the well!! Love to you guys and y’all. Anna mae
Thank you for sharing. I just recently learned my great great grandfather was held at Andersonville. Allen Cook Private 7th Regiment Michigan Volunteer Cavalry. He was captured at Trevilian station. Thank you again for sharing. I learned some interesting facts.
Nice video. I did an entire film (Civil War Prisons - An American Tragedy) on all the prisons. My G G Grandfather, Corporal George Garman, 36 Pa. Volunteers survived Andersonville.
Great video. I would love to go visit that place. You know would be awesome if they made 45 life-size statues in Placed them inside that area so you could really see what that would be like.
Great production value. You have a right to be proud. Most You Tubers have claustrophobic tight shoots. This perspective does not facilitate the telling of most historical narratives. The first time I ever had a sense of the Andersonville prison. Most tell compelling narratives but the videos are akin to some dude standing in his back yard.
Thanks!! That's what we need, an in-house reviewer! Give me a comment or opinion on the rest of them, please! Your opinion is more valid than a lot of others!! ;)
No gimbal yet. But we're working on the camera and gimbal. Right now, just our new Hero7 GoPro (when it's attached to the windshield) and my iPhone Xs Max (GREAT camera in it!).
You might want to get a microphone to attach to GoPro and a wind shield for it. I did notice audio drifting in and out while you were shooting. Also gimbal would have helped England video while watching the Royal Band. I am not trying to be critical, just offering suggestions.😃
Yep, a gimbal would have helped in England (if I'd known what that was then!), but what you couldn't see was that I was having to hold it (no tripod or stable place to hold the phone up against) and the wind was blowing SSOO briskly that even my hair was standing up on one side! And it was raining about half the time, fiercely! Once I could wiggle up to the gate itself, I could hold my phone against one of the rails and it stabilized it some, but not completely. And when we did the Andersonville videos, we didn't have external mics yet. We do now. MAYBE we'll get better at this!
You are wrong. When the prison was in operation it was ALL Sumter county. Post war ...the prison grounds and national park is in Macon county ENTIRELY. The town of Andersonville however is in Sumter county.
all these videos about andersonville and how bad it was but you never see them about northern prisons like elmira(hellmira) in new york or camp douglas in chicago illinois they were just as bad only the north had the means to treat their prisoners better but didnt.
Correction. Robert Ould Confederate in charge of exchanges refused to exchange the colored troops equally as white soldiers saying " The south would die in its last ditch " before exchanging them. Lincoln was not going to exchange white soldiers only to let the colored to rot and die.
Lincoln did not stop the exchanges. Confederate in charge of exchanges General Robert Ould refused to exchange colored prisoners saying " The south would die in its last ditch " before exchanging the usct. It was he who refused to exchange ALL union prisoners
