The ironic thing is that Caroline was pretty as well. If she focused on her fitness, makeup, social skills, and school, she would have been just as successful and popular. Instead, she took an easy route and chose to focus on someone else. I remember being jealous of my classmate's beauty when I was a teen. I also had a big nose and was overweight. In my late teens, I grew into my nose and I started working out and focusing on school. I managed to get a full-ride scholarship and stipends as well. I began dressing nicer and my life improved in more ways than I can explain. My classmate is successful in her own right. She is a stay-at-home mom with a kid and she seems happy. Do I still feel jealous? Absolutely not. I would not want her life, and I bet she would not wish for mine either. This is a reminder to use jealousy as a motivator, not as a tool to drive yourself crazy.

You can't sue the police station. Every law enforcement agency dismisses missing people. Especially teens. Teens run away all too often and if police were to go out and look for every teen or person that did not come home. That would be their only job. There is no time limit before they take a report. But logically people return or are found within a day or two. Often people file a missing claim. Police put out a bulletin to search. The missing person comes home but the family does not inform police. So they are looking for a person who is already home! Its common sense. Teens get mad and stay with a friend. An adult is having an affair . While I think its stupid that police don't search . Yet claim the first twenty four hours are crucial. Its hypocritical ! But... I get it. What is needed is a " Missing Persons Unit " in all police agencies. But with defunding and little man power. It is unlikely to happen.

I can kind of see them suspecting that she would have run off at first. The reality is that police get hundreds of hysterical families with children who have "gone missing". Only to return 48 hours later. 91% of missing kids are runaways who will eventually return. However, that doesnt excuse their lack of professionalism and callousness to the family. They should have started taking things seriously by the 48 hour mark at the very least.

They not only have the impulse of being evil, they enjoy it. Being evil nurtures them, they feel powerful through it. So the only way to escape them it’s keeping far away, cutting all ties and information about you and not responding to their attacks. Only expose them if you really can, because if you answer their provocations, they will start an open war, they will victimize, you will become their puppet to abuse, and they will enjoy it while you will stress out in that situation. They are master manipulators so they will probably win that war. They are dark inside, they are just waiting for a victim to release their vengeance against their own frustrations.

I’m a psychopath, sexual sadist, antisocial and have homicidal ideations. I’m also a textbook example of what a serial k is….. I used to purposely hurt my girlfriend because I got off on it. ….. until one day. She was hurting and crying and I was saying anything and everything to hurt her to make her go but she didn’t. She held on to me and looked me deep in my eyes and it shook something in my soul. At that moment, I knew I never ever wanted to hurt her again and I felt more love that I’d ever known, both from her and for her. We have now been married for 11 years and I don’t even argue with her. I never ever want to hurt her nor upset her. I thought I loved before but what o feel for her is love above anything and everything I’ve ever known. I get butterflies every single time I look at her and when she smiles, it stirs something in. I’ve never smiled so much, cried from a living touch or embrace before nor have I ever felt such happiness. If I ever feel that I could break her heart, I would rather leave her than to do so. She says we have been on our honeymoon for 11 years now but I can’t imagine my love and affection for her dissipating or lessening. I still don’t like being around people but I love being around her. If she felt like she wanted to be free, I’d let her go because I would rather see her off somewhere happy without me than hurting with me. We have been together 13 years and I pray for a million more or for however long she wants me.

I think the pain she felt in her situation was very real. But that doesn't make what she did any less horrifying. And 20 years seems very light to take another persons life...

By making this story available to the public Rachel’s parents are not only paying a tribute to Rachel, but also warning young girls about the dangers they can have and they also raise an alarm on the system about how to provide psychological help to those who need it like Caroline, and to help victims like Rachel’s family effectively. Young girls should never do things alone without the company of a parent, they are totally capable of deciding and doing things but unfortunately it is only for safety reasons. Disturb people prey specially on young girls, do not be afraid but be cautious and never ever put yourself at risk. Caroline could have also been a good girl, trusted a deviated guy for the modeling, and put Rachel in a risk. Young women take also extra safety measures when they are alone. Crazy people is rare, but by statistics there is always some around, envying, hating, obsessed, or “fishing”, so do not be naive thinking you are immune, be cautious.

Poor Rachel may she rest in peace. The boyfriend she was dating at the time become a famous singer here in Australia and even dedicated a very popular song he wrote for her called “2 beautiful” his name was Emmanuel Carella. May she Rest In Peace ❤️🙏 he said in a interview - The song was possibly written about Rachel Barber, Carella's girlfriend, who had disappeared in March 1999 after leaving a dance class. Barber, 15, had told Carella (who was 16) that she was going to meet up with "an old friend" who had promised her work that would bring her "heaps of money". Barber was found dead and Caroline Reed Robertson was convicted of her murder and sentenced to 20 years in prison in November 2000, with a 14½-year minimum.[3][5] Carella is depicted in the feature film, In Her Skin (2009) or I Am You (2013) by Khan Chittenden, which is based on Barber's murder.[6][7] Carella, who began writing songs at the age of 14, said: "Some of my songs are fun and happy, but most of them are deep. It all depends on how you interpret them, but yes, I did write songs for Rachel, especially around that time."[3] In 2013 he admitted that he still thought about Barber every day.[5] He released his debut studio album, Emmanuel, on 18 April 2005.

Similarly in this case, The govt. / people in charge need the murderers back on streets to continue doing "their work" (committing crimes) so they can stay in business. Quite unethical. This whole story is just really puzzling. Why would the police not get involved? It is NOT true that they cannot search for a missing person until after 48 hours. I had a family member who went missing and they started searching for him immediately. Like within two hours or so. It is also puzzling how Caroline thought she could take Rachel's place. WHAT? How exactly does that work, Caroline? After Rachel is gone you go bebopping over to her house and tell her family, "It's me! I'm Rachel!" There's no way you could think that would work and if you showed up at the dance class and told them you were Rachel but you were unable to dance like Rachel, that plan also would go belly up rather quickly. If you had been her identical twin you would have had a lot better chance of pulling this off but you weren't her twin and you looked nothing like her. Help me out here, Caroline. The sister seemed very happy and eager to talk about her sister death. That bright and cheerful smile and quickly confirmed Rachel was death before any investigation was done is very suspicious. I think the sister is jealous of her sister as well and happy she is gone. Never seen anyone smile that hard talking about their family tragedy.

Idk about all that... This is 15-20 years later they obviously have had a lot of time to try and heal or numb themselves to it. A lot of people smile when uncomfortable that's quite normal. I wouldn't be so quick to judge on a subject like this that I'm sure you can't comprehend yourself.

We all need to understand that "most" of the culprits who have been arrested and jailed had mental issues... In Caroline's case, she had started killing animals and burrying them. The cops need to focus on that aspect more, being the root cause of the whole story. They need mental assistance from the kind of traumas they received when growing up, hence causing psychological damage to others.....

I've saw so many documentaries murder related, and most of the victims are those who trust easily and too nice. If you feel uncomfortable to someone watch out and distance yourself from them. Listen to your guts and instincts. Because, there's a study conducted saids there's a possibility that humans can sense emotions (the animal part of our brain). Be careful who you trust. Learn self defense just in case. Be physically fit. Take care and God bless.

The more weird thing according to me is Rachel's family members all smiling while giving interviews, like i get it you move on from things but still you show a little more remorse on that sensitive topic. And why her sister was smiling while saying "i knew she was dead" like who says those words with smile and that too it's about your own sister. This family is kinda weird and sus to me.

It’s beyond me how people like you seem to think they are entitled to tell others how to grieve the death of their daughter/sister. They do not owe strangers like you any “empathy”, THEY are the ones deserving of it. Does it seem unnerving to an outsider who’s never been in their situation? Of course, but we can’t even imagine what this kind of experience does to a person so don’t act like an expert on what’s an appropriate reaction in this situation and what isn’t. So odd how people get mad as soon as family and friends of a dead person aren’t a crying mess 24/7…as if they get off on seeing them suffer.

As someone who studies mental health, It’s very common for people with mental illness like schizophrenia to have delusions which are fixed beliefs of things that aren’t true and can’t happen to have a blunt affect. They barely show emotions. Their insight is disturbed. They don’t think what they are doing is wrong. They don’t see themselves sick. Such a sad thing she didn’t go and get her diagnosis and medications early. It could have all been avoided if the mother forced for emergency hospitalization of that girl. Her condition got worse and worse with no interventions. I hope she is taking her medications and hopefully getting hospitalized because if she isn’t she will be out there killing more victims. She is a risk to others around her.

I saw this case because my bestfriend has been warning me about this one friend i had in highschool. Even when she visited my house my grandmother found her staring at me, eventually she started dressing up like me even one day when i was reading her texts she even talks like me. One day she had even shown me a whole album of my pictures in her phone. When i told this to my bestfriend she said to keep a distance from her and sent me this yesterday.
