disclaimer: it is SO HOT today, and my playing feels a little less than normal - welcome to the new normal! Timings in the comments and bottom of the description as well.
Today we're trying out the JSV2 from Houghton Horns. This is John Sebastian Vera's Signature mouthpiece, and it looks beautiful and plays great. We're contrasting it today with my two favorite mouthpieces - my personal daily driver, an LI Brass 550E, which is my soloist and chamber mouthpiece (full disclosure I am an artist with this company) and a Doug Elliot 104 XT G* G8 mouthpiece that I love for brass quintet playing and commercial work.

Update on the mouthpiece! You can find them through Houghton Horns at houghtonhorns.com/products/verus-sebastian-vera-tenor-trombone-mouthpiece-verusjsv the JSV line is from Pickett Brass, not Bob Reeves like I thought!

Have a question about intonation differences on each mouthpiece. I also love to experiment with mouthpieces and the problem is there is lot of models that seems not perfect in intonation. Bb is sharp F is sharp more than it normally is. In my case it is connected with cup depth. If it is shallower than the intonation is worse. What are Your experiences?

I find with the deeper cup mouthpieces that I like to use, that I have to make sure to I'm not relying on positions and expectations, but that I'm constantly using my ear to hear the intervals instead of waiting until something sounds "wrong". But that might be the same no matter what equipment I'm using, tbh.

When did you start playing trombone? I started last summer at 13 and I've been making slow progress when it comes to range, I can only play up to f#4

I started in 3rd grade in public school, took it seriously in 7th, but started practicing hard around 10th/11th grade.
