Good point about those of us who have come up as library readers maybe having different habits than people who mainly always had their own, I hadn't really thought about how that changes things.
Agreed DNFing is always something I promote. Even if it's just a not in mood currently but will read at a later date. I don't see the point in forcing yourself through something you aren't enjoying
Not sure if anyone else commented on this, apologies if they did, but you missed your own pun when talking about ticking clocks " winding you up"! I laughed out loud! 😂 New to your videos, also a Sarah Waters (The Little Stranger is my fave), Daphne du Maurier lover (Rebecaa is my fave but I like MCR too, read JI and FC as a child many years ago under the covers with a torch), Stacey Halls, C.J.Cooke etc. l do like a good gothic tale and cosy mysteries. I prob shouldn't mention that I don't treat library books as reverently as you do. 😊 😱 Look forward to seeing more of your videos, Jennifer. X
Thank you for doing the tag! I still can't believe that Little Free Libraries aren't as widespread in the UK as they are in the US! Of course, you all have fantastic charity shops--we have them as well, but not to the extent that you would find them in the UK.
The book shelf to books ratio problem must have like a name, kind of like Murphy’s Law. Yes to dnf-ing! Life is too short for books that are boring you.
@@spreadbookjoy yes, I was thinking of something like Murphy's Law. I think it's similar to Parkinson's Law where work expands to fill the time available, but with books 😂
Enjoyed this,am glad you treat your library books kindly. I don't like how people circle page numbers etc so they can check they've read it. There's never enough bookshelves ! Sad you've never found a little free library. Alice and I used to go to one in an old phone box and one in a sort of rabbit hutch on stilts. Mad!
Question 7: I am SHOOOOOOK!! 😱😱😝 I would never damage a library book but here is my confessions: I break spines (certain books would hurt my hands otherwise) , with poetry books I dog ear pages & annotate but surely most people do?!! 🤔 I am way too clumsy to read physical books in the bath. Great to hear your answers ❤
@@CharlieBrookReads haha, I had to check back to see what question 7 was, I know, that was quite a revelation 😂 I think if they're your own books, you can do what you like with them. I can understand annotating poetry but then I'm never intelligent enough to understand much poetry anyway 😂🙈
I’ve been DNFing with abandon this year and I’m so much better for it! even books I’ve enjoyed but will never read again are gone, my collection is so much smaller now but I feel way more sure of my tastes / genres and authors I enjoy ♥️
Fun tag!😃 I think I might do it, right here actually! 1. Dogear? Sometimes.(Never library books!) 2. Annotate? Hardly ever. 3. Rolling covers? No. Breaking spines? If a spine breaks , that's ok. 4. Listen to something while you read? No! 5. Read in the bathroom? No. 6. Read in water? No. 7. DNF? YES! For a number of reasons! 8. Skip ahead, skip to the end? No. 9. Read more than one book at a time? Yes, two to five. 10. Own more books than book shelf space? Yes. Always! For some magical reason...11. Take a book from a little free llibrary without leaving one? No. I'm sure I've left more books than I've taken, but it may not always be at the same particular time. Maybe I'll leave two one day and find nothing. Two weeks later I'll find one to take home.
Yay! Somone like me, i put books ive read at the back when double stacking and tbr at the front. People to come around always ask me about what i think about the books at the front assuming ive read them. Then i have to explain the system. As well as the shelves i have many piles, of course!
I’ve just turned 75, so I definitely DNF and sometimes even skip to the back of the book to see how it ends. Life is finite! 😂😂 Very enjoyable tag. Made me think about my own habits.
@@novellenovels thanks Emily! Yes, I mean if the book belongs to you then you can dog ear all you like but I still don't really understand why you wouldn't just use a bookmark instead 🤷
