I remember when I got this one shortly after it’s availability. I upgraded from 4s and it was insane. The bigger size, iOS 7 and Touch ID were really game changer. How simple things were then…
the Touch 🆔 was some good movement from Apple & people were crazy about it... iremember i had Iph 5 then everyday iwas saying when will i buy 5 S ?? After 4 months i bought 5 S i was like bro this touch iD is insane hhh but i was little bit sad about the botton there is no more🔳 ❗️
The only thing i disagree with is the screen being a game changer over the 4s. It was barely bigger and actually it was only taller. I remember back I the day everyone making fun of the 5 only having a longer screen and the parody’s were hilarious. Good times lol
@@SheIITear bro wdym I was old enough to witness the 3GS. My cousin had one. But my first iPhone myself was the 5s. Doesn’t mean we’re young lol. I’m 25 now
@@SheIITear damn it was my first phone too.... I’m 25 now. Guess a 25 year old can’t feel nostalgic for anything, huh? We’re only 1/3 to 1/4 of the way through our lives! I feel nostalgic for all sorts of things from my childhood....sorry not sorry if that bothers you lmao
I’ve been using the same se 2016 one from 2018 and it still rocking besides the battery issue and the games and other stuff all things are really great even now and yeah I’m texting you from the Sams se even now..
That was my first iPhone. I got it at launch. Amazing camera for its time and a wicked headphone amp. Touch ID was pretty sic and worked flawlessly. That phone was so reliable. Served me well from 2013 to 2017 when I got iPhone X. I'll always miss the simplicity and practicality of this phone though. I still use it as an iPod
I just bought an iPhone SE (1st gen) which has the exact same design as the iPhone 5S but with the specs of the 6S. It’s so good even today and gets support up to IOS 15
Same I don’t know if I got the first and second GEN but either way the Se is a really good phone !! And I go through straight talk so I literally only pay like 40 a month for unlimited data high-speed Internet and hotspot
They weren’t the first to adopt minimal flat design, but I still think they did it better than the rest. iOS 7 is still beautiful compared to something like windows 8 or android from that time.
I love apples phones but I hate them so much at the same time. Using it just feels like a phone with infinite locks on them, as if I’m using someone else’s phone, not mine. If I buy a phone I want to be able to use it for whatever I want to do, not be limited if you get what I mean?
As someone who used an iPhone 5S back then, I can confirm it was one of the best classic era iPhones we ever got. Plus being the introduction to Touch ID and being far better than the 5C ever was, it was a grand phone. I wish I still had mine, but it’s battery long since croaked and I traded it in for an iPhone 7 when that model was new.
My sister kept getting 5S's a lot back then because she had a habit of accidentally of breaking them. Needless to say, very familiar with the phone lol. I love it.
@@gizmostop I found it on a local used market website in my country. It has a strange story since it's an asian model and was refurbished then sold in France.
@@gizmostop It wasn't listed as an iOS 7 device. It was like every other listing. Yeah, it's a long process, It can take several months just to find one. And with many people not showing the screen working, it's easy to miss one.
@@gizmostop Oh, and by the way, if you find one, two tips : -tell the seller not to update it. If they wanna reset it, the only way to keep the old iOS version is via settings on the phone -always check the date displayed on the calendar. See if its recent. Otherwise it might be a picture taken from Google. For example : recently, I saw one with "sunday, july the 13th" displayed on the lockscreen. I checked on the calendar and this combination didn't happen since 2014. Too old to be the real picture of the phone in its current state. (It might be, but really it's most likely to be a scam). Soooo, with that said, good luck !
Also the first to have 64 bit desktop architecture. Remember going from a iPhone 4 to this, times were sweeter and them extending the screen to 4 inches was one of the coolest things ever.
This was one of the best iPhones and was part of the reason the iPhone SE (1st generation) was released. I loved this phone and wish they could bring it back someday.
@@AzraJ how you're telling ? I don't even know how it bended i think bcs over the years my iPhone shell came a little off and it bended 😂 but i still like apple and maybe manage to have the 14 idk
@@marem3038 nah, I’m actually considering switching to an android phone full time just because there’s more freedom and it doesn’t feel like I’m using a phone with parental locks lmho
I am still rockin this phone to date :)! This is my actual daily phone and not just a backup or anything :)! My battery doesn't last the whole day now, but still does what I needed it to do!
I used to own the 5S from 2013 all the way towards the later half of 2022. I have now upgraded to one of the 14's, but at the time, that thing wouldn't die. Yes it was lacking behind I many aspects but it still turned on and did most things I wanted it to do, albeit a lot slower. It was by far one of my favourite devices ever created
That’s commitment right there. 5s for 9 years is craazy. I’m kinda on the same boat I’ve had the 8 plus for 5 years. But don’t see a immediate reason to upgrade
Had it when it launched and it was just awesome for the time back then. The fingerprint sensor, software, camera, and form factor were all just in the right place. Loved it.
I used to have this phone, and it was probably my favourite iPhone I ever owned. Honestly, it beats the SE 1st generation as it is a true classic. The SE was close behind though, although I never owned one, I have used a friend’s before and it gives you that classic feeling of using a classic iPhone 5S which everyone loved, while still supporting the latest iOS and apps, until it was sadly dropped from support last year
I had a used iPhone 5S my 10th and 11th grade year in hs (2015-2016) and it was honestly the best old iPhone I ever had. It definitely worked excellent during my use. 10/10 iPhone 5S
I hope that some of the apps get a lite version so it won't feel as laggy. Obviously it can't keep up now but I love the form factor. I hope I can use it forever
That time period is really nostalgic to me. I've always been an Android guy but really admire Apple's history. I briefly had the phone and really enjoyed it. Everything kinda looks the same now but that design stands out.
I remember the aesthetic redesign of iOS 7’s GUI and subsequent Instagram app logo change from that old retro camera to the like 80’s neon design being all the controversy just out of high school back in 2014/15 😂 But damn, that 5s was a freaking *BEAST* under-the-hood even though it didn’t look that much different from the 2012 iPhone 5 minus the more ‘premium’ colors. The 5s had the insane A7 chip which was one of the FIRST 64-bit SoC’s to hit the market almost a decade ago now and came a year earlier than many reviewers and industry insiders predicted on the rumor forums and it blew everyone away man. I still remember my co-worker at the time holding down the camera button in the stock app and it taking rapid-fire high quality photos!! I’ll never forget the impression that left on me. So powerful, so smooth. In fact I think Apple changed the iPhone’s motto when the 5s released in 2013 either that year or later to “more powerful than you think” and that was 💯 accurate! It was an early sign, a prognostication if you will of where these A-chips were going to go and damn, today almost nothing can top these chips in a MOBILE BATTERY-POWERED device. Incredible advancements in just under 10 years time 😮
The iPhone 5s was my first iPhone. I absolutely loved it (and I still do). People always say I’m a bit out of my mind when they see my three iPhone 5s’ on ios 7, but it is genuinely really important to me.
I have the same colour, 64Gb. It is still my absolute favourite phone, I used it for so long, I never wanted to replace it. It was, and still is perfect to me!
i LOVE that more people are starting to share their appreciation for no longer current technology. this was a wonderful device! i'd probably say i like the 6s even more because of 3d touch, but this was a great one.
I had one of these in the space grey color. I still have it and it works like a champ!! I don't use it anymore but man, I really miss it. It's still running ios 10.3.2 because I was afraid of updating it any further.
I loved the 5s even though it’s old still the best phone I had one and then I got an iPhone 7 for Christmas 2019 and on Christmas 2021 I got an iPhone X for Christmas
I had the iPhone 8 in gold, the first phone for wireless charging and they changed the home button to a vibration instead of a click which I would much rather prefer. The thing is, the glass shattered in 3 days.
I had this phone in 2019. Had a lot of fun memories with it. In 2021, I bought a Samsung Tablet S6 lite for online classes (which is now dead and I have the Galaxy Tab S7 FE.) I was just deep cleaning up my room and found my 5S lyin' with a cracked screen. I asked my dad to fix it so he gave it to workshop now.
this was my first iphone, and the phone itself is nice but i personally didn't have a great experience with it because idk if i did something to it or not but one day not long after my dad gave it to me, it just completely lost the ability to connect to the internet at all and had the worst battery life of all time, until i eventually replaced the battery and that helped a bit, but then i upgraded to an iphone 8 shortly after i remember one of the nicest things about upgrading to the 8 was the battery life. idk if i just had a crappy 5s or if it was just old but i could sit and watch the battery icon just slowly go down when doing anything that wasn't just sitting on my home screen. i had it for about 2 years and nothing ever went wrong with it but my mom decided to get me an iphone 12 like right after it came out, and now i believe i've been using my 12 longer than i had my 8 and this thing is still amazing i think ever since i had my iphone 5s i've really appreciated having decent battery life on a phone, not to call the iphone 5s trash as when my dad had it, it seemed super fancy to me and all that but i think i might've had some really bad one or something because the 5s was amazing when my dad first gave it to me, but not for long lmao
I got a red one for my daughters first phone, and I got a good bumper with red jewels around it. Honestly I was jealous and it was still the most beautiful phone I’ve ever seen.
I loved the 5s so much I bought the 1st gen SE when it came out, it was basically everything I loved about the 5s only with the power of the 6s, if apple still made a phone like the 5/5s/SE with a 4inch screen I would buy it, honestly for me it was the perfect phone for on the go and one hand operation.
I bought a used iPhone SE back in 2017. I wanted to activate it so bad, it was so neat, so compact! But 16GB non-expandable storage just wasn’t gonna do it for me. And if the current SE models had an ultrawide lens and Night Mode I’d have one of those. So I’m gonna save for a 13 Mini from Amazon!
