TOPIC: NEW MAN - The Jesus Principle

Introduction
The principles of Jesus are completely against those of the sinful world. His principles reveal His character. To put on the Lord Jesus Christ is to imbibe His principles for living. It is in following these principles that the believers began to be called “Christians” in Antioch. Acts 11:26; in this study we will examine a few of these principles of Christ and trust Him for grace to make them our living reality.
1. Jesus demands much more than the law. Mat 5:17-20; Mat 23:23;
• Divorce Mat 5:31-32; Mat 19:3-9;
• Oaths Mat 5:33-37; James 5:12;
• Retaliation Mat 5:38-42; 1Pet 2:23;
• Enemies Mat 5:43-48;
2. The state of your heart towards sin is equal to the sinful act.
• Anger is same as killing Mat 5:21-26;
• Lust is equal to adultery Mat 5:27-30;
3. Loose it, gain it; gain it, lose it. Mat 16:25; John 12:24-25; eg 1Tim 6:5-6;
4. The golden rule. Mat 7:12; Mat 22:39;
5. Possessions Mat 19:21;
6. Humility is the key to exaltation Luke 14:7-11; Mat 5:5;
7. Leadership is service. Mat 23:11; Mat 20:25-28;
Conclusion
Living by the principles of Jesus is what makes us Christians. It is what will make a difference in an evil world. Professing Christ and not living by His principles confuses the watching world and even the cloud of witnesses (Rom 12:1). Let us put on the principles of Jesus today and evermore.
