Welcome to Essex, Montana home of the Izaak Walton Hotel. This Inn was built in 1939 near a railyard for the use of railroad personnel to get rest after crossing the Continental Divide on Marias Pass. The Inn was put on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985. With many bedrooms overlooking the tracks, you can also sleep in a private caboose or a locomotive! Come check this place out, Great Food, right near Glacier National Park and the BNSF Mainlines feet away....

Used to have a Friend who lived in nearby Columbia Falls and I would make a visit to The Inn to Railfan, have Lunch , and take in the scenery and clean, mountain air. This place should be on Every Railfan's Bucket List ! Great Video, by the way !

Stayed there for 3days in 2017. Railfanning from the front porch is great! Or is it the back porch?🤔 And from the bridge too.
