I grew up mormon, we were all pressued constantly to use social media as a missionary tool. I had youth leaders tell me that was the only valid reason to have social media in the first place. Mormon influencers cannot divorce their religion from their influencing.
I grew up in an independent Christian church and it was the same way. Leaders, especially youth leaders, would make us feel bad if we weren't constantly pushing Christianity. They would make us think our friends would go to hell if we didn't convert them.
It's so crazy to me when Christians are so persistent in preaching their beliefs to others. As if, the Bible doesn't give warning about people doing that... 🤷♀️🤡
Utah Exmo here! Mormon wives with this lifestyle are some of the most burnt out people. My mother is a stay-at-home mom who does make everything from scratch, gluten free, yeast free and basically just crunchy mom hahaha. She homeschools my brothers as well, has a volunteer job (calling) in our church and is consistently incredibly exhausted. She has a degree that she can use if need be, but I can imagine the feeling or being trapped in such an exhausting lifestyle.
Of course the kids "absolutely devoured" that grilled cheese. They were already hungry and had to wait over 2 1/2 hours before being fed! I really hope I'm wrong and she asks them well in advance what they want. The problem with that is, most adults aren't going to know what to say to "What do you want for lunch" at 9AM, nevermind a couple of toddlers.
It's normal to ask kids a day in advance what they want to have for lunch. (Heck, it would even be normal to just make them whatever you want.) This kind of outrage over her content, I don't get.
I always knew what I'd like to eat. To be honest, I was a vacuum as a child. I'd eat anything like it was the best meal I'd ever had. Unless it had onion, garlic, or mushy cooked tomatoes or zucchini. Other than that, everything was delicious.
I'm sorry, but calling those mini cookies "cereal" is harmful all on its own. 🤣 Fr, when she was making the cheese, I expected her to make those kids wait 6 mos for their sandwiches! Lmao🤣
@miniz1038 Dude, those are dessert maskerading as breakfast. Same goes for all those other kid "cereals." Lucky Charms (marshmellows in a box), cocoa puffs (chocolate in a box), frosted flakes (lit sugar in a box), etc...
Let's also talk about how crazy it is to have four kids in a household at 23. Most 23 yos can't even afford to live on their own, let alone with four kids. Either she's rich or her husband is much older and rich. It's not realistic for 99 percent of people. And you can NOT tell me they don't have a house keeper who cleans up after she's done baking her cheese sandwich or whatever.
Well, she's been a model since age 14, her husband has been a model since age 10, and they're Mormon (i.e. get put into high-paying jobs through church connections). Her husband is only 3 years older than her. Also, his mum and three sisters are all models, too. That family really must have won the genetic lottery.
why isn't anyone talking about how her videos are obviously fake? not in the way that she doesn't cook what she says she cooks, but in the way they are framed. it is so ridiculous that I thought it was satire at first. it has to be conscious, right? she isn't actually trying to convince anyone that she made fricking mozzarella and butter before lunch, she just exaggerates for virality's sake, right? RIGHT?
She said herself that tiktok is another source of income for her and that she's not a "trad wife icon" when she's making a video she's working. People are honestly attacking this woman for no reason because people can't seem to comprehend that tiktok is not reality and was never meant to be for the most part
@@idkthinkofsomething_0611it's because the main demographic for TikTok are kids. I can't wait for certain bills to pass so that kids' accounts start getting deleted and people like this won't be talked about as much because people will see that it's just all for the bag
Butter and mozzarella are actually very easy to make and you 100% could easily make them in the morning before lunch, mozzarella only takes like 30 min to make its the easiest and quickest cheese to make, and butter is the same, you just put it in the mixer if you have one and it does itself in also less than 30 min. You shouldn't call something out as fake just because you dont know how its made.
Please tell me I'm not the only one that cringed when she made the cereals while wearing those long, loose sleeves! Did that exactly one time, almost set my shirt on fire. Never again!
While I'm with y'all on a lot of things, it's not the doing everything from scratch part. German's perspective here: We very often make our own bread, cheese, pasta, pesto and making butter from scratch is one of my fondest childhood memories. My parents worked full time and still used to make a lot of stuff from scratch. So to be honest, it's more shocking how many people are shocked by her making stuff from scratch to me :D
I totally agree with you. I think it’s because as Americans we’re so far removed from the food system that we don’t understand how easy it is to make so many things from scratch. We’re kind of taught you have to buy butter, bread , sour cream, etc. Not you can make all of these with basic ingredients because that would cut into the bottom line of the companies making all the unnecessary stuff and adding chemicals to it. I think a lot of Americans think cooking from scratch is a lot harder and more time consuming than it actually is. It’s also like the cheapest way to feed your family 😩
I probably wouldn't have anything to say if it was her just cooking. But her involvement with mormonizism/her being so young with so many kids.. I know what this is. Her content is the romantization of strict religious traditionalism.- & if the girls really knew what this lifestyle was like, no one would be a part of it. Especially if only rich people can live that way anyway. Its just much more likely an average person who is influenced by this will regret this.
my question is- even if you want things to be made from scratch- why don’t you just make things in bulk so you dont have to have your kids wait HOURS to eat?
Yeah i work with kids that are her kids age and they usaly just grabbed the sandwich you are making for them away from you. Because they think you take to long, and we don't make bread, pickels, cheese and peanutbutter like she does we just buy it from the supermarket like all non-rich people do
I’ve always told me daughter you must have a plan B. This isn’t because men suck or your marriage will fail but hello what happens if your husband drops dead unexpectedly? You should have a back up plan for a number of reasons but death is a real possibility.
I have a feeling she doesn't show cleaning because they seem rich enough to just have maids clean everything, I have made everything she did in the videos before (besides the tiny cookies) and even when I was unemployed with all the time in the world I ended up eating hours later than when I started. those toddlers won't even remember asking for food by the time they eat lol
i think its crazy that people believe this. 'i make my kids breakfast from scratch' by the time they ate it would be lunch time and no toddler is patiently waiting for food
that poor lady had to work years and years with a guy for over 20+ something and didn't get even a bank account and basically wasted her many years for nothing and got nothing out from it and she couldn´t get a degree and etc is making me so mad and sad for her like wtf
The irony of all this is a lot of real trad wives back in the days were depressed alcoholics. They had nothing to live for but to make sure the house is presentable for your husband and have his meal ready for when he comes home. Personally, not for me. Guess I'm just too ambitious for that. Then again I don't want to get married or have kids, so I'm not the target audience 😅
One of the things about her that irritates me the most is that I don’t see a lot of people talk about is that she’s heavily pregnant in these videos 😭 I’m pregnant right now and I can’t stand on my feet for more than 10 mins without back and leg/foot pain, swelling, etc. I couldn’t imagine doing it for hours a day to cook everything from scratch. Her videos are just so incredibly unrealistic 😭
This is unsettling to say the least. This feels like what AI would generate if you put in the key words "pregnant" "luxury" "cooking" and "homemade" into it. It's giving uncanny valley and her monotone, lifeless, ASMR voice only makes it worse.😬
I think that’s what annoys me. I just can’t stand her voice. It does sound like a robot is talking to me. I also worry that young girls will think this is real. That they don’t understand only wealthy people can have access to this kind of lifestyle.
@@ahmadalimi9784 Yes that is true but she is an influencer. It's her job to influence the young and impressional. They might get into a situation that happens time and time again. Where they rely on another person for their financial indepedance. Which is very dangerous because it makes it difficult to leave.
@nikkichavez8418 she is an influencer certainly but other people still have their own autonomy. She cannot be expected and should not be expected to change her life or try to portray it as negative just for the benefit of others. Furthermore, in her case she does not solely rely on lucky for her finances, aside from the money she gets from her videos she is also, and has been since she was 14, a model.
Sometimes I do fantasize of such life (no kids tho), being pampered and cooking looong meals but in the end is something that might be fixed with a couple of days off work. Nothing compares to the feel I had when I received my first check and could manage my own money without my family easily taking it away (we've had hard times in which my parents would take my money without my consent), two years into living on my own, I love the peace this independence allows me to experience
I don't think she even really is the one who actually cooks. Im betting she has professional chefs, that are making all that food or their actual meals in the background.
I regularly make our local flat bread (much easier than what she made) and cheese and pretty much my region's version of everything she's making and have been for much longer than her (I'm a decade older and have been cooking since 13). Proof she isn't even cooking in the videos: - no way would her dress be that pristine - long sleeves?? - such small amounts?? - she's not putting any "elbow grease" into her cooking, seriously my toddler nephews cook like her 😂. - those hands and nails are not a cook's and I do my nails and take care of my hands. - and doing all that _that_ pregnant? Oh hell no even just chronically ill and disabled but I couldn't even at my healthiest times and I'm not lazy.
@@availanilashe's dressing for videos and doesn't cook complex meals all the time. She also go out for fast food when she doesn't want to cook, nothing she does is impossible
I don't think everyone is wistfully envying her. I find her infuriating. Seriously, thinks she is perfect but is so disconnected. Their kids names make me feel like they need help. Rumble? She listed new baby names including Bubble. WTF. I also feel like people that have their hands full such as single moms etc, won't all have a positive / dreamy reaction to this.
Yeah, me too. I'm not a mom nor do i aspire to be one, and i def dont envy her lifestyle or at least the lifestyle she portrays (superpregnant and tired but making meals for her husband and kids). I think im mostly annoyed with the performative way she romantisizes being a mom, i just dont vibe with the obvsly made up stories of "this morning" and the full glam makeup, clean girl aesthetic. And the kids names had me rolling on the floor. So out of touch.
TBH, my major complaint is that she allegedly, according to herself, makes this stuff when her kids ask for it... All of those tasks take at least an hour to several hours... Like Girliepop, this needs to all be prepared in advance to pull out whenever needed... Like a weekend long food prep for the week... Like if she isn't literally doing this right as her kids ask, then maybe she should word it as "My kids LOVE homemade grilled cheese, so I am preparing this mozzarella and bread, coz I know my kiddos will ask for this during the week!" or something- The other thing - yea, the whole quitting an entire career for a man and living rich and being entirely tone-deaf is also a big stinking issue. And the religious brainwashing
I grew up in a slightly more progressive Mormon church than most, so most of the mothers in my church were teachers. When I said I wanted to go to college to be a doctor the Bishop looked 12 yr old me in the eye and said I could choose between being a teacher and a nurse. Because if I was a nurse or teacher I could work at the church and be prepared for when I have my own kids. They get you young and promise you will be taken care of, as long as you follow the rules. Don’t worry about your future, God has it planned out for you. Don’t question the men in your life, they will bring you to salvation.
Let me guess: Then when your husband abandons you, it's all your own fault and there's nothing in the way of financial or practical support from the people who persuaded you to put yourself in that dependent situation in the first place? (Basing this on the tiktok of the poor woman whose ex left his high-paying job so he wouldn't have to pay alimony.)
I am disabled person, and I am dependent to my partner, but we've talked about of this very openly. We have plans if stuff goes wrong. And I am studying to become a developer, because I cannot do anymore my old job lol. So yeah! Find your little ways to be independent, and don't be shy to talk about it, you are important, your ability to survive if things go wrong is important!!
It’s super wild for people to promote this lifestyle, especially when there’s a missionary-like motive behind it. But I also have to wonder how we’ve managed to create a society where people even _can_ be influenced by stuff like this. My parents really focused on teaching me that stuff on TV/in magazines is rarely 100% truthful and that while it can be inspirational, I shouldn’t compare (visible) results if the circumstances aren’t comparable to my own. It’s always been obvious to me that I can’t live a million dollar celebrity lifestyle on a ramen budget, so I didn’t feel bad about not being ripped, having hours each day to journal, make my own green juice or whatever the fad was at the time. The influencers have a responsibility to not be maliciously deceptive, but I think we also have a responsibility to be informed media consumers and not let ourselves be bamboozled so easily.
The way i felt my soul leave my body and it zooming back to 2018 when you said the name "Lucky Blue Smith" I had no idea that he is mormon and I had no idea that he is married now I only ever knew him from wattpad book covers
I've seen her say that she preps for the week. The videos of her cooking from scratch are definitely for the views only, I don't think the kids are waiting hours for cereal lol TikTok is not real life, we see what people want us to see. I love her recipes, I think she's a badass mom. Also, Lucky cooks too lol she doesnt glorify being a "trad wife". She has videos of her severe eczema, that is why she cooks from scratch.
Yeah, homemaking is a valid job if it's what both partners really want, but anyone getting into that situation needs to realize that there is zero job security. And anyone who thinks that alimony and child support are a safety net you can rely on should be aware that LOTS of men are very clever at getting away without paying. That lady who had to live in her car was in a very similar situation to my mother.
people are acting like the kids are starving for hours while she makes the food. but imo there's no way the food she makes on camera is what her kids actually asked for. like it's a setup right? she probably just makes what she wants to make that day and says her kids asked for it so it doesn't seem like she's wasting time for content. but what do i know
everytime i click on one of ur vids i physically and subconciously relax. The way you talk and the topics you cover make me feel like the world is gonna be okay!!!! Thank you for the safe space
I’m glad people like you cover these things because I absolutely do not want to be bothered watching this rubbish and other stuff on TikTok, but don’t like being left out of the joke.
Nara has said that she and Lucky aren't devout Mormons and are figuring out their faith and if they even want to follow it and she has also stated she makes food from scratch because of her sever eczema flaring up from food and it's calmer when she makes it herself. AND She has stated that she asked the kids in advance so there's no waiting on the food. The hate on her is crazy.
The way these husbands get to control their wife's life is the same reason why out grandparents' generation couldn't get divorced (even if the relationship was abusive or toxic). They would have been without income, home, qualifications... My heart hurts for the woman who was opening up about it. Also... Many families couldn't even live (comfortably or at all) off of one income alone. Having financial security at that age (or ever) is a thing of luck and obviously not doable for everyone.
The good looks really damn good and I agree with the thick slices of bread thing (bread is love, bread is life) but I can barely cook something that only takes about 25 minutes or so without complaining to myself
I'm pretty sure if someone handed me a grilled cheese full of green shit when I was a toddler I would have thrown a tantrum. I know for damn sure I've never liked pesto. But why do I get the feeling they have a nanny/housekeeper because she seems to have a lot of extra time for someone with kids.
okay but she’s also very open about how she works and everyone knows she’s a supermodel, you’re acting like she does a little modeling for fun but no she has a whole career lol
I've never heard if either of these ppl. I'm pretty sure that they have a maid and a nanny and its most likely why shes able to cook all her meals by scratch.
this is just her making content about what HER life is like bfr💀🙏 and what's wrong with being a trad wife/stay at home life. usually ur videos r good I think u should've thought about this more before posting
I don't think there's anything wrong with being a "traditional" stay at home wife/mom. What I do think is a problem is religion telling women their place in the world is at home in the kitchen. And that is absolutely what mormanism does.
First of all, I had 0 idea this person existed, but if they wnat to do this of their own free will, so be it; far be it from me to change their minds, but I agree that there needs to be a backup source of income in case things things go sour. Hell, in the Nara clip of her going around in the mall, I got envious of the Apple Store haul, because IT, but still. 2 things I always say to things like this: if I've said it once, I'll say it a million times, women should be able to do whatever the fuck they want & quit forcing religion down other people's throats. I deal with that on a daily basis, because Texas.
I can’t help but think that her kids choose increasingly simple meals (ex: cereal, grilled cheese, etc) bc their thinking: “There’s no way mom can take over 30 mins for this, we’re hungry now I just want the easiest thing.” But low and behold, their mom goes the extra mile and delivers a from scratch grilled cheese 3 hours later.
When I first started watching this, i was like, Where the heck are her kids while she is doing all this cooking? I was a stay at home mom and my kids were always around. I can almost guarantee she has in home help. nanny/ housekeeper. I think she does if that ring was real and she gets all that designer stuff on the regular! I would not consider myself a "trad wife." and she shouldn't either. There is nothing "traditional" about being rich. I was lucky enough I didn't have to work so my husband and i made the decision for me to stay at home. I was not forced to at all. But we struggled and built up some debt with normal bills. There were no designer shopping trips. It was hard. I would do it again without a second thought. Once they were old enough to go to school, I did get some "down time," but I love the relationship I have with my kids. they are 18 and 24 now. I feel sorry for the SAHM that you showed here. I guess the difference between us is I graduated from college, worked until I was 6 month pregnant with my first son at age 29. I didn't start popping out kids when I was barely an adult myself. I worked part time when my youngest was 14 (while they were in school) until last year when my boss retired. I'm 53 now and not interested in working, but I know I CAN, if i needed to.
Nara is not a stay at home mom she literally has a job as a model s,she never said she was a stay at home mom or tradwife,it's the internet that decided that for her😂
@@Katyloveheart hmm. that does matter. I hadn't heard of her before this video, so assumed, with the way this video was presented that she had retired from modeling.
My parents have been married for 36 years. My mom was a stay at home mom until she was in her 50s. My dad was military, retired after the 7th kid was born, then worked other jobs to make ends meet. Eventually my parents were able to afford for my dad to become the stay at home dad, and my mom went back to school and finished her BA. But they always had separate bank accounts, and my mom always had access to my dads. It was not until last year after my dad started getting social security in addition to his retirement, that my mom even considered paying someone else to clean the house. There are 11 kids, 6 still at home, and we live paycheck to paycheck. My mom works full time on her art, is technically still a stay at home mom, and works part time as a caregiver. Always have your own bank account.
Im ngl i don’t care if she’s mormon or a tradwife the way people treat her is beyond misogynistic… because others not having money to cook for their kids like the way she does is not HER problem lol
@@Ultra_Visu yes… i think this is just contributing to the problem of shaming women for what they choose to do in life, like have you seen some of these comments already? “I find her infuriating” how…
It just gives jealousy to me. Id be making everything from scratch if I wasn’t a slave to capitalism. No mom wants to make sourdough from scratch after working 45-50 hours a week. But if I had a bunch of free time that’s what I’d be doing 🤷🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️ other creators like Shann Bailee live a similar lifestyle but she doesn’t get criticized for it because she doesn’t mention religion on her tik tok
Tbh, I'd hate this life. BUT I want to be able to get to the point in my life, where I can give my gf a life similar to this. My gf gets sick easily and hates working. Right now, we can't afford a life fully on one income. Almost, but we're just not there yet. (We're also, only in our early twenties lol. We still have our lives ahead of us. And we dont want kids. Maybe fostering later on, but thats a later on thing.)
Cereal on its own is a garbage breakfast food with almost no nutritional value at all other than an ass load of sugar. But the advantage with shop bought cereal is that it's fortified with vitamins and minerals. If you make it yourself, you lose all that advantage.
He husband looks like he's ripping his look from grease? It's so unsettling and makes him have such a creepy vibe... am i the only one who got creepy vibes?
the shock i had when i realized that she’s the wife of lucky blue smith (tumblr darling and draco malfoy fancast of all time) is immeasurable. anyways they def have a housekeeper and she only does this for views but it’s still disturbing in a way? i think because it’s so disingenuous
I find it perplexing when some criticize Nara Smith, suggesting that her choices stem from a desire for financial gain or envy over her lifestyle. As an influencer, Nara is a role model for many, and her approach to cooking is rooted in personal necessity. She emphasizes preparing meals from scratch due to her struggles with severe eczema; certain foods can trigger breakouts. Her commitment to health not only benefits her but also ensures her children consume nutritious meals. It’s essential to recognize that cooking wholesome meals is not a negative practice-it's an admirable way to care for loved ones. Additionally, Nara often wears dresses in her videos, which could be due to sponsorships or simply her personal style. When she began her TikTok journey, her fashion content garnered attention, but her first cooking video, which featured scratch-made meals, resonated deeply with her audience. Regarding the notion that cooking cereal from scratch takes too long, even if it took an hour, it could simply be for meal prepping for the next day. For instance, cooking oatmeal usually requires about 10-15 minutes once you have the water or milk boiling, while more complex dishes might take 30-40 minutes. This demonstrates the practicality and efficiency of her cooking approach, which can be both nutritious and convenient. Sorry for the long yapping session; I just had to get this off my chest!😅🥲🥱
They are obviously a wealthy family so they most likely have a nanny or housekeeper and she probably makes these videos when the children are being watched. Im sure her time is scheduled in to make these videos. It's not spur of the moment like these videos lead us to believe.
She has said multiple times that she isn’t a trad wife, her lifestyle is glamorized because she’s on a steady income making money, as well as her also being a model. I get it can be perceived as harmful but it’s content that can be avoided if you personally don’t like it.
tbh i live in a 2 bedroom with a roommate during a housing crisis in my city working about 4 days a week, i make about CAD$30,000/year (i encourage you to be transparent about your income!) saving as much as possible for school because i never had a college fund and OMG i would NEVER EVER trade my life for that of nara smith. that lifestyle would kill me.
yeah I couldn't care less about those fancy lifestyle accounts. They have been around since the early instagram days and always will be. I won't lie, I fell for them a little as well when I was younger. Nowadays, I couldn't care less. It's all curated anyway and why should I care how someone else lives their day? I'm happy doing what I'm doing and fill my social media only with things that truly interest me, like art. No lifestyle nonsense. Also doing that posting and filming takes up time - It honestly sounds so boring and would drive me crazy.
I had no idea she was LDS! That makes so much more sense and from a formerly Christian perspective that type of rhetoric really validates the “prosperity gospel” belief which is so toxic. If I was a true believer and more pious God would bless me like her vibes
Considering the size of that diamond, they may make enough to hire a cleaning service. Her lifestyle certainly isn't the usual trad wife lifestyle. This is extremely rich trad wife content.
why does she make a new loaf everytime? Does she not have a couple loafs made in a breadbox or something? she's selling such an unrealistic version of the tradwife lifestyle.
I think that there are a lot of trad wives who promote the lifestyle of being a trad wife. I don’t think Nara fits into this category. She literally just shares her recipes. She never preaches to anyone about anything she just makes her food and goes. Also for the people being like her kid isn’t gonna get cereal for 5 hours are being a bit dense. Obviously if her kid asks her for cereal she’s more than likely making it today so her kid can enjoy it tomorrow. Also like why do you care lmaoo her kids are obviously well fed. Like why is that her problem that you don’t have time to feed your kids from scratch? She never said you had to.
Listen, to each their own with interests and what not, but I'm tired of the hype around luxury brands. The stuff they sell is ugly and plastered with logos. The sales reps are trained to treat you like shit so you feel the need to prove your wealth and spend more. It's such a waste of money. The amount of adorable, unique bags you could get from smaller designers or small businesses for the same price is ridiculous. Instead you'd rather have 1 extremely expensive, ugly, branded, "luxury" bag. 😬
It is quite odd that there’s emerging new adjacent branches to the original trad wife aesthetic - the rich traveling trad wives and whatever this is (stay at home pretending you’re rich and can but also that you’re homesteading completely so people don’t notice your wealth but also working more than just your internet job but also r e a l l y pretending that you don’t have any religious messaging at all but also this traditional lifestyle in the way you present it (especially sooo inspirational and attainable) can only be attached to those values)
The Internet is Bullying Nora She is minding her business and she works and makes money with her husband. Nora is NOT a Trad wife. It's Messed up that people are giving her so much hate so what if the kids wait for their food You wait at a restaurant or diner get over it. Nora is minding her own business and cooking and baking her kitchen. Never did she say women should adhere to rules or convert to a religion. There is no Deeper meaning. You literally sell a life when you upload a TikTok or youtube video.
people wishing they could have all that time honestly need to suck it up. just be happy that she has that opportunity and don’t let the jealousy make you bitter.
I kinda assumed a lot of those 'making food from scratch' videos were parody. Like, who makes their own bread AND cheese AND butter on the day they want it? on a whim? I would truly love to have the skills and time to do all that, but I'd personally be handmaking thing for myself as much as my husband. would love to experiment with something like mead making. I have never heard of Nara Smith. I thought I recognized her because I know of another creator who made content poking fun at something similar (I think it was something like 'having a millionaire boyfriend' with there being a bunch of rules about her weight and he was often on business trips
I know this isn't the point of the video but suddenly I am obsessed with that grilled cheese and want to try it sooo bad I might not even like it but the video makes it look sooo good. I can't really get into the mindset of seeing a video like that and thinking "I wish I had that time" since I usually focus more on the product/result of things. Again, not the point of this YT but. Sandwich. Food. Good.
