The Jabulani Elephant Herd Go Swimming in the Winter Sun 🐘 

It gives me a feeling of peace, even missing phabeni like we all do. I look at these Ellie’s enjoying plenty of food, love and kindness from herds carers and I thank God for all of you.

Limpopo trying to keep her tail dry was so funny to me. Thank you for the video and it makes me happy that you supplement their diet with fruits and vegetables. I remember the video of them eating grapefruit. You all give them the best life possible.

Elephants need bath time like every intelligent soul. I don't blame them for testing the water temp. No one wants to freeze in the bath.

Both Limpopo and the ellie next to her suddenly went on to alert: tails and ears out, trunk up in the air. From what I’ve learnt from HERD videos this wasn’t anything to do with the cold water. I did notice some buffalo on the other side 😩🤔 All settled down nicely and good to see they enjoyed a swim in the end. I had my own this morning in the U.K. Another soothing and calming video from the carers. Thank you so very much. ❤️🐘❤️

Even on a chilly day, the call of water is just too hard to resist for our beloved Jabulani ellies. Albeit a little bit reluctant, some still ventured to wade in the dam. Limpopo is really amusing with her tail-raising antic. Thank you, Carer Godknows for this beautiful and peaceful video. These ellies can just make your day. We, of Northern climes find it almost laughable when those of the South speak of cold winters but we know that it is relative. Animals especially are unprotected from climate change and that is heart breaking. When it goes down to the low teens Celsius in ZA, it is cold for all living beings. That said, sending you warmth and love from Québec. PS. Still thinking of Phabeni every single day!

Would the herd benefit from elephant sizes beach towels with their names printed on to help warm them up faster and conserve their energy? Just thought it would be as adorable to see as it was when the babies wore theirs. I’m not sure if the adults would even tolerate getting one placed on their backs.😊🐘😂

It still takes some getting used to not seeing baby Phabeni playing or suckling, or just standing underneath the protective bodies of his many moms. But seeing the herd at play today brings me smiles and happiness to see them on a January day doing what precious ellies do ❤️🐘❤️🐘

I grew up on year 'round swim team, you just have to grab your goggles and go for it. Two laps in you won't even notice the cold!

Awww how nice to see them at the watering hole! Had to laugh with that tail up on the air while the rest of the body was in water! lol. I know they are all still heartbroken & grieving over Phabeni as are we. Everywhere they go, there’s the memory of little Phabeni. But I know that Adine & our amazing carers are all watching over them and grieving along side them as well. It’s extremely difficult to try to “go back to normal “ when it’s never going to be normal for all of us left behind. Prayers and blessings for all of you! ✝️🙏❤️

Weather patterns around the world are interesting. You are referring to it being winter there in South Africa, while here in the US, we are in the middle of summer. Most of the country is experiencing extreme heat. Amazing how the ellies are able to regulate their body temperature so well. What amazing creatures they are.

I had to laugh at how two or three of them levitated their tails over the water surface 😆 The tails are thin and probably have lots of nerves so they really feel the chilly water in their tails 😀
