"The Jackson FIve Show" was a half hour TV special that aired on November 5, 1972 on CBS. Costarring Arte Johnson and Johnny Brown, the special also served as a pilot for a proposed weekly television show
Man, Michael exuded so much energy and natural charisma. He always maintained his child-like sense of wonder and imagination, but the world/fame definitely did a number on him as he grew older.
He had been famous most of his life, with the good and the bad sides , "Thriller" was once in a lifetime success and he was just 25-years-old, no surprising that all of that changed him
Every time I watch this, I keep thinking Michael's pulling a cell phone out (when they introduce "Fred") and looking at it. Then I remember this was 1972.

Marlon looks so handsome in this video to me. I tear up a little bit when I see Marlon, Michael, and Jackie dancing together knowing it won't happen again. Love the outfits they have on in the beginning sequence. RIP Michael Jackson. Jermaine brought the grit and soul. Thanks, Tito for breaking the string off that guitar. We might have heard of the Jackson 5 or Michael Jackson if it wasn't for that string.
This is my first of seeing Micheal being himself as a happy kid while performing on this TV special. I hate that I was born in 1982 after this TV special was aired in life.🤩😘
@@liyahhh1181 at first I thought they were in a pilot or they were in a pilot from.allinntjr family. I just nasty that be cause I thought it'd from their own spin off and I thought it was a their own pilot. Ate you getting Me? Hey i was only three years old and everyone knew them from all in the family.
Michael was so cool, hip and suave could see the 70's Black Culture all in his Swag ,body jestures, and speech....how he grew up to become so fragile....I'll never understand....from kid to adult...it's like 2 different ppl....but then again he was acting....and if all tht swag was an act...Wow!!! I guess the stage really did make him come alive....RIP Mike Jackson....there will never be another ❤️
@@bossteamentertainment6836 he didn’t sing a lot but he sang on one of my favorite lesser known Jacksons songs, Man of War - he and Michael are the 2 leads on it
@@mocancer8485 Hi. I'm positive that was their live voices. It was just kind of ridiculous for someone to suggest that Marlon was lip syncing the entire time.
16:32 Michael: (to Tito, while he looks around the castle) Tito. Tito, get over here! (Tito comes to Jackie, Jermaine, Jo Anne, Marlon, and Michael) Now, listen. You take Jackie, Jermaine, and don't forget to overpower the guards.
I’ve following the Jackson 5ive ever since they performed live on stage hosted by Bill Cosby in the album, ‘Going Back to Indiana”. I’ve never seen this video before. Thank you for bringing this video up my “Missing Show”. By the way, Randy REALLY kill it at 21:45 .
I am completely fanning out they all were so handsome and sound so incredible especially Michael. I lived this era and this brings back so many great memories. 😍❤❤❤
Wow, I grew up with their music, but remember them having a show of their own before,I remember their cartoon show, wow they were very famous, and still is today, love ❤️ them 😍 always, congratulations 🎉 guys.
Every time I see the J5 logo, I can't help but remember how Berry Gordy copyrighted it without their knowledge. They had to become "The Jacksons" after they left Motown.
I missed this show I was 8years old probably in bed great. Show big j5 fan forever rest in peace mj and papa Joe a great father who put this family group together for the world to see ❤
it’s so weird seeing him act like normal he was just so shy on in life. I really would like to see how he turned out without all the abuse n stuff maybe he wouldn’t have got all the surgery
He had surgery mainly because of the bullying he endured from "his own kind", precisely during the time this video took place. "Big Nose" was one of his nicknames, add to that the fact of being under the spothlight mostr of the time, and growing up in an industry where having "caucasian" features is a standard
I may have just missed out on Beatlemania…but at least I grew up with The Jacksons and witnessed the whole thing. From the then black Osmonds (only much more talented) all the way to the young men they would become. Looking back at this footage they could’ve easily ended up as another former bubble gum novelty act. However, had it not been for Joseph’s decision to switch from Motown to CBS/Epic Records, they never would’ve evolved as musicians. Micheal most definitely would have never been the superstar he became. Anyway, I am honored to say that both “Billie Jean and Beat It” are part of my high school soundtrack as THRILLER was released during my Sophmore year. With Prince’s PURPLE RAIN to be released the summer leading up to my Senior year. It’s been hell of a ride musically.
