That's what is lacking today. It seems that record labels are relying on artists to do all the artist development themselves to get enough of a following for major label interest, then scooping up the artist.

She was at Day N' Vegas Festival...... came on late, performed two songs, said something about there being some malfunction with the sound (the sound was perfectly fine for every other performance, but all of a sudden her's messed up). I get her music probably doesn't warrant for a high energy performance, but her energy still wasn't very engaging with the crowd. It felt like some random girl was just on stage singing with two strippers dancing on poles during intermission between sets. They just have to accept that she doesn't really put much effort into her performances. At the very least, I still would have wanted her to ACT like she wanted to be there, but the entire crowd could just feel how much she didn't really care to be there, at all. So I get it, Justice is her manager and he has to protect her likeness, and her career as an artist. But part of that is performance. Drake didn't start off as even a decent performer when he first came out. People HATED his stage presence, how he engaged with the crowd, etc. But of course he started making enough money to get extremely great stage production to help out with that. But eventually he started to put more effort into understanding how to put a performance together. I don't really see that happening with Summer. She makes good music, but if she doesn't care about the money, maybe going on the road just isn't the best thing for her. That's fine. It takes a lot of money and effort to put it together, not to mention, people spend a lot of money to go see her. It's just not a good look over all. So regardless, Joe's point is still very valid. Because I am a person who has been to a recent show, and I left with an opinion about it. I wouldn't waste my time or money to try and see her live again. lol most, if not ALL of the time, that first impression of a performance can mean everything to the audience.
