At first I was very disappointed that this was scrapped as a Half Life game, but I do like this new theme, and I believe it fits better for the gameplay style. I think the Half Life IP should stick to single-player story-based games.

like some other comments said, i hope they'll give it the TF2 treatment when it comes to lore, and expand on it with short movies, comics or other cool stuff

This lore really seems to be quite tasty to me, hope the game will be able to run on lower-end machines

I generally prefer occult and fantasy themes over sci-fi, but first and foremost I like a good and detailed world building, so hopefully the 180° theme change during development won't be too detrimental to the quality of the lore in the end.

I do hope that future maps and art have more straight-up Art Nouveau stuff like the sign at 6:15. It's a style that isn't represented nearly enough in gaming and tends to get distilled into something a lot more minimalist than it usually was.

7:30 to see the lore instead of speculation based on the world art. The lore of the game's setting is actually the Maelstrom, and the two teams are fighting to get a boon from their patron, this is seen in a bunch of the endings of the VN. It's not really "humans vs demons" as some more supernatural folk are well integrated in, Abrams is a detective, Geist has a demon trapped in her arm that keeps her young if she murders people, Ivy is just a gargoyle that came to life to protect a kid and is trying to take down a mafia, etc. The Maelstrom seems to be a portal that overlaps part of their world with the Patrons world, people like Warden fight to make sure that the Patrons never enter their world, as well as taking care of supernatural threats like Seven, and maybe Paradox because she's a thief? I don't know if it's implied that the Maelstrom in the game is another one of the major ones from "50 years ago" that they mention a bit, or just a more common overlap rather than a breach into their reality.

I like the idea of different characters coming in from different time periods or worlds coming together to fight each other. Very reminiscent of Quake 3's cast where it was just a bunch of powerful people being transported to fight. The character variety and lore will be pretty great.

I'm not going to lie, as a huge Half Life/TF/CS fan I was pretty unexcited by this news. but the more I learned of the lore and setting I think I might give this a try.

Damn, this is getting more and more interesting. The gameplay looks pretty fun so far from what I've seen, but the whole atmosphere, and now the lore is what will make this game really stand out. I hope the characters all get the proper attention required to make them unique and lovable

i saw a sort of anthropomorphic owl character in the leaked footage earlier, but it doesnt seem to be a playable character, and im confused.

The biggest problem with this game is that it lacks innovation? There’s nothing new, creative and mechanically deep like the gravity gun, the portal gun, or rocket jumping. What does this game bring to the table that Marvel Rivals or Overwatch or Paladins hasn’t done already?

The game is “out” now. You’re performing some kind of ritual, I think there are still a lot of placeholder assets so it might be a bit before it’s fully fleshed out

Could you imagine a multiplayer third person shooter in a diablo-style setting? That'd be so cool. But I don't know if it's possible to pull off such an atmosphere and astehetic while unsuring good visiblity for all players at all times (as CS2 players find so important).

I was worried that the fact that it was a new IP had me worried but MAN it just looks so cool. Blades in the Dark opened my eyes to this style of fantasy and I just can't get enough of it, it's just. UGH I wish I could get more already, the game looks sick. Never let the hype blind you though...

Delicious lore. I love the mashup of modern times and devilish magic.

I really like all the alchemist, cult and demonic stuff as concepts, and many are clever references to paranormal urban legends. But i think that the look of the game (at least in the alpha) is hard to differentiate between other steampunk art. So a good idea in my opinion to make it more unique, is to take those sorcerer and afterworld concepts, apply a more terrorific deception of the world, it would be cool to have a moba mixed with horror elements.

the scorpion looks a lot like a reversed version of the fifth pentacle of mars! it's a pentacle found in the key of solomon that's said to "be terrible unto demons" and lead them to obey you without resistance to said pentacle (thanks umineko!)

I really don't understand the reasoning behind Valve game development. People are clamouring for a proper Half Life game (a true one, not a game for a dead medium like VR) and all they see in their future schedule are a weird pay-to-win card game and an hero-shooter cobbled together at the last minute using assets from dead projects. All this gangsta stuff seems like was it was initially for underlords and now it got repurposed since they weren't able to fully flesh it out in that game.

Fun Fact: Anathema is an Amarrian covert-ops ship in Eve Online. Its pronounced "A NATH UH MA" and its a sick ass ship. All covert-ops ships are sick but its the one.

I’ve got a feeling that this all might be an internal leak from Valve. Possibly they want to see the general audience reaction to the art-style, the gameplay and an overall feel of the game.

My Biggest "PROBLEM" with Deadlock: There's too much visual noise, too much visual effects, too many HUD elements, they are way more distracting than they should be. This game suffers the same issue as Overwatch Compared to TF2, which as chaotic as it may be, actually doesn't bomb you with too much visuals that distracts you from the gameplay, and you can easily tell friend from foe and understand the current threat in mere miliseconds, i hope the Dev Team looks to TF2's Art Direction to improve the Game as a whole.
