Thank you all for watching. Don't forget to put a like and subscribe to the channel. Do not repeat chopping nails with a knife at home, knives are not made for this. Use manicure scissors to cut nails )

There's a cut between 12:40 and 12:42. After cutting steel blade never remains "shaving" sharp in this particular spot. Can be reasonably sharp for some less demanding tasks like chopping etc, but it always requires just a brief sharpening before top sharpness shape. Same after glass challenge.

Fine work as usual, though I'm not sure I see what's supposed to make it so strong: It appears to be just a normal monosteel knife. Is it the specific type of steel and the heat treatment? You don't really go into any of that stuff at all, so it's difficult to tell if you're doing anything particular with this one.
@waltervonoer9190

Well, apart from chisels for hammer drills, which are mostly made of air-hardening steels, 'old' chisels are made of carbon steels with 0.5% to 1% carbon. Hardened, you could get HRC 58 - 60. Actually OK for a utility knife, but you shouldn't expect a miracle. I am happy to be proven wrong.

What type of steel was the cold chisel ? Was it high carbon W1 O1 A2, or a tool steel like S2 S7 M2 etc. Without knowing that, the optimal heat treatment is just a blind guess.

@@waltervonoer9190 Agreed. Yeah, 58 is roughly where a lot of the current german knifemakers like wusthof are hovering these days with their knives stamped from stainless surgical steel (20+ yrs ago they hovered aroung 54-56 due to less precise heat treating and electron microscopy), and 60 (ex: swedish AEL stainless) just barely dips a toe into the shallows of lake supersteel. Ive had chef knives of all three of those ranges, and jumps of as little as 2-3 HRC are noticeable ... to me anyway. Botton line: 58-60 is certainly very nice, but hardly special (pun intended). If you wanna aim to impress, how about some S7 high impact die steel ? 😁

Doesn't that steel, lose it's original performance, since it was heated that much and then heat treated again? or you can make it exactly as tough and hard as it was,without losing any of it's performance level?
