The Inkopolis DLC isn't great. | Splatoon 3 

I was pretty disappointed as well. I was expecting more to be done with Inkopolis, but it honestly felt like they just cashed in on nostalgia. And if you're not going to have Callie and Marie host the news in Inkopolis, then why even have them in their studio? On the plus side, Annie and Spyke got some pretty snazzy redesigns, they look better than ever.

It's weird they call it 'Wave 1'/'Wave 2', because Inkopolis and Side Order are not of equal size/quality (I hope)

To be completely honest, I like the Splatoon 3 plaza more! Inkopolis just doesn’t compare to the size and scale of the city. I was also kinda hoping the minigames from 1 would also return. I’ve always wanted to try Squid Jump. I hope side order gives us something a bit more in quality. Yippee, more Nack content! Still waiting on that video lol. Also, it’s sad to see the beyblade outro gone lol. (Please help us we want out of the basement)

And the fact that the Callie and Marie amiibos don't do performances like in Splat 1 is so disappointing, because back then you can emulate a splatfest without a real splatfest, and even have them play their solos.

I never played Splatoon 1 because I didn't know it was a thing at the time, but I still feel the same as you do. I feel like it was just made as a placeholder so people wouldn't be upset with the wait for Side Order. I thought some of the things were cool, but a lot of the more important things that they didn't add (new lobby and squid sisters) are glaring and it just doesn't make much sense to me as to why they didn't take the time to add these. Even just a reskin of Splatoon 3's lobby so the holograms wouldn't be messed up.

Overall, i played splatoon 1 more then 2 and 3 combined, but the dlc map just feels like a quick nostalgia trip, without any actual new gamplay features, this could have been solved by re-adding the arcade machine, or re-adding some of the old maps (i am more by-ist for the arcade machine tho since its more fun)

The worst part is the new shoe shopkeeper. He is so ugly, honestly I would have been happier just getting Crusty Sean back.

Another thing they could have done is you go into the story mode area where you find captain 3 talk to you about what their life story + extra lore for her. Since she's quiet you could talk to her once and then win a certain amount of turf war games then come back and she would say more. Then after a while she would become friends with you. Kinda like the Big blue guy in Animal crossing's Dlc.

I was expecting a relive the Captains memories or something and having the chance to play the story mode of Splatoon 1 since a lot of us missed out on it since we didn’t get a Wii U

I feel like if when you first open the game in inkopolis and the squid sisters would do a quick news report like this: “Hello everybody! We’re Coming out of retirement to perform concerts for you guys right here in inkopolis plaza! Unfortunately, for news casts, we’re gonna pass it to our employees, deepcut.” And then deepcut would to the news from then on. So that would add that little extra world building by having context for why the squid sisters are here in the first place, while also not having to ride hundreds of dialogue for news for the squid sisters. Idk why, but that would justify the inkopolis dlc for me

honestly I was so put off by the dlc that I outright decided not to buy it until side order comes out. like, no shade to everyone else who got it! I hope you're having a good time! but personally I didn't feel like I'd get Anything from it. if I wanted to see the plaza I'd just boot up my wii u yk? ://

Yeah, disappointed is a pretty good word for it... I, for my part, really hoped to see Calli and Mari back as host, even they technically had quit their job there. That was also why I was glad to see their Splatoon 1 Outfits again, because it felt for me, that they finally came back, after almost 8 years... then I restarted the game and was greeted by Shiver/Freye/Big man. Another thing is that I found it sad that the game lobby's still the Splatoon 3 version, which was one of the main reasons I was eager for the DLC, I like that you can now test you weapons while waiting for the game to beginn, but I loved just to wait and watching how names come in and go, as it was in the first two titles. Oh and a smaller thing is that it's a shame that the Squid Jump Game still didn't came back. It was to be expected since the beginning, but there was still hope that they'll do a bit more

Great video, however one thing I want to point is out is that the outfits Callie and Marie wear in RotM are supposed to be they’re agent/cold weather/research gear, and the colors are meant to align with Agent 3’s since they’re meant to be on the “same team”. But yeah I didn’t even by the DLC yet because I’m waiting on Side Order, and I hope they take all their time with Side Order like they did with OE and RotM

They could've added squid jump the story mode the new interior of buildings and the news that was what I was expecting.

honestly it was thinking the Squid Sisters would host. if the first Wave of the DLC was intended for nostalgia then the squid sisters hosting would have really hit us

I actually thought the Squid Sisters were going to do the news, but was really sad when I found out they didn't Plus with it being a PAID DLC it should've offered more like a chance of Splatoon 1 music to play in battle, Squid Jump, Sheldon's splatoon 1 training room, different clothing items from Splatsville, but most importantly Battle Dojo 😭 Though I understand most decisions

Your outfit argument can be countered really easily tbh, the reason why theyre not used in Inkopolis is because those are their current agent outfits

i agree with everything youve said especially the news and the lobby/grizzco/shoal they could have kept the same overall shape and just redecorate and add some different designs in there to make it feel different or somethin one thing i dont agree with is that its lazy because making a whole plaza is certainly a lot of work they did have a lot of misopertunities but its not lazy

I was also disappointed. This was just a plaza reskin. I don’t think it’s worth it since it’s such a small dlc. I was hoping for more up but I just bought a reskin of the plaza. We’ll just have to wait for side order to come out to make it up. I was also expecting the option to play Splat 1 battle music in battles that would have been cool but we just got a jukebox sadly.

And to be honest, for someone who didn't play splatoon 1, this dlc doesn't add too much worth to be considering the price. I wouldn't even pay 5 dollars for this.... maybe 1 or 2 at most. Maybe they bundle these two DLC into one package because they don't see this first one as a worthy one. Maybe they are testing the market and see, with the bundle, how many are willing to buy something because of nostalgia VS how many will be buying something because of beings something new and worth it, as the side order expansion will be.

while i would argue its fine for five dollars especially considering what other games charge for things like weapon skins yeah i think it was kind of underwhelming when it came out. for starters they should've brought inkopolis news back. it really feels like the squid sisters are just kind of there when they don't really do anything besides wave to the player and sing during splat fests. second a short and basic story mode wouldn't have hurt. something like octavio enlisting the help of new agent 3 to clean the fuzzy ooze from octovalley. they could even just use the same levels from splatoon 1. yeah some critics with sticks up their asses would complain about it not being octo expansion quality but I'm sure both new players and veterans would really appreciate even a simple plot like this especialy considering the fact that we don't have access to any kind of story mode in the plaza. my critiques aside I'm not against a dlc that is a hub world set in inkopolis. it really makes it feel like the splatoon we all know and love. but it really feels like they did the bare minimum they could have done, especially considering that it doesn't look like the splatoon 1 servers will be open for much longer.
