Love your videos! Your enthusiasm is matched by your deep understanding of the Toyota system and Toyota philosophy. Keep them videos coming brother. Background: I have had my last model year FJ since ‘14. It is like a mountain goat off-roading with 33” tires and stock suspension. I am keeping my eyes wide opened for this Lexus GX550.

For those concerned about reliability, the new GX uses the same 3.4L TTV6 as the LC300 and both the engine and the cars are built at the legendary Tahara Japan plant. But what’s better is that the HP of the LC300’s TTV6 in the GX is detuned to 349 HP compared to the LC300’s 409 HP. This means that the new GX is actually more reliable than the LC300. Crazy. I don’t think we have to worry about reliability. How has that uptuned engine been in the LC300 so far?

The 3.4 TT V6 is the engine of the LS500 since 2017 it is a proven very reliable engine the only cons is the 17mpg

Well, to be fair, that GX 550 has a 112.2" wheel base, while the Super-Duty has 168" wheel base. It makes a huge difference. Also it seems that the Lexus uses crawl control which is a magnificent system. 😀

Not to mention the extra weight the 250 is carrying, no front locker, unsure if he dropped tire pressure (hard to see here).

Got a local jeep hole, Trucks will come through struggling but mostly jeeps. I get some weird looks rolling down in my 470 and just walk through. Then turn around and do it downhill. Then drive away, they look at me like I am an alien.

The first time my wife drove it after I was done she was complaining about people staring at her. I was like yeah you joined a club and you didn't know it. Some give you the love some give you the finger. 3-inch ome, 33 mickeys on bronze icons, Front and rear arb bumpers with winch and full-size spare. Buds built rock sliders etc... It is certainly a disease.

not having e-KDSS is a serious issue... wish Lexus had put it on ALL trims of the GX550 like they did with the GX460..

It can do the hill, but the frame twister 1:06 will be more challenging. Probably still make it though. Heck a 2wd RX can make it if you drive fast enough 😀

In general turbos love loads due to their ability to make torque... most 18 wheelers are turbos

Off-topic, but I don't think many people know that according to Lexus' pre-order guide for the GX550 online, E-KDSS only comes on the Overtrail trims. It's not standard. Also, the LC250 is really the Prado. I just saw a European first-look posted a day ago and it was a first edition that had a black "Prado" badge below the "Land Cruiser" badge. Still, pretty impressive for off-roading as shown in the video.

NO front locker on the Overtrail. Overtrail gets rear locker... all trims get center locker. The LC300 has the front locker. No front locker for the USA

Nice, but it gets 17MPG with turbos. I think Toyota has gone and messed up. With fuel prices perpetually stuck above $3.50. Even the rich folks will be thinking twice.

I don’t think the comparison of the two vehicles is fair. You’re comparing a old work truck which is designed for payload and towing with a long wheel based vs a new SUV designed to be used off-road. You should compare using Ford Bronco for more fair comparison.
