The Darth Vader vs Hitler Trilogy is a 3 parter you should watch from them... Super Mario Bros vs Wright Bros you should watch... Sir Isaac Newton vs Bill Nye is a good one (Featuring Weird Al Yankovic) Moses vs Santa (Featuring Snoop Dogg). Rafael, Donatello, Michelangelo and Leonardo Divinci vs TMNT is one you should watch... Eastern Philosophers vs Western Philosophers is another good one.
They really do their research and there are no throwaway lines. Every line has a reference, a double meaning, a joke... check out a knox hill breakdown of this on your free time to see how crazy these really are. He explains all the references and jokes.
"I'm a Shining man" is a reference to the fact that Jack Nicholson played both the main character in 'The Shining' and the Joker in Tim Burton's 'Batman'. This battle is also so full of references to the comics and books that one actually needs to read them to get many of the bars. One of the best of ERB ever, including the extremely high production value.
Also stepen king wrote both "the shining" and also "It" so it also functions on the level that the shining was better. So the dis hits on 2 different levels.
Yep, that one is on a VERY short list of EXTREMELY cutting lines from ERB. Along with; You've lost so many babies they should call you Ms. Carriage, No one in your family ever lives to see a sequel. One more Superman who's never going to walk again! To name a few. (they ALL make you wince a little when you hear them)
Welcome to the ERB rabbit hole, my friend. I highly recommend Eastern Philosophers vs Western Philosophers and Michael Jordan vs Muhammad Ali. If you want savage bars, Cleopatra vs Marilyn Monroe and Clint Eastwood vs Bruce Lee.
It hurts my face how much I laugh everytime someone takes off their headphones, gets up and walks away after the Heath Ledger line. It's so dark, it still stings, but holy shit is it ever funny.
I highly recommend for the next ERB to be Thanos vs Oppenheimer. They capture Oppenheimer so well, I got chills... and I've never seen any of the interviews with Oppenheimer.
"I take smiles and I leave scars, guards at arkham will admit that the joker just killed IT" Is a fire play on words, Skarsgard played Pennywise in the 2017 IT movie
Tim Curry played a devil in the movie legend as well as Pennywise in the first It movie. Hence the line "Pennywise likes the devil" Joker won it for me with his word play
I give it the Joker, but I have to admit that the "Cesar Romero's mustache" line is one of my favorites. For those that may not know, Cesar Romero played the Joker in the '60s TV series, but he refused to shave his mustache so the make-up department had to paint it white along with the rest of his face and it didn't look very good at all.
Don't forget that his mustache was a big part of Romero's normal stage act, and he was only a guest star on the Batman show. So there is no way he would have shaved it for a one week gig. The fact they used him any way is a testament to how well he fit the role in that show.
@@edwardblair4096 for as cheesy and.. well.. '60's that show was they really had a lot of very good actors as villans of the week, very underrated. Damn it now I have to binge that.
Hardest battle to call.. and i first leaned towards joker because of joker/batman biases. But the more and more i listen to the battle. I can definetly say they both stabbed and clawed each other so bad its basically a tie.
This may or may not be a fact or just a rumor but Tim Curry almost played the Joker in Batman the Animated Series. He recorded a few episodes but was deemed to scary for kids. I also heard he was one of the choices to play him in the Tim Burton Batman film.
It was true. Tim Curry was cast as the Joker originally, but was deemed too scary for the show. So they replaced hime with Mark Hamill and the rest is history
There's recordings of him doing the joker. In fact in one of the first joker episodes the jack in the box uses the Tim Curry laugh intended for the joker.
I'm right there with ya about the current state of hip-hop. I'm also 41 so I absolutely understand what you're talking about. ERB takes lyricism to the top as it should be. There are lots of episodes out there. I'm sure you'll find more you know enough about watch. I'd also recommend checking out the channel Knox Hill and his reactions to this even in your spare time. His knowledge of everything seems to have no end.
There are a LOT of great Epic Battles. Hitler vs Darth Vader 1, 2, and 3 Superman vs Goku Steve Jobs vs Bill Gates and many many more all worth checking out.
I loved watching Joaquin Phoenix as “The Joker”, but for me personally, the BEST Joker was Australia’s own Heath Ledger (R.I.P Heath ✊️😔🇦🇺). I saw “It” at the movies but my wife damn near tore my arm out of the socket every time she got scared 😱😱😖😖
@@erikkennedy8725 ... You were right about Heath as he really immersed himself in the role, with many saying he did it a little too well but hey... It won him a posthumous Oscar so that’s an indication of a job extremely well done 👍😁
The beauty of ERB is how genius their writing has become. I mean, lets take a moment to celebrate their advances in editing creativity, casting, their flow, their acting, voices. But the thing that really sets them apart is how in-depth their writing has become. Clever phrases that can be taken several different ways to really make a bar complex and satisfying. Its never just surface value "because it rhymes". Most everything has at least 2 relevant meanings in later seasons rap battles. Its impressive.
Great video as always Jamel! I hope you keep doing ERBs. They have some crazy bars. I recommend doing a tiny bit of Wikipedia research before watching some of their videos that have people you’re unfamiliar with. At least having some baseline info about certain people will make the bars hit even harder. Luckily, the ERB guys do a great job at creating hard bars that somewhat explain the person’s history. So even if you don’t do any research you’ll still enjoy the videos. Keep up the great work! Greetings from Canada
Some points. I'd say pause as much as you need to, don't feel bad for pausing. I would also suggest doing some of season 1 ERBs so you can see the improvement over the years.
The Heath Ledger bar is the only show stopper but The Joker comes with bar after bar and easily takes the fight. Thank you for stopping to acknowledge the "Ask Robin if I drop bars". It's one of my favorites especially combined with the imagery they use but it comes so fast in the middle of other lines that it can easily be overlooked.
So glad you reacted to this especially since I may not have ever heard something like this otherwise. I really enjoyed that & will be checking out more of these rap battles. Really helped having the words on the screen. I was actually able to follow what they were rapping about and I was laughing quite a bit. This was cool
There’s a lot of Joker vs Pennywise deathmatches out there. Joker’s going to win- Pennywise feeds on fear, and the Joker’s fearless. The best one, Pennywise feeds on the one fear the Joker has- that of being forgotten… but Joker prevails.
I’d love to see one of these rap battles with someone playing Freddy Kreuger, my favourite all time horror movie bad guy. Some of his epic one-liners he’d unleash before taking someone out were GOLDEN ✊️😜
@@phballer99 ... AWESOME!!! Thanks for letting me know 🙏😄. Back when “Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors” was released, I got thrown out of a movie theatre in California for actually CHEERING for Freddy in the movie. I was a little drunk & the theatre manager dragged me out of there 😂😂😂. I’ll check the clip out... THANKS AGAIN ✌️😎
Oh man, so many good ones from them! Edgar Allen Poe vs Stephen King and Shakespeare vs Dr. Seuss are pretty fun. These dudes make some great beats and flows, too.
Epic Lloyd and Nice Peter are seriously two of the most slept on rappers in the game. Each line is a bar, each joke and reference hits, and it all sounds and looks amazing. Thanos vs J. Robert Oppenheimer is another banger, and is just full of genius lyrics.
ERB are often dense with references so it does help to know the parties. You might enjoy a music one like Elvis vs Michael Jackson or a sports one like Ali vs Jordan they have a pretty broad range of characters.
"the original joker brother brother jack Nicholson" Cesar remero is spinniing in his grave also he is doing the mark hamil voice also pennywise is not a clown he is a spider from out of space
You'll enjoy this series. Some of the videos can be a bit too silly, but a lot are fantastic. Check out Frederick Douglass vs Thomas Jefferson, and for a celebrity cameo Sir Isaac Newton vs Bill Nye the Science Guy.
Loved this one. It's in my top three with Ronald McDonald vs. The Burger King and Theodore Roosevelt vs. Winston Churchill. [you do have to know your history to enjoy the latter]
I was right there with you on the thumbnails looking corny, but I must admit; this is the VERY first ERB that I watched. Which in turn opened the floodgates for ERB AND reactors to it. I NEVER get tired of seeing how others react. Plus, I like how ERB respect reactors.
Glad you found the ERB's! These guys have some real talent and like anything some are better than others. Since you're a fan of Weird AL, check out the ERB of Bill Nye vs Issac Newton.
The ERB guys align more with the old school rap and hip hop, they get “Oh no they DIDN’T” ruthless with their raps. Welcome to ERB brotha, you’re in for more surprises.
When joker says he's a "shining man...wink." it's a dig at King bc Kubrick's movie deviated extremely far from the source material bc he felt it was kinda shit.
And just of you'd like to get into some of the deeper bar breakdown Knox Hills channel does a great deep dive. Stuff like the last actor to play it was Bill Skarsgård, The joker had a flow line that went I leave scars, guards in Arkham will admit. Scars-guards it's wild!!
Theres so many hidden gems in this youd really have to know the history and background on to catch. Right down to the fact Nice Peter was portraying Joker like the animated series with Mark Hamill's voice impression. "I go Mark Ham with ill zingers"
Welcome to the world of ERB! Nice Peter and Epic Lloyd run the channel and are most of the characters in the rap battles. There are sometimes guest stars like Key & Peele, and Ray William Johnson. Enjoy!
I know you've already reacted to quite a few of the ERB's, and so you already know that they really do "go there". They do extensive research in earnest, for each ERB, so they have some real knowledge about the persons when they do these battles. IMHO, that makes them even more entertaining.
IRL I like Pennywise more but for this battle, I have to give it to Joker just for that "Ask Robin if I drop bars I take smiles and I leave *scars guard* s at Arkam will admit that the Joker just killed IT" sneaking in the last name of the dude who played the new Pennywise was awesome...also the "I go *Mark Ham* with *ill* zingers"
Both Pennywise and the Clown Prince of Crime brought their A-game (loved his references to Lovecraft and Edgar Allan Poe's "The Cask of Amontillado"! ), but I still think that Joker won this round. For future ERB video reactions, I suggest Frank Sinatra vs. Freddy Mercury, Steven Spielberg vs. Alfred Hitchcock, Albert Einstein vs. Stephen Hawking and Sir Isaac Newton vs. Bill Nye.
Just to show how much i love your channel, i played this (notice i didnt say watch. Typed this during an ad) even though i am terrified of clowns (thanks to dad taking me to see IT when i was 2. Hence joker wins just cause)
Oh sweetling you have no idea what you are getting into. These guys have been doing this for YEARS and they have so so much packed into every bar. There are so many layered and intelligent lines, I mean most every line. Nice Peter and Epic Lloyd are the geniuses behind these and they love their reactors. Trust me when I say watch these over and over and you will keep catching more and more lines and references that you missed the first go around. Also for some of the historic ones that you don’t know as well trust me that you will still enjoy them and even learn some new stuff, and if you are interested I could recommend a couple other reactors who are history buffs so you can learn more about bars/doubles/triples that you may not have caught yourself.
Bro, these are REALLY GOOD! You have to pause to give your opinion. Too much going on. It’s ok. If you start from the first battle and work your way forward, you’ll see their evolution. They started with basically no $$ and had cheesy costumes, but now, they have a great support cast, and even got celebrities to battle. They also have “behind the scenes” videos. They’re just as good & give you info on the characters &history. So you don’t really have to know about them, just react to the battle, then learn about it in the behind the scenes vid. You can react to both in the same vid. You’ve entered a rabbit hole my friend. A very fun, entertaining, and educational rabbit hole.
JIK, you didn't catch it (apologies if you did), Cesar Romero's mustache refers to the actor who portrayed the Joker in the 1960's TV series opposite Adam West's Batman. Romero refused to shave his mustache for the role, and instead wore white greasepaint to cover it up.
So glad you're doing these. You've got to watch Frank Sintra vs. Freddy Mercury and Clint Eastwood vs. Bruce Lee. I think you'd also like Sir Isaac Newton vs. Bill Nye the Science Guy, staring Weird Al as Newton!
It is a lot to take in. They stuff so much information into some of these that it is hard to catch all of them. My suggestion would be go chronological (except adolf vs vader) just so you can see how they started to how they are now.
Some of the deepest pulls Ive ever heard. No wonder if some of this stuff goes over your head, takes real knowledge of stephen kings works as well as batman lore to catch! Also the lovecraft line is funny because stephen king was so clearly influenced by lovecraft himself
If you're checking out Epic Rap Battles Of History, you should definitely take a look at Sir Isaac Newton Versus Bill Nye The Science Guy... Sir Isaac Newton is Weird Al Yankovic...
Oh I forgot all about these. Damn!! Shout out to whoever suggested this. There’s Freddy vs Jason. Michael Myers. The list is huge. Well done. First to react to this because you have the greatest fans. Now we will see others doing it too. You just wait..
McDonalds vs Burger King. Btw, we're about the same age (my favorite rap group is Jurassic 5). These guys take it seriously, especially the newer ones. They put legit work into the process.
