Look at how young Silas (Big Valley) is. I love Jack Benny and so many good shows that were way before my time (born 1977) thanks to my grandparents parents and others I'd heard about these great stars but never knew who they were. Thanks to RU-vid antenna tv I'm blessed with laughs good clean fun good shows
He was also the golf Pro at Hillcrest C.C. (where they are playing) and gave lessons to Jack Benny who was a member there…they seemed very natural with each other in the show. Hillcrest was formed to provide a Golf and Country Club for Jewish people who weren’t allowed at almost all other clubs.
You can hear the ball hit a mat on some indoor shots. This episode was great. Be sure to check out the Jimmy and Gloria Stewart episode having dinner with Jack. @@MrMistrEnigma
The golfer with the mustache played Wilbur Post's father-in-law on Mr. Ed(1961-66) in a couple of episodes(he usually called Wilbur "a kook" 😆), while the guy with the flat top was a judge in a few episodes of Perry Mason(1957-66).
This episode is always one of my personal favorites, Jack playing golf, in an on location, shot at his country club. Very funny, with Mel Blanc with squirrels ' voice"",!!!
Hey Greg, Thanks for reaching out. Not sure if you're asking if Im a Yankees fan or Jack Benny fan? I'll make it easy and tell you, it's both! @@gregnormal55.
@@gregnormal55. Hey Greg, I think you mixed me up with another JB fan. I'm the JB/Yankees fan. What's the song/artist you're referring to in your reply?
I thought the talking squirrel was funny, if they replaced the squirrel with a rabbit then it would really be Bugs Bunny, I mean it sounded like him. Thanks Mel Blanc!!
I love this stuff, I really do and I have nothing but affection for these actors, especially Jack Benny. But having said that, let me just mention that off all the styles and fashion trends that have come and gone over time, undoubtedly the one I am most grateful for having been spared from are those horrible high riding pants! Good Lord, I just can't imagine how uncomfortable it would be to wear pants that came up to my bellybutton lol.
Jack Benny was far more funny than Bob Hope and rare for a comedian one who who included his cast members in having the best funny lines. We had terrible comedians in the UK like Ted Ray who was compared to Benny and was not fit to restring his violin!
It doesn't say on his IMDb page, but I still think it is him. That is really bugging me! But it says there are various reasons for not listing people. I think it is a mistake.
public domain how do you tell. unless it's marked for you.started with radio show but had to see a few TV shows.the first seems to be more script an even funnier. Benny had a real family for actors .Benny was an is a comedian. ten cents for the whole game golf . don't know much about the sport but every one's golfing.
I caddied at Hillcrest cc for a bit n one day pres Clinton shows up w Amy Alcott a woman's pro ..I got to see the pres a few xs as he wasn't far away maybe two holes behind us ... It was 1997 he talked to a crowd of us after he was finished on 18 the hole .He was something to watch , I say highly intelligent n very sensitive to everything..So hes also intuitive.... He was speaking n that voice was great to hear up close. ..I guess the secret service was there. I saw hundred or so m cycles But none put us threw a metal detector or u know checked us out. I was standing few feet from him ...I guess we were all employees or guests or members but still ........it shows you most people are harmless ....amen I did ask him how Monica was doing ***
kinda ironic, i was playing early once on a 9 hole course and it was drizzly and chilly , there was no one there but me , on the 5th hole , an uphill par 3 about 140 yards i hit a beautiful 9 iron but because it was uphill i couldn,t see the green , as i was walking up the hill a man and his 10 year old son were walking in from the other direction and asked me what club i used ?, i said a 9 why?, they said they saw it hit , bounce a couple times and go right in the cup, i gave them a couple bucks and said go get yourselves a couple sodas and be sure to tell the guy in the shop that you witnessed it .
Benny was such a skinflint that in a skit, on the show one time, Benny was walking home one night when a guy in a mask jumped out of the bushes, sticks a gun in his back and says " your money or your life?" Benny says nothing for 2 whole minutes. The perp gets impatient and finally says, " well, which is it?" Benny says, " I'm thinking I'm thinking." Its his trademark.
One of the funniest shows on television ever! Well written, great acting, well cast. No other compares. And Jack Benny continues to influence comedian's to this day, 47 years after his death.
I've always noted how much comedian Conan O'Brien emulates a lot of Jack Benny's nuances such as long stares to the audience as well as his encouraging of staff's comedic "disrespect" of their boss.
So funny. I'm in the UK and had heard of Jack Benny but never seen him on tv. Love all the videos. Very good scripwriting that have stood the test of time.
Thanks for commenting.. interestingly, I seen him in person in “APPEARANCE “1967 (?? ,)@ & , walking by before His Show, @PURDUE UNIVERSITY / HALL OF MUSIC….and out back Before the Show having a “ Smoke”, as I was walking by::sort of tempted to run over to Him & welcome Him to Indiana, etc, Anyways, impeccable timing, great Comedian… PROGRAM…..good Violinist too. Ps: mostly, all by Himself on Stage: True art…..
I’m 70 yrs old. Remember his shows well. They were weekly, every Saturday night as I recall. His facial expressions were classic. Agree, very well written scripts.
Yes, Benny was one of the greats of comedy. He came out of Vaudeville, where many of the old comedy greats honed their craft. And not to forget one of the funniest comics ever... Benny Hill!! Thank you, England!!
The hole-in-one premise, minus the talking squirrel, of course, actually happened in real life. Notorious cheapskate Fred MacMurray hit a hole-in-one and paid off his partner and caddies while marking a '2' on the scorecard. He figured it would be less expensive than paying for free drinks for the entire clubhouse. Freddie De Cordova, the director on 'My Three Sons' knew about the story and brought it to the writers of the Benny show when he directed Jack's program.
Could be Redlands CC, it was founded in 1896, so it certainly is old, one of the oldest in Ca. right along with Del Monte GC in San Francisco which was started just about the same time
The format of the show varied a lot didn’t it? I thought it was a “tonite show” kind of format with a few short skits, interviews, and musical guests and a monologue here and there. But this looked more like a sitcom.
@@josephdragan7734, even with real PGA'er ERIC MONTE's shot? I can see using a plastic ball, or real ball, and or a net.. I looked and did not see a string.
Oddly enough I played early one morning in a light drizzle, i had this little 9 hole course to myself or so i thought, the 2nd hole is uphill par 3 135 yards, i hit an 8 iron just sweet, when i got to the top of the hill a man and his 11 year old son were walking toward the ajacent green and they asked me what club i used? I said 8 iron why? They said they saw it hit the green, take a couple hops and roll right into the cup! I insisted they take a couple bucks and get a soda , the dad said he could use a coffee and they told the guy at the counter they witnessed it.
@@MrSteveb80 I thought it was Alvy Moore too at first but after a better look I doubted it was him. I even checked the credits just to be sure. Mr. Kimball was one of my favorite characters on Green Acres, I can't think of anyone who could have played that role better. I also think that Eva Gabor was hugely underappreciated in that show.
@@Pro1er that was a great time for television late 50's thru the 60's. am i showing my age? plus i own the dvd complete box set of Green Acres. can't get enough.
