If the Rex and Giga were in the same time period, they wouldn't fight unless over food or territory.

And btw, yes, Ankylosaurus was incredibly aggressive to nearly anything, especially if they were parenting young. However, Ankylosaurus did not travel in herds or even groups, instead, they were mostly solitary and very rarely ever traveled in pairs. They were also not very smart at all, but they didn't need to be as nearly nothing threatened them, because they were essentially nature's tanks, one hit from that club could shatter the leg bone of a Tyrannosaurus, and that kind of injury would certainly lead to death, either from starvation or infection.

The beefcake of Hell Creek, Ankylosaurus lives a largely solitary life. Ankylosaurus is a very territorial animal, and tolerates other members of its species only during breeding season. While eating is a full time job, Ankylosaurus gains significant benefits from eating specific plants, and therefore must range widely and defend choice plots of foliage, not only from each other, but from other herbivores as well. While adults are rarely bothered by predators other than Tyrannosaurus, young ankylosaurs are vulnerable to many Hell Creek predators due to their still forming armour, and must either hide from predators or seek shelter in the company of more intimidating targets.

Anyone remember the Ankylosaur vs the indominus rex on jurassic park it did a 360 spin and cracked it on the jaw id like that attack in the isle Sure it was killed in the end but that was just for the story that whole unrivalled predator bullshit the anky was a badass I love it

The ankylo was thought to be very friendly on its own and very lazy (maybe because its slow speed and armour) but when a baby is near the ankylo would herd around its baby and ankylos probally had packs/herds.And ankylos were also thought to be VERY VERY mean if attacked,bothered,or if its near it or its baby.

Hey Anthomnia, i did a little digging but couldn't find any information on the weight of the tail. However there was PLENTY on the kind of impact from the tail. The only known tail club from an Anky specimen is about 18 inches wide and made of pure bone. That could put the weight at around 100 lbs. (Best guess) It takes 100 megapascals of force to break bone. The weight of that tail+ inertia behind it can give the largest tails around 700 megapascals of force. i'll try to link the article with the info. :)

Since Gigas hunted large sauropods, Aka titanosaur, it would hunt in groups much like it's relative, Mapusaurus, by running up to them and tearing chunks of meat of their prey and so-so eating them as they move and corpses would also be on its dinner plate if they come across it (if you haven't watched IMax theater's Giants of Patagonia, please watch it to understand what I mean). A tyrannosaurus is a bit harder to understand as some people call it a predator as others call it a scavenger but due to all the shows I watched the tyrannosaurus is mostly shown as a scavenger due to it having a keen since of smell and its size would intimate smaller carnivores from any corpse plus it may of hunter hadrosaurs like shants (even though they may of been in two separate time lines) so if Two Gigas came across a rex with a corpse the rex would most likely try to stand its ground and may try to fight them off but most likely perish due to being out numbered and out powered by the Gigas so that's my "most likely to happen in reality scenario" statement. and no it's not like I'm trying to state it on a scenario like JP3 where the rex gets kill under 30seconds but the fight may take longer by probably 20min at max. So please don't be like "Hey the rex would just flee like a austro" or "The Gigas would be ded since a rex has that bone crushing power" because the possibility is good as none since both lived at different places at different times of the Cretaceous period and that a rex would have no clue as to find a way to fend of a apex that hunted in groups. Same with the Gigas as they wouldn't have a clue about the rex since they never seen each other other than try to scare off or fight to the death. Also the only know apex to apex events that happened was cerato and allos along with the spino and the carcharodontasaur that I can think of that are cannon to the Earth's ancient history and as a result the allo out performed the ceratos to extinction and the spino and carchars would only fight when confronting over food during the dry seasons of Africa resulting in both living until infection sets in or one is killed by the other one.

The species profile is accurate. according to paleontologists, the Anky had a very small brain for its body. So it's assumed that they relied *completely* on instinct. Which means, if they encountered *anything* the same size as it or bigger, it would think of it as a threat and go into a defensive position. It would attack literally anything that got too close. T-rex vs Giga: contextual, but "fighting" would more likely be little more than threat displays. For the most part, I think that how players interact in the Isle, naturally, seems pretty spot-on; risk vs reward.

I would imagine in the case of a giga and Rex meeting it would all depend on the circumstances of how they are meeting. Over food, I would imagine the meeting would be very aggressive (unless of course one is out numbered) much like you see other predators today fight over food despite size difference ( bear vs. wolf). Protecting ones young or den would be the same thing. Other circumstances such as a typical passing by, wolves and bears tend to avoid each other. Most predators will avoid injury if there is no reason to get into a fight to begin with.

Anthomnia Usually big predators avoid fighting between themselves, because it's too risky for them. But, if at least one of them is desperate for food or water or is a matter of territory, it could lead into a battle.

I'd say call the anky the BATTLE BALL! As for the rex and giga discussion. Realistically the two would avoid a fight at all costs. A confrontation would involve them trying to intimidate and scare off the other, roaring stomping things like that. A fight is the last thing any animal, especially predators want to do in the wild. But, if the rex would probably be the one to engage the fight because of it's more brawler of a lifestyle. Overall they would avoid each other but the rex would probably not back down from a fight.

Anky should be the "Walking Tank", "Sleeping Tank", "Bulletproof Dino", or, "Fat Pumpkin"

In reality, a Rex and a Giga would only fight if either one was on the other's territory or nest area. However, they may have fought to simply eradicate competition, but usually two large carnivores would not want to risk severe injury if they had no reason, and even if they did fight, one bite from the Tyrannosaurus would end the battle almost instantly.

It is a tie, since they are very much the same size. Chances are it would be down to circumstances and seeing which one has more balls to stand and fight. Thing is, there is sufficient evidence of Rexes to display violence, thus suggesting that they were very aggressive and are up for a fight. Giganotosaurus on the other hand, we know too little about it to really suggest anything. Also, mind you that rex is considerably more robust and tougher than a giga and has a much more powerful bite. So, a giga's bite to a rex snout would hurt like fuck, but it wont leave as much permanent disabling damage as a rex's bite potentially could if it bites giga's face. Also, the most important part - they never coexisted, as large tyrannosaurids have essentially replaced the giant carcharodontosaurids as apex predators, so it's really hard to say. I would just say it depends how it goes, how many of them on each side and whether or not either of them would go for the risk. Tyrannosaurus is obviosly stronger due it relying on brute force while Giga is considerably more delicately built and relied on different tactics, so it depends how the situation is layed out in a "rock paper scissors" kinda thing.

Unless the apexes are cornered or have babies, they'd never fight. It's too dangeous for both of them. One will back down. A broken leg is death in real life (and realism). A bad wound can kill you if it becomes infected. There might be displays - like peacocks - but rarely would they actually fight. Obviously 2 v 1 is intimidating. Two rexes, the giga backs off. Two giga, the rex backs off.

When it comes to predator vs predator conflicts you have to look at the situation and how the predators involved relate to one another. Two predators may not always have the same interactions every time they meet. For example, 1 on 1 a wolf is no match for a mountain lion and there are confirmed cases of wolves being killed by them. However in a pack there are confirmed cases of wolves running down mountain lions and killing them. And your risk vs reward statement is very accurate. Another example is leopards and hyenas in African. Physically they are similar sized predators and in an actual fight a leopard is physically capable of killing a lone hyena. However leopards almost always give way to a hyena due to the risk of being injured, as a lone predator if they got hurt in a fight they're screwed so its better to lose one meal to a hyena and have to go catch another one rather than get hurt and starve to death. The biggest issue though with coming up with a conclusion how a giga and rex would interact is I can't think of anywhere in the world were two equally apex predators coexist. The best analogy I could think of is historically both Lions and Tigers shared habitat in India, and even though tigers are larger they are similar enough in size that it'd be fairly equal. Documentation of such encounters though doesn't exist even though we know for a fact they happened. So we are sadly left here to theorize.

The gigas and the rexs would fight for territory and depending on how hungry they are.

you're right anthomnia. Most herbivores are a royal pain to play. Even as a galli you have to eat constantly just to break even on food. I feel like the bigger the plant you eat the more food you should get. I also like the idea of plants lasting more than just one bite.

Rex wouldn't understand what the giganotosaurus is, but if it ever came to a fight, tyrannosaurus would win due to the stronger bite force with its strong jaws, and dagger like teeth. Giganotosaurus is bigger, and is in a larger weight class however giganotosaurus was made to make things like sauropods bleed to death. It hunted like a komodo dragon by biting, running away, and later stalking it. In a fight the bleeding part could work nicely due to being made to tear off flesh from the side (to maximize bleed.) Either way they will both die. Tyrannosaurus had a septic bite meaning that it had bacteria living in its teeth, and as explained earlier giga had teeth made to tear chunks instead of crushing bones. These apex creatures were surprisingly evenly matched.

Even if the herbivore gameplay is boring, I think it's pretty realistic. Herbivores need to ingest massive amounts of plant material because of it's low nutritional content, and spend plenty of time digesting it, so there needs to be a continuous graze to sustain the creature. Albeit, you are stuck not doing much else lol

Considering behaviors of wild animals today (lets go with birds of prey like hawks or large reptilians) things usually avoid fights with eachother unless its over a dispute like mates, food, or territory. Fighting other than that would be a waste of energy to the animal or a potential death. And considering the rex and the giga are similar weights and sizes it would be a fight that neither of them would go for if there wasnt a food dispute (im thinking one would only go after the other if they were starving and desperate) or something along those lines because its simply not worth the energy. And if they did fight and one of them was hurt and had the room to run it would because all organisms have an instinct to survive even if that means running. If it was cornered it would continue to fight to the death. An animal isnt going to stick around if it knows its going to die.

Can anyone answer this question? So let's say you were in the middle of a hunt and you're about to catch your prey and an apex predator comes out of nowhere, you didn't notice them until the last second, and starts to threaten roar at you because you are too close to them or are on their territory, now do you simply go around them and continue the hunt, abandon the hunt and confront them or does it vary depending on what you are?? I don't play The Isle so I'm not sure what the answer would be.

Btw, I have studied dinosaurs since I was 2 and the most likely is Trex will fight if attacked it but since they never met in real life because trex lives in the USA and Canada (North America) and the giganoto lives in Argentina (south America) they would never fight because they don't know what the other is Also if the giga had stolen it's food and was alone it would fight The herbivores are only aggressive to the carnivores , and outcasts of any dinosaurs are aggressive to all but it's own spices

A Rex might would back down if 2 gigas try to steal its food. But a Rex wouldn't back off if a single Giga tried to do it. A Giga was faster, and possibly longer. But a Rex was heavier, could run longer, and one well placed bite on the neck, could kill a Giga. A Rex would be more agressive as its prey was faster, smarter, and in a sense, more dangerous(Rexes Prey: Anky,Trikes) (Gigas Prey: Slow ass sauropods, no doubt that they could do damage, but you could just walk away from them, as Trikes and ankys, could charge)

In my opinion if a Rex and a Giga met for real it would indeed be a tense standoff. Alot of territorial posturing on the part of both preditors to see who was the bigger threat. Meaning alot of bluffing the other out to see who backs off first. I feel it would only ever come down to a fight if either felt cornered and unable to run, if one was already badly injured, or too young to fight back effectively. Good way to look at it. Hyena and Lions are moral enemies, each will go out of their way to avoid confrontation where they can. They only stand and fight if one is injured badly or too young to defend itself. They will also fight if cornered It will be a fight with one or the other dead more often then not. Each will hunt and kill on sight the others young.

Apex predators typically try to avoid each other unless environmental problems start to occur to make them move to a new territory or unless hungry is driving it or etc

The anky being aggressive makes sense due to them having terrible eye sight and the only way for them to feel safe was just to show they where a dangerous prey and hope nothing goes for them but for the young it is thought that they where a lot like turtles having lots of young and leaving them to fend for themselves but in the isle a bunch a baby ankys aren't going to last long

I would agree with the aggression level in self defence, but i don't think they would be over protective about the young. The young would be smart enough to stay behind them, but the adults would not paticular try to defend the babys. Ankys just weren't smart enough to think that far. They eat and try to survive. And about the Rex vs Giga discussion. Rexs had a own territory and they would try to protect it against contestors, but in comparison to the Anky, Rexs were should have been smart enough to see a dangerous situation and in some cases flee. 2 Gigas, it would roar and try to intimidate them, but if they get too close it gets it ass out of town. Against one Giga, i think it would fight and contest it's territory, not until death, but as long as it doesn't get badly wounded.

I honestly think the only times a Rex and a Giga would fight would be over territory or food. Maybe even if either one of them had babies and felt threatened by the other being there.

If a giga and Rex did meet they’re would be a lot of roaring and most likely no blood, this is because of how apex predators of how behave around each other since the know their opponent can deliver fatal blows they avoid confrontation all around. This is also why I hate when in realism Rexes and Spinos always fight, because I mean come on people you know they you will both die because of bleed damage so what’s the point?

Well it's hard to say what would happen if a Rex and a giga confronted, they might both not fight because it's two large animals that could cause life threatening damage to each other, they might've done a threatening display, but idk, I would say look at how modern birds fight off others, but the Rex and giga could've had completely different behaviors, and plus there's no birds that are 20ft (6 meters)tall and 40 (12 meters) ft long

The Rex would win against a giga. Even tho the giga is taller and longer in length this can make the giga's neck a big target for the Rex, the giga has a slight advantage coz it's head is very strong and good for ramming. But over all a Rex would win

In real life the most toughest herbivore dinosaurs to take down were the Ankylosaurus,triceratops,argentinosaurus which is the biggest dinosaur to ever live,stegosaurus,gigantoraptor and diplodocus.yes the shant is not on this list cuz it had nothing to defend itself with and its body shops prevented it from standing on its hind legs and stomping,therefore any apex predator would kill a shant with ease.

The answer~ Large preadators don't fight in real life, and that Tyrannosaurus and Giganotosaurus lived tens of millions of years apart and on different continents, and so on and so on. But if ya fire up the time machine and put them in the same area my money always on T rex, yes the Giganotosaurus has larger arms with more dangerous claws, and possibly sharper hind-foot claws. It's also a bit bigger overall. But Tyrannosaurus has a more solidly built skull, a much more powerful bite. The whole architecture of a tyrannosaur is optimized for a single thing, and that is to get the head into position to deliver a killing bite, and to that end it would be rather more maneuverable than Giganotosaurus, which is a long-tailed allosauroid.
