You need a program like Photoshop or Inkscape for this to work. Step 1: Take a screenshot of yourself Step 2: Take a screenshot of something else that will be the background of the thumbnail Step 3: Trace the outline of your character and set the fill to white Step 4: Add a stroke and make it white Step 5: Copy and paste the filled outline that you made, put it in the same spot, move it to the back layer, set the stroke width to double the stroke width of your original outline, and make it black Step 6: Copy steps 3-5 for anything else of importance in the thumbnail (text, other diagrams, etc) Step 7: Add a zoom blur to everything Step 8: Export the thumbnail in 1920x1080 resolution (or any 16:9 aspect ratio) Step 9: Upload it with the video If you want to do text the way that he does: Step 1: Use a cool font, try to only add 1-2 words to the thumbnail Step 2: Make your text color yellow or green (not the brightest yellow or green though) Step 3: Copy and paste the text, then put it directly on top of the text you already had Step 4: Copy and paste the text, move it to the back layer, put it off to the side, make it black, then add black stroke Step 5: Paste another copy of the text, move it to the back layer, put it behind the white text, make it white, then add a white stroke double the width of the black stroke Step 6: Add a rectangle, make sure that it is big enough to cover the yellow text, and place it on the top half of the text so its bottom edge is splitting the yellow text into top and bottom Step 7: Select this rectangle and the yellow text, click "set clip," and set the color to slightly brighter Step 8: Make sure your black and white text is below the yellow text in layers, then put it behind the yellow text This is how I do it, hope this is helpful.
