@@Ismael-kc3ry this is actually hilarious lmao. a lot of j cole's bars feel very hard to listen to now, and a lot kendrick's have grown a lot more credibility. "i was gonna kill a couple rappers but they did it to themselves, everybody suicidal didn't even need my help"
@@zootin6688 First Person Shooter already didn't hit the same after Like That, but now Cole's shit in general hasn't been hitting. I genuinely hope it passes cuz I do like a lot of his music but listening to a track like Fire Squad is tough now. Cole's a nice ass dude but he can't ever talk shit again.
That’s okay. He probably felt pressured to respond but never wanted to. He looks bad for doing it but at least he being true to himself. Still a great artist/rapper/producer. He just don’t got it in him to beef with people that he like I guess.
I bet not hear one more “best rapper alive” bar from Cole ever again. He’s great, but the whole “I got the crown” then walking it back saying “it’s just rap” is annoying atp. Just be great without the GOAT talk
I completely agree he can definitely be great without addressing himself as a goat the same way people like Denzel or jid just let their skill in rap do the talking
@@mesmerizingsAnd that's the main point it's about backing up what you say as far as being the greatest and he very well could be but he took himself to bronze, had a chance to prove it and pop off and you apologize smh
It’s upsetting because Cole actually coming with heat this time. Objectively Cole is meh but it was going to make things entertaining. Now he just surrendered and it makes me confused. He talked all that for years then say this not for me.
"PUT YOUR FAVOURITE RAPPER'S NECK ON THE NOOSE, NEVER LETTIN'EM LOOSE" ... ... "but if your favourite rapper is Kendrick Lamar, nevermind it's all love fam" foh Cole 😂😂😂
Hard Bar off of King Kunta, from To Pimp A Butterfly. The album that apparently puts niggas to sleep and is only appreciated by White Berklee students, LMAO. There's levels to this, King Kendrick!!!
Yall saying that j cole apologizing was him being peaceful, humble, and mature when hes been braggadocious and tell other rappers to test him because he has smoke for everyone and hes the best and all that and no one is a threat hes the death of the rap game yall dont want it he said hes a god can't mess with him cant box with him and now he back tracks everything cmon now stop it he did not stood on anything
@@Jovaughnbey123he couldnt before and yall allowed him too, he put the big three to save his nothing burger discography. He can rap for sure, but so does doja cat, means nothing
Absolutely no more GOAT discussions after this. How can you be a protégé a Nas and not handle a simple sparring match. Nas would never. You want to be compared to the greats you must be battled tested SHOULD SOMEONE CHALLENGE YOUR CLAIM TO THE THRONE. Now all that “I’m the best” “Nobody can outrap me” bars hold no weight cause now that you had the chance to prove it. Not only did you drop a well response now you’re back peddling. Nope absolutely not. At least Drake responds to his enemies. Kendrick been wanting action but nobody has had the gusto to go the distance with him. I’m sticking by my guns. Kendrick is going to clean house and prove to both parties why he CLEARLY is the best MC between them both
Ive always felt he shouldn't have been in the top 3 discussion for a while… Even YEARS ago - Kanye and Lupe Fiaso were producing better music and albums than Cole and Drake. Nowadays Ye not so much - but still.
To be honest I respect him more for it because the dude is 40. He don’t have the fight in him anymore and he mentioned that years ago that he don’t. People just become docile the older they get and there’s nothing wrong with that.
@@firstlast9846you need to understand that the “big 3” was specifically for artists from the blog era that blew up and shined in the 2010s. Kanye and Lupe were out way before that, and at the time despite still being relevant, neither was making waves in the same way that Kendrick, Drake, or Cole were.
That I 100% agree with jcole my favorite but kendrick was smart with the bait and unfortunately cole bit it before the person that kendrick actually don't like aka drake. Man I respect jcole for being real just wish he wouldn't dissed in the first place it really wasn't his battle.hopefully this don't tarnish him I know the fall off gone bang but man this hits hard for some reason but still my favorite.
my problem is j cole rapping about wanting someone to test his pen the minute someone does he apologizes after dissing back . j cole sound soft it’s not even actually fighting it’s some lyrical stuff
Exactly, just competition. Not just that, but he had a good bit of time to make a different call. Like That drops, comes out of nowhere, catches him by surprise, I get it. Tough call to make, but he knew his festival was coming and that if he did fire back, it would be everywhere. People would be going in attendance expecting a Jay-Z Summer Jam moment. It's only after he snapped back and saw the backlash that mirrored his inner monologue that he apologized to save face.
This my thing, Cole’s apology I side with. My thing is, Cole cannot claim he’s the best rapper in his songs if he doesn’t want to prove that. That’s my thing. He inadvertently brought himself into it by saying that. We all know he’s one of the greats. U don’t have to mention it. That’s what really got this all into play
@@MylesKillis was just about to say this. You can prove it by getting on songs with others and having the better verse...which Cole has been doing constantly.
@@MylesKillishow is it corny? Competition has always been a main focal point in hip hop. And while it's not necessary, if an opportunity arises to further prove your worth, idk why you wouldn't take it. Cole fucked up. If he hadn't released a response, then he could prolly get away with not responding. In fact, if he never even mentioned his other peers and focused on being the best rather than the best alongside drake and Kendrick then it would be fine. He chose to cliq up with Drake, he chose to group himself into this "big 3" nonsense and he chose to respond to Kendrick
@michaelperez4641 People like you who constantly compare Cole to Kendrick, I feel sorry for. You keep comparing 2 artists with very different approaches and mindset just becuase they share similarities in content, you end up missing out on what makes each of them great in their own right. I bet everything you hear a J Cole record, your head goes,"But it isn't TPAB", and in the process lose your ability to appreciate what makes Cole so special to many people.
God I'm terrified of the idea of Cole being put in a place where he just get's meme'd and disrespected endlessly like Big Sean. I'm praying he can come back from this, he's not my favorite but man I don't want his legacy to get fucked by this.
Same. I am not gonna see him in another light just because he chose what was true to him. But with all the weirdos on the internet the fall off has to be the sh*t. Otherwise they are gonna eat him alive
The only way to come back from this is for the FALL OFF to be near perfect, like universal acclaimed classic, cause let's not forget Cole been gaslighting that album for years
I think the point Kendrick is proving is that all these dudes want to call themselves the best but don't want to prove it by testing themselves against each other like older generations of rappers used to. And to some extent yes, that can be very corny. Let's not act like beef hasn't led to very memorable moments that WEREN'T death. Rappers battling existed well before pac and Big died and happened after without death. I agree that them responding isn't exactly what he wants but he knows he can handle it if they did. All these dudes want to call themselves the best but settle for making the kind of hip hop you'd expect from them. I didn't expect TPAB when it came out and I never would have expected how deep into Kendrick's insecurities we'd get in MMATBS. I would not be able to explain it to the 17 yr old who heard section.80 for the first time. She'd think I was making it up. But she'd absolutely expect Cole and Drake to make the music they make.
Beautiful comment. Kendrick's musical evolution is INSANE. The thing of legends, fr. People can discuss Big Three all they want, but Kendrick has cemented himself as one of the best artists of all time since GKMC, fr. He just keeps on getting better.
I’d understand the apology if it was a really personal beef, but this shit to our knowledge was all for sport. Therefore, this is a sad day. I cannot look at the last 3-4 years of his career the same.
Ngl people been discrediting cole and drake career on the timeline since the like that verse dropped. Everybody saying it was always friendly but nahhh kendrick had people actually wanting to delete the big 3 from their memory.
He probably was thinking long term like how long would it go with them dissing each other before it got personal and someone crosses a line and it messes up their relationship and let’s be real this not the same Cole from 10 years ago
Bro really wrote, recorded and produced the whole song calling Kdot irrelevant and TPAB a snorefest and only after 2 days of being trashed on Twitter he realized that was a bad diss LOL lmao even
@@G5.Giotto he never was in the conversation tho? why you acting like he lost something you were willing to give him when you were never going to anyway?
as someone who has always been lowkey baffled how cole got into the "official" top 3, this really just solidifies my opinion. out of the 3 he's so outmatched in terms of popularity, cultural impact, technical ability, and creativity, and now i can add competitive spirit to the list. dude said tpab was mid and had a tummy ache for 2 days.
You did not just say drake out matches cole on “creativity and technical ability”. If you didn’t mean it like that then I don’t know why you wouldn’t include drake.
@@marmiteghost ah ok that make more sense I’d probably agree with you then. But I believe that the “big 3” thing come from a specific group which is why all of them are there.
You know I respect Cole for focusing on his mental health and being true to himself. But it’s kinda crazy that Kendrick made the first shot, he responded and then apologized. Can’t deny Kendrick influence. He dropped one surprise verse and this is the effect. I don’t want to hear shit about irrelevancy.
Cole as a rapper disappointed me for apologizing but as a person I have the upmost respect for being aware and holding himself accountable. He really didn't have it in him to diss Kendrick and you can tell. He even showed respect in the diss at times. Its definitely going to alter where he stands in this big 3 or his place in music but at the end of the day He did it for him and his peace.
I feel the same way. It took more bravery to retract the diss and admit that he's not that kind of rapper than it ever did to put the diss out in the first place. I don't like Cole's music but I respect the hell out of him for this because you know he knew the backlash he'd get.
He should've just not made the diss. This apology will taint his career. He could've just made an interview saying he likes Kendrick. Beefing with him will be fake.
@@user-ds5lf3he3x As a Cole fan who is still sick over him going out sad, I will say that if the Kendrick, Drake shit goes too far...which it likely will...Cole will come out looking like a genius. Now he's never going to be able to claim being the best or goat again...but his decision will probably be applauded more.
You’re right that Cole doesn’t have it but neither does Drake. Kendrick is objectively right. If you’re only looking at sales it might be a big 3 but if you include skill and artistic merit there’s just Kendrick.
Cole fans trying to take down Drake along with Cole lmaoooo 😂 Y’alls whole gimmick was putting Cole in conversation with Kendrick to put down Drake but now he got destroyed
@@joebidenjr5902 I am not a Cole fan lol I'm borderline a hater. I think he's mid and has never deserved to be considered with Kendrick just like Drake. I have 0 cole songs on any of my playlists. But go ahead and cope :)
@@joebidenjr5902 I think your definition of classic is lacking a bit. Drake's music is vapid and substanceless and he has been influential in rap's move towards vapidness and lack of substance.
Let’s be honest: Cole fans hyped him up and hyped the song up. Kendrick fans, we with the bullshit but we’ll be realistic. And to be real, Cole lost some point for having an okay diss and then flip flopping. Hopefully he grows from this.
FACTS BRO. Especially cuz for the most part, the overlap in their fanbases must be huge. I don't really understand how you could be a Kendrick fan but not a Cole fan or the other way around. They're both excellent artists.
I was with you until you said "Kendrick fans, we with the bullshit but we'll be realistic" really? A lot of Kendrick fans were acting like Cole had damn near no rapping ability when Like That first came out. Yea they don't represent the fanbase as a whole, but neither do the unrealistic Cole fans. Can't generalize a whole fanbase like that.
*I’m sorry but in the rap industry and real life* if you come at someone trying to hurt them (verbally) by using trans bars and insulting their work. You can not take the high road and say “That was the old me” Kendrick has every right to to flame him in a response. This was corny.
Shawn you have been right and objective the whole entire time and this is me on Team Kendrick. He just spat in the face of all who ever believed he had something to prove in his prime. Right message but AT THE FUCKING WRONG PLACE AND TIME.
@@shrimpscampin IMO, Tyler, Vince Staples, Denzel Curry, Mick Jenkins, Saba and JID got more classics than J. Cole. AND I LOVE J.Cole. But Flower Boy, Igor, Big Fish Theory, VINCE STAPLES, RPBMH, Imperial, TABOO, The Water[s], Pieces of a Man, The Circus, Elephant In The Room, Care For Me, Few Good Things, DiCaprio 2, The Forever Story... all classics. In my eyes, Cole's only CLASSIC is 4YEO. That album is a MASTERPIECE.
Im here after listening to Meet the Grahams and all i got to say is J Cole made the best decision he could of ever made. I take back all the L Coles i put out on the internet
J Cole apologize and realized he was conflicted misusing his influence, abusing his power full of resentment, a resentment that turned into a deep depression.
Honestly, I respect Cole for the apology man because it takes a lot to just back away like that and you already know what people are going to say, I just wish that he was consistent with his true self, and just didn’t respond or try to force it, I remember in an interview he tried to hit up Kendrick after control verse, dk if he did but it seemed back then atleast he was tendering to more of himself, but also for him to stop claiming he’s the best I don’t think he can say that after this if he does it just makes people not take him serious
The first thing I thought when I heard Dot's verse was that Cole wasn't gonna pay it any mind. So obviously I was surprised when I heard 7 Minute Drill. You could just tell that it was something he threw together as a result of pressure from what everyone was saying and I hate that it let it get to him. He's not the type (at least in this moment) to feel the need to "beef" with someone to validate his status in the game. Dude's humble and has only been looking to elevate his peers over the past several years, so I don't blame him for apologizing and wanting things to be kosher. I just wish he hadn't responded to begin with. But he's still one of the greatest to ever do it, and whether you side with him, Kendrick, or whoever, you can't deny that fact.
the thing is even in his apology he mentions himself being along side drake and Kendrick which is the whole issue Kdot has with J cole, I feel like kendrick is like yeah we cool but don't put me in the same category as you mfs but cole doesn't get it
J cole really fumbled on this one😭 idk what cole gon be talkin bout from now on cuz he can no longer talk like he that guy. All them j cole fanboys crying rn
My problems with this is. . If you keep claiming number 1, then expect someone to challenge you on it. . . He got challenged and didn't feel compelled to respond but responded through peer pressure This is where my problem lies. You're a grown man. I understand that doesn't mean you are above what public peer pressure can do, but once you make a conscious decision to do something, still with time to take it back before it becomes public consumption then act on it. . . There was no need to walk it back if there's nothing to walk back on. I am not discrediting him for apologizing, my opinion is why did you do something that you didn't need to do. . . Him apologizing makes it way worse for the simple fact that he didn't stand on releasing the diss record. One he didn't need to put out. . . Whatever is left of pure hip hop lovers, he has joined Drake in having an astrix to his career for this whole situation.
Cole can never say he’s the greatest (as well Drake if he doesn’t respond at all). To be a great rapper you can’t be afraid of anybody and can’t back down.
Tbf, when he made the diss everyone was shitting on him, he showed he wasn’t afraid and got trashed on for it. But the apology is def him backing down and it’s pathetic.
I didn't wanna smoke on that Cole Pack, but mans dissed TPAB and Mr. Morale. He brought this on himself. Now I'm like the New Jack City meme, but with a blunt in my mouth.
I’m glad for Cole that he’s come to terms with this. His peace is worth more than a silly rap beef. With that being said, I find it extremely corny and just odd that he apologized. Like all he had to say was “I’m done. I don’t want to do this, if kendrick responds I won’t respond back.” But he apologized and glazed the fuck out of Kendrick on stage “who here thinks Kendrick is one of the best alive” like bro WE KNOW. I’m happy for the guy but Idk what it is man, something about HOW he does stuff is so lame. Theres a difference between being humble and being timid/submissive/meek. It’s like he worships Kendrick and is afraid of Kendrick not liking him
I hope Nas calls him out again. You can't be the greatest at anything without standing on business. This is a horrible look for him and he almost looks worse than Drake rn.
