The Isle of Skagos (spoilers) 

i experience the asoiaf series thru unabridged audiobooks, and i cant believe how much detail for each subject you pull out of the books. it must be because you read them whereas i listen to them. i am obviously must blank out at times while listening to the books. the only reference that i had remembers of skagos was the davos quote. cant believe you got a 30 minute discussion on this subject and 1 and 2 hours long discussion on other topics. very impressive. good job.

I love this little video. It is excellent, thanks. I'm rereading ACoK at present and it puts me in mind of a sentence in one of Bran's POV's, "Rickon had grown as wild as a winter storm" since he knew Robb was heading south. They had found him deep in the crypts with a rusty iron sword from one of the old kings of winter and it had taken Robb and Grey Wind to calm him and Shaggydog. It is so intriguing to think of Rickon returning from Skagos like a winter storm unleashing havoc in the North. Also, I find Osha to be so practically wise that I tend to trust her reasoning on choosing to take Rickon there though we have few facts. I know we cannot wait to find out. Again, a delightful little episode.

I got goose bumps when you started talking about Rickon turning into a Skagosi Wild Man. Awesome!

Apart from that reference there is also one of Jon's wolf dreams, where he sees through Shaggydog's eyes. In that dream, Rickon's direwolf appears to have just taken down a unicorn, as it was described as an enormous goat with a single horn, something to that effect. Also we simply don't have any other candidates for a possible destination/location.

This island interests me more than any other place in ice and fire. I feel that it will pivotal in the story. And I think Benjen stark is there.

I like the overblown rumor theory for Skagos. I also believe that their fealty to the Starks is more of an agreement to leave each other alone. When Robb called his banners there was no mention of Skags in the ranks. Then again there was no mention of Crannogmen either.

With the note from Talon and the way you presented the final part of the video, I'm starting to think Skagos could end up being like classic horror - Davos brought before the Skagosi, Rickon a guest (not a God), about to be killed when ... the dead start coming out of the sea and invade the island. Davos' skills as a smuggler allow him to get Rickon off the island.

Okay, now you've got me thinking ... in spite of the extreme likelihood that Stannis and Manderley will prevail at the Crofter's Village, we could have a Davos PoV before it happens, or, as it happens, or between the victory at Crofter's but before moving on to Winterfell. In other words, I'm now thinking that Davos, Rickon, Shaggy Dog, and the Unicorn Cavalry will come riding into Winterfell at a key moment, similarly to Stannis riding into the fray at the wall to shut down Mance's assault.

We should see unicorns on Skagos. George has said in Q&A sessions that he has unicorns yet to unveil in the story and Skagos is said to have unicorns.

Also Rickon may be a warg and osha may see that he is loosening himself in shaggydog that may be why he's so wild. Osha may think the skagosi may be able to help with them keeping to old traditions and stuff

Honestly it would not be bad if the boy would have some real "first men" influence in his life and grow up to be a hard core Northerner, "Our way is the old way." kind of bad ass. I have a theory that the Starks had such bad luck during ASOIAF because they kinda lost their way a bit. With Ned alowing his kids to honor the seven and even building a sept for his wife (wich might have insulted the Old Gods).

I would like the unicorns to be woolly rhonoceros. There are Mammoths (that doesn't make sense due to me not seeing wide grasslands North of the Wall), so why not Woolly Rhinoceros even though it wouldn't make any sense for what we know of the environment of Skagos.

i just found this interesting video about Skagos. However they make one mistake that everyone makes when talking about Skagos. The island has a "reputation" as a dangerous place to sail to. Everyone makes it sounds like it is nearly impossible to land on Skagos. . But remember that before the Starks put down the Skagosi rebellion, the islanders had a fleet to the iron born and raided up and down the coast. They had a fleet of ships which means they had a place on Skagos that had a harbor (or two or more), shipyard(s), docks, etc. So the island is safe to sail to provided you know where to go.

Will you guys do an epidsode discussing more of the legends of the North? For example, I think the children of the forest still have some cards to play in the story. Several times throughout the book they are mentioned as "still existing". With Bran doing his thing....I am sure they will make an appearance in force. I honestly think at the very last to help battle the others.. Want more on this!!!!

The origin of the name Skagos I would say is Erik the Reds Greenland sagas. When the Viking's encountered the Inuit people (who had no concept of animal ownership) the Inuit's just hunted their goats and sheep as they would any animal, the Vikings fought them and called them "Skelligs" or rascals/thieves.

Yeah I love him too though his part is small so far. I loved the little actor on the show. Such expressive eyes. He was in San Andreas, the movie with the Rock and he did a great job. Cheers.

Great video Thanks. Apart from Skane has George RR Martin named or mentioned any of the other islands around Skagos? Like both of you I find Skagos fascinating probably because it spans both north and south of the wall and it's where Rickon has been hiding. However there are several islands around, one to the east that is fairly large, however I have not found a map where the names are given, even in Martins known world maps. I think this makes this area even more fascinating as I can find information about Eastern Essos, Sothoryos and Ulthos, as well as islands such as Great Moraq and Leng, but I can't find anything written about the islands around Skagos and who may live there

i have a theory about old dragon cannibal living on skaggos. if you say its a rocky mountain island with fucking unicorns, that might be a place for an old wild dragon. described as goats with horns makes some reference to cannibals brother sheepstealer. so what of the theory. well as you say skagos is scarcely visited, so a big dragon living on an island the size of ireland wont be seen very likely. and if someone was to see him, this person would be dead quite fast. i imagine rickon might come face to face to the dragon (maybe the direwolf scent seems interesting for cannibal) and unfortunately shaggydog will be a roasted wolf in his belly. knowing shaggydog is rickons best friend and losing him after all the rest of his family might be too much for him. so i see rickon falling into some extreme rage attack while cannibal is eating, and through this rage attack rickon will warg into cannibal. yes i think this. cannibals and rickons characters seem to fit (both wild, rickon might have turned into a cannibal as well, shaggydog and cannibal black as night). apparently no one ever warged into a dragon, so this might be quite difficult, adding cannibal is around 240yo and was never tamed/ridden. but a young powerful boy, gaining a full energy rage attack might do. it might cost rickons life, but thereafter he would be inside cannibal. and an heir to winterfell inside a dragon bigger, older and more powerful than vhagar or balerion would be some crazy shit. yet communication might be very difficult if the heir is inside a dragon. osha might ride the dragon and communicate, but it will be very strange.

Seriously... I need answers! Skagos is pronounced how? - skah-gohs? - skay-gohs? -skay-goss? Does anyone know for real cuz I always thought it was the first one but I've heard it different ways and we cant seem to come to a consensus. Can some people weigh in?
