this is probably wicked silly of me to think, but I relate to this Jolly Roger song the absolute most. I'm a novelist/poet and have been for three years. Absolutely no literary success but I never stop writing and I never stop reaching out to readers on different niches of the internet and wherever I can find them on youtube, instagram, etc. It gets soul-crushing but I've not given up yet. I think about my idols like Edgar Allan Poe and Sylvia Plath and other writers before me who all didn't really have the easiest lives but they wrote up until the very end. It's pretty wicked to imagine there being a spirit that keeps reincarnating over and over again because its job is never done, and I feel like that's me and the best writers before me had it too. I listen to this song on repeat while I do book promotion. I remember the first time I read The Raven and saw a picture of Edgar Allan Poe (long before I started doing this) and something about him just struck me with this eerie familiarity...
