My dad is a veteran and when he was serving, he met the rock at a bar or something after returning from a deployment. The Rock is not a bad guy, but the problem is he is basically a PR machine. Everything he does nowadays is solely for the purpose of PR, he tries to please everyone but ends up backfiring. Like what happened with the Maui incident, he did a good thing, and didn’t need to say anything, but could not handle the backlash like Oprah, who fought back, instead backpedaling. I really like the Rock, but I genuinely feel like nowadays, he is not allowed to be a person with proper opinions, he’s too focused on his image, because he cares too much about what people think about him, and that’s real sad.

Many actors he has worked with has given their testimonies of how bad he is to work with. Heck even Ryan Reynolds said he couldn't work with him anymore because of his bad work ethic and terrible attitude. But I get it, he has helped many people and its well documented too and it's as you said, people tend to only focus on the bad.
