Great point. You think one is better than the other then Miku and Wakana are dueling, Ami and Miho, Marie doing a keyboard lead break, Juna and Chizuru, whatever, they are ALL marvelous musicians and real students of the art forms. Senri is a kick a** drummer who remind me of Billy Cobham or Buddy Rich in her ferocity and can be subtle as well. The arrangements are definitely a big part of this
Just fantastic !!! There's a reason why Japan is the jazz/funk capital of the world, and I just watched one of the prime reasons. Such a great performance. I just subscribed and look forward to more great sets.
My day always get better when there’s a new tune up by the Jazz Avengers, because I know it’s gonna be great. And “Raise Your Flag” is another great tune. Really nice soloing from Marie and Chizuru. It feels to me like Chizuru is just getting better and better, and she was great to begin with! Great performance, excellent composition, one-of-a-kind horn section, spectacular tight rhythm section, great stage presence, totally badass… um… have I left anything out?

I will also point out that hundreds or thousands of American pop stars are ALSO gorgeous. But I enjoy Senri and her band just as much when they’re wearing T-shirts, cut-offs and no make-up.
You nailed it. I love Jeff Lorber and TOP, but these ladies take the cake! It's amazing how their tight, closed harmonies (shout out to Jun Abe for the excellent arrangements) make you not miss trumpets and trombones.
