Welcome to the next in the series of Interviews for Physio Students and New Grads. Our guest is Andrew McCauley. Andrew is an NHS Physiotherapist working in an Extended Scope Practitioner role as well as a specialist MSK position. Andrew also has his own private practice in Cornwall, UK. In this interview, we talk about placements, how doing less can be more effective, Bruce Lee, workloads as a student, transitioning from a student physio to a newly qualified band 5, Michael Jordan, looking after yourself as a student, keeping up to date with CPD and staying focused. We dive into how to use reflections to help you in interviews and how much is enough. Andrew also talks us through getting into sports physiotherapy.
We also cover hamstring tendinopathies, exercise under tension, and as usual, I ask my standard questions including:
A golden oldie research paper that Andrew still uses in clinical practice
A new paper that Andrew has read that informs is practice.
Andrew also gives us a great life hack to help manage life!
Enjoy and please remember to hit the subscribe and share with fellow Physiotherapy colleagues.
