The Iron Heart is absorbed by the Descendant after the Guide understood the real purpose of her journey, which was transmitted by the Ancestors: to help the Descendants destroy the Iron Hearts. To stop Karel from taking the Iron Heart, the Descendant subconsciously merged with the Iron Heart while trying to close the dimensional wall.
