I really love all of the songs that Ella and The Ink Spots recorded together! Both she and the Ink Spots were hugely successful on their own, but together they don’t get any better than this. There’s nothing like the sound of Bill Kenny’s (lead singer for the Ink Spots) voice. He has one of the most recognizable voices. Thanks very much for this exceptional request, Romello, and for your happy reaction, Harri.
Such a beautiful collaboration released in 1950. The Ink Spots performed R&B, R&R and Doo-Wop during the 30's and 40's with success. Ella's voice is uunbeatable. The purity in her tone, her absolute pitch and impeccable diction, along with her horn-like improvisional ability, used particularly in her Scat singing, earned her the title First Lady of Song, Queen of Jazz and Lady Ella. ❤ Just a wonderful melody, with old time class, great instrumentation and memorable vocals. Great reaction Handsome Harri. ❤❤ Thanks Romello, beautiful. 👏👏 Cheers from Canada ❤❤🇨🇦🇨🇦
Thanks very much, as always, Mary. I think that when the Ink Spots first started recording in the 30s they were considered a jazz vocal group. They were ahead of The Mills Brothers and other vocal groups. They were very versatile, though, as you’ve noted. Great vocal group that influenced many who followed, especially the Platters, etc. Hi 👋🏼 to Canada 🇨🇦 🎉
@iandowney4630 Hi Ian. The Ink Spots and Ella, such a magical time in music. A trip back in time, priceless. Love the classics, makes me feel so young again. Have a wonderful day. 🙋♀️🙋♀️🇨🇦🇨🇦🎶🎶
@@marybaillie8907I agree 💯 percent! I wish we were able to take a time machine back to that era… it would be a blast 💥🎶🎉 Hope you have a fabulous day 🤗✌🏼
"I'm Making Believe" is another gem from Ella Fitzgerald and The Ink Spots. This is great, I'd never heard this before, "I Still Feel The Same About You" is going on my oldies list. Amazing how even with the limits of the recording technology, these songs are timeless. Love your reactions, such eclectic taste in music, I love it.
I’m surprised that Harri was not familiar with the Ink Spots. I think one of their songs, “If I Didn’t Care”, was used in the movie “Shawshank Redemption”. Anyway, the Ella/Ink Spots collaborations were wonderful! This was a wonderful submission and reaction. Thanks Harri and Romello 🌸💐✌️
I met one of the ink spots. He was a patient where I worked at a hospital in Cincinnati. I was rude enough to not believe him. Bless his heart he came back to prove it to me. Of course I felt like a fool and was humbled at the same time. What a nice man. What a gentleman he was.
Love the Ink Spots! There are certainly much better quality recordings out there, please check them out further. Thanks for your honest and enthusiastic reactions, much appreciated!
my dad was an opra singer in WW2 he would singer for the troops when he was in Greece he went into a recording shop and back in those days you could make your own record recordings you go in the booth sing your and when done you walk out with your record my dad made 5 recording that he said when he walked out onto the street he didn't know in but while he was recording the lady at the counter had put a speaker outside on the foot path so when he stepped outside there was over 100 people standing there and the applauded him I don't have his records any more I know me and my brother broke 1 fighting over it I was about 4 I remember seeing my dads name on the my last name on I wish I understood that those records were 1 of it's kind I should say 5 of its kind but listening to his music and I couldn't resist Billie Holiday 😊
A few days ago I decided to look up a song I'd saved in one of my playlists ( which RU-vid seems to have hidden) Then I saw this, and was pleased to find it was a bit better than I'd expected. . . The song I was looking for was recorded in the same era. It's called "Hearts of Stone"; the group I'm familiar with is the charms, but I found a video of the Jewels, which I think is a bit better. . . Anyway, I hope you take time to listen to it
