Omar, i’ve always stood on the side of “they should have intermixed the crossovers.” I get why they did it as far as getting an uninterrupted story, but here is why I think that is semi-bs: Most people who would buy this expensive book are collectors and completist types. We aren’t the casual group who wants the barebones story, and even if people did, they can just buy the damn tpb which has that experience! I’ve read these events barebones a few times and would love that entire experience, and if i didn’t like an issue...just skip it! It seems a bit lazy for them to say “well that won’t work, some of the issues take place in between panels” or “you can’t really place that here because of spoiler X” etc....it’s like, just do the best you can! Comic lovers love maps of issues, we would prefer that. Now you will have people that look up legit reading orders and flipping back and forth /endrant and still bought 😎
Inb4 “it would prolong the story” ...yes, that is exactly what I want, I freakin’ love those crossovers...silver surfer imagining he and thanos as medieval knights jousting? Thanos getting in surfer’s head before he dashes to take the gauntlet? Put that shiznit in there! This wasn’t a conversation for other “convoluted” omnis, was it? Lol
hahaha best part of all this is the final line. :) I'm with you though. That's why I like the FF, Spidey and X-men omnis since this is what they do in those books.
I made sure to pick this one up since it's collects the complete arc. I don' have the Infinity Gauntlet omnibus though but I decided to settle for the trade paperback and the Silver Surfer Epic Collections to collect the material.
Those Silver Surfer Epics are great. I really need to get on those, I know the first one is out of print, but it just collects stuff from Fantastic Four early appearances.
@@NearMintCondition Right. Glad I picked up that Epic before it went out of print. Same with the X-men and Iron Man volume 1 Epics. I definitely prefer the omnibus editions overall if they are in print I try to snatch them up which is why I love watching these videos about omnibus books. I opted for the Silver Surfer Epics since the original omnibus volume is quite a whale and not sure how likely it will get a reprint and at the time it was my only option for reading the Silver Surfer. I also picked up the Fantastic Four volumes at a later time. I don't mind if they double dip a bit. It's nice to have the runs in consecutive order for each character or series.
@@NearMintCondition Haha thanks man! By the way I'm glad I found your channel, as you've probably seen I've been commenting a lot on your vids lately, because I've been getting really into comics. Glad you guys take the time to reply to these!
@@NearMintCondition Yes I heard about the infamous Spider-Verse collected edition... what a shame really. But nonetheless, if you think its (Infinity War) decent enough for an average casual reader, I'm happy to order it next week ;)
I am really, REALLY irritated that they didn't put the Warlock and the Infinity watch issues in with the main mini. It's designed to be read that way. It's not just an extra like the rest of them... Really disappointing. I'm going to need to add notes at the end of every damn issue for which page to turn to. Even the Infinity Watch omni's order was better than this.
Thank you so much for watching. I have thought often about making videos like the topic you are asking about. It really depends on what you like. What type of story and characters you like. We can go from there.
NinghtDark for Batman I would recommend Batman Year one, Batman by Snyder and Capullo Volume 1 or Batman Long Halloween. Events are a little trickier since they are loosely based on the comics. But it sounds like you like Epic stories. JUstice League Tower of Babel, Kurt Buziek’ Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy by Abnett and Lanning, Old Man Logan and Uncanny X-men by Claremont and Byrne.
Hey Omar, have you compared these with the Thanos War: Infinity Origins Omnibus? I'm interested in getting the whole Infinity Stone series but I'm worried about double-dipping because of formatting issues. Is the Infinity box set really the best way to get the entire Infinity run full stop or are there extra omnibi to get?
It's a shame if people remember Mark Gruenwald's run for how bad it got at the end with awful crap like Cap Wolf, because the early years of his run were great with stories like the Serpent Society and Scourge ones. Seems like if a writer stays on a title too long they get pretty bad towards the end. It definitely happened to Gruenwald on Cap and it even happened a bit to PAD on The Hulk and Claremont on X-Men.
@@ashleysmith640 Would take a few omnis to collect all the Gruenwald issues but would love it if Marvel put them out especially his first few years on Cap which are so damn good. Marvel did put out an omni of his Squadron Supreme run which is very underrated.
@@davegould7016 I mean, there have definitely been some worse stories over the years, but those first several years of Mark Gruenwald were some of my favorite Cap stories ever and Cap-Wolf doesn't really stand up to that. The other Cap comics I've enjoyed as much as Gruenwald's best stuff on Cap is Ed Brubaker and Steve Eptings and J. M. DeMatteis and Mike Zeck's. Oh, and Mark Waid and Ron Garney was good too.
I'm new to the whole comics thing. So this collects every piece of "The Infinity Gauntlet" story line right? Like theres no other tie ins and are there any issues that are in the same universe as this story line?
Michael, most of the time the books are designed by someone who knows when these events took place. Every once in a while you get something like Spider-verse where part 1 and 3 are in the front, but part 2 is in the back. I suggest reading the miniseries first. There is nothing wrong with reading that first and then moving on to the other books. I would have loved it if they had mapped it out with the Infinity Watch books between IW issues, but I'm not the collections editor.
If you have the Gauntlet Box set you won't need this omnibus. But if you want to start at the beginning with Thanos' story. Get the Thanos Infinity Origin omnibus.
@@NearMintCondition one other q if ok.i will be getting marvel secret wars battle set too.. but their is a.new.one called earths mightiest heroes...does it matter if i get one or the other..or are they nothing to do with each? Ta
Near Mint Condition That's very odd. I've seen a different cover on Amazon. It was similar to this cover but the background was white and it was the original artwork.
You ABSOLUTLY need the Gauntlet before this book otherwise the Gauntlet won't make as much sense. Strongly, STRONGLY recommended that you read/get the gauntlet first. It is also WAAAAAAY better although this is still enjoyable gauntlet knocks it out of the water.
I skipped on it but I really want that death and return of superman omnibus should I get it? While it's on sale? Or wait? Not so into infinity war but thx for another great Omar review like only you can do. This isn't sex stop crying. LOL Later Omar and have a wonderful weekend.
Thinking of getting the infinity gauntlet omnibus and infinity war omni and the new thanos prequel omni over the infinity gauntlet box set but still a tough decision haha
MARVEL was heavy into Cross-over, Wasn't really into Buying so many titles , That really were not necessary, So Now that it's Printed on a "Omnibus size" It's still Not in it's proper Order? I'll wait till it in Ollies Bargain, Drop the price to $5-dollars it will be there when the Specialty Comic Book Stores Close Down.
