I had a white '57 with a black interior. My first restoration ever was replacing the rotted wooden door sills. I hand cut and spoke shaved them to the proper shape with new inserted mounting bolts. I had a feeling of great satisfaction when it all fit so nicely. I was 18.
Wallis. The conversion is very straightforward. Hi-gear produces an excellent bell housing for the Ford gearbox plus a new prop shaft. I am not an engineer but managed the conversion easily. In fact, it was the one part of the rebuild that went without a hitch. The car has been transformed.
Miss seeing your four-legged co-pilot. 😉 I like this MG with it's upgrades. I think disc brakes would suit this one perfectly as well. Save the Wave.🙋🏼♂️
Only the 1600 MK2 and the Deluxe had the 1622 motor. The 1600 Mk1 had a 1588cc motor. Also, only the 1600 MK1, 2, and the Twin Cam had disc brakes. The 1500, 1955-59 had drums all round., and a 1489cc engine. I'm in Australia as well, and I suggest you do a little research before commenting.
1:30 Public Safety Announcement. Love this, as I too am a more technical driver, partly from motorcycles back in my younger years, but mostly from my career with NYS DMV. As such, I would warn New York drivers that casual use (non-emergency, or non-DOT or Enforcement) of the cross-connector "turnaround" @2:55 would be considered illegal in New York as evidenced by the solid yellow lines. Anyway, I love the car and wish I had the good fortune to be it's lucky next owner.
