A couple seeks the Rebbe's, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, advice and comfort after their son was killed in the 1988 Pan Am terrorist attack and airline disaster.
"After everything that has befallen the whole Jewish people in our generation, we cannot fathom the tragedies... The only thing that can be said is that it must reinforce our demand for Moshiach, who must answer all the questions."

seems like he speaks every language in the world. I'm impressed. I feel bad for the woman, who's trying to find a way to live with the tragedy the found her family. Heartbreaking.

He was brought up in imperial Russia, moved to Germany, studied there, then studied Electrical engineering in France (in the French language) then moved to the US early in WWII and learned English and worked for a while as an electrical inspector in a naval yard during a few years of the war. Add to that Yiddish and Hebrew and you have six languages. There will never be one like him I think.

I think the Rebbe mean't there should be no more reasons to have any questions anymore.Meaning to say-no more tragedies or unfortunate events,HaShem protect us.

When you loose a child it's like having your womb die, and the feeling of death never leaves you. The Moshiach is the only one who can help you separate in your mind the constant mourning of the flesh from the spirit. If you pray for relief of this mourning while reading Torah, the spirit of the Moshiach will guide you away from this mental anguish.

Please tell me what the Rebbe means when he concludes with the woman by saying; We must be spared anymore questions.

seekermike007 We should be spared any more tragedies, so we will have no more such questions.

54 seconds in the Rebbe says "its not possible to ask such questions" not "we cannot fathom the tragedies"

Was she condescending at the end?

She just looks a little disappointed like that's what she was expecting the Rebbe to say, she just doesn't realize that the Rebbes like not other rabbis he actually means it. She also doesn't realize that the Rebbe doesn't just mean to comfort her that things will get better cause moshiachs coming, rather the idea that it says in yeshayahu (Isaiah) that when moshiach comes we will understand why every had happened and we will thank g-d for all the tragedies something not fathomable now in the darkness of exile. It could also be that, that was the Rebbes intention in his concluding remark "we must be spared anymore questions" which that tranlation was probably the Rebbes intention but if you take a more literal translation of the Rebbes words you could say that he was summing up his whole argument (which the Rebbe maybe felt she had missed) "no more having any questions" basically we can't understand g-ds ways.
