It took an army of Australians to separate conjoined twins Nima and Dawa. Joined at the chest and abdomen, the Bhutanese twins required separation surgery to ensure a healthy future. But with the medical system still developing in Bhutan, they turned to Australian medical experts for help. Now the toddlers are reunited with their whole family in a spectacular Himalayan homecoming.

This story is really touching and emotional. It shows that there is always a hope, miracle and angel among the devils in this world. All those people involved in making the life of little girls (who are too young to realize what they are going through) worthy and promising is really encouraging to everyone and a beacon of hope in the world. The Government of Australia, the team of doctors who performed the surgery, the journalists who covered the girls story and staffs at Children First Foundation really deserves an applaud and appreciation. May such miracle continue in this world......

@ella-bt8hp
@ella-bt8hp 5 лет назад
Yeah that's true I've watched about every documentary I could find on conjoined twins and they usually just get on with it don't they. It must be so hard as a child wanting to learn and explore and make decisions for your self while being pulled the opposite way by your twin I can see why it would cause disagreements between them. The separation was definitely the right thing in this case wasn't it.
@junbh2

@soilmanted
@soilmanted 3 года назад
@@ella-bt8hp Separation it was the right thing in this case because it was a relatively straightforward procedure, relatively uncomplicated, compared to some other separations that could be much more challenging. 4 arms, 4 legs, 4 kidneys, 2 hearts, 4 lungs. Only one liver but liver is famous for its regenerative powers. It was a 6 hour procedure. Some separations take 16 yours - or more. The only major organ that needed to be divided was the liver. There were no worries about not having enough skin. For some twins there are questions as to whether which is better, separate or leave as is. In this case it was obvious that separation could be done with a relatively low level of risk. There was a case when there was only one kidney for a pair of twins, and only one twin could get it, the other would need dialysis or transplant. How do you choose which child gets the kidney? There did not seem to be any conundrums like that, in this case.

The gift the surgeons gave the girls, but also the gift that the girls and the mother gave to scientific knowledge for the doctors and the hospitals is invaluable for both. Both sides benefit. Two girls who can lead a normal life, the Bhutanese doctor who went to Australia to watch and learn, and all the doctors involved who will be able to learn techniques to save 1,000s of others.
