The Inner Hebrides - Scotland's Island Paradise | Nature Documentary
Watch 'England's Most Beautiful Destination: The Lake District' here: • England's Most Beautif...
The Inner Hebrides surprise with green hills, fine sandy beaches and a mild climate, at least as far as Scottish conditions allow. This is ensured by the currents of the Gulf Stream, as well as the Scottish archipelago being protected by its sister islands, which belong to the Outer Hebrides. More than half of the almost 80 islands are uninhabited. Loneliness has made the people rather inventive.
On Tiree Island, mathematics, history and physics from the mainland arrive in the classroom per mouseclick. Dr Mauvis Gore and Prof. Rupert Ormond cast off from the island of Mull, after setting a course to encounter a basking shark. The cetohinus maximus is the world's second largest fish and the two scientists are absolutely convinced that the waters surrounding the Mull constitute the mating grounds for the basking sharks.
A logistical challenge takes place on the Isle of Easdale each September. Then, around 400 people populate the tiny slate island. Donals "Mellon" Melville organises the World Skimming Championships, a World Cup in jumping stones. This is all about the distance they are thrown and they must only hop above the water twice.

Enjoy!

This is an amazing documentary which brought back many happy memories for me. First the tiny little ferry over to Skye. For anyone going to Skye THIS is the way to get there....NOT that blasted bridge! When the ferry docks at Skye there is only one tiny B road out and the scenery is magnificent. I also toured all the Outer Hebrides in a motorhome one year and on the return journey, opted to spend a few days on Tiree.

Quite funny video from a hungarian perspective about rock throwing. You guys should know about rock throwing here, this is the first thing what your dad teaches you, he is going to show you first at ANY size of water! Even if it is a river or a small pond, or a big lake, it doesn't matter, we instantly start throwing rocks at from age when you can walk on your own two feet. Here, where I grew up 7 jumps with a rock on water was the entry level for cool...:D Of course I was ok with seven :D

that poor kid... only one in school and still has to wear the school uniform principle/mom/janitor/counselor/teacher: must have told him 'now if we let you get away with it the younger children will expect it too, now 2x4 is... did you clean your room?

"Alistair Maclean" would not be pronounced "mack leen" but "Mac LANE". And when you talk about an island that is the most distant you say "farthest" not "furthest". Far/Farther/Farthest are used when talking about actual physical distance of something. "Further/Furthest" refer to imagined distance, as in "After the argument, they were the furthest they had ever been from loving each other."

Why? Sounds kinda wonderful to me. Maybe not the whole year round simply because I’m used to a different life pace but for a few months out of the year - hell yeah.
