Mother Jefferson (Zara Cully) reveals that she has been dating a man (Alvin Childress) and they are planning to get married and move to Florida together, but George (Sherman Hemsley) doesn't take the news very well.
From Season 1, Episode 8 'Mother Jefferson's Boyfriend' - Louise tells George that his mother and her boyfriend of two weeks are thinking about marrying and moving to Florida. George thinks that the man is a fortune-hunter trying to go through Mother Jefferson to get George's money.

I like how they switched it up on The Jeffersons by having the husband's mother be the antagonist to the wife, instead of the other way around the way most mothers-in-law were portrayed, as being the wife's mother arguing with the husband. In real life, though Zara Cully and Isabel Sanford were the best of friends.

One of the funniest episodes ever,.. "mother Jefferson" adored "Louise" in their personal life, infact, she wanted to play her mother, instead of her mother in-law but, that never worked out for her so she was great full to have played George's mother. May they all rest in peace.
