Watching this 5 years to the day (May 5th) since Gerard 'Jock' Davison was shot and killed. What it must've been like for Kevin McGuigan from that day onward, knowing his time was running out and confronting his day of reckoning leaving behind his family. What a waste of lives during The Troubles on both sides!
It amazes me that people believe that the IRA remains a centralized hierarchical and disciplined organization. Certainly In the 21st century “IRA” actions seem to be a few groups of disorganized individuals with their own opinions and activities

I remember hearing stories about McGuigan, a man with an insatiable blood lust, had to once be physically restrained from cutting a protestand mans head off during a fight, killed his 'best friend' Sammy Ward the IPLO leader, and even killed a dog for barking at his kid or something. His kill crazy attitude stopped his rise in DAAD, of which both he and Davison were members, their rivaly went back years and it was no great surprise a lunatic like McGuigan ended up shooting him dead in the street. Stone cold psycho. I remember someone said of the situation " If a man like Kevin says hes going to kill you, you better do something about it"

A makarov holds 7 rounds, 1 was put in Jocks head, 4 in the face as he lay on the ground, leaving 2 shots just in case. Special Branch and MI 6 knew virtually everyone who was involved at just about any level in the IRA. They had their own reasons for NOT arresting them at the time. As for touts ( informers ) there were so many of them it's a miracle they didn't start shopping each other.m
