Yeah I think them and Camillus and maybe one other company actually made more “Kabars” than Kabar did but the name stuck lol

Hi there Knife Doctor!!! I’m an old Army veteran who received a navy pilot survival knife from my Navy uncle in 1962. I took it to Cambodia in 1971 and still use it to this day. I was part of Operation Giant Slingshot and we contractors who worked with Hmong tribes and montanyars with Marine Force Recon and Navy. I know how you feel about your service… I have the distinction of having saved 9 Marines from certain death when I discovered that they brought hibachi’s into their tent for heat. It was 26 degrees at Fort Drum NY. They were lucky I could help! I never had any problem with the different services… to me we are all brothers! I saw this video on Veterans Day 2023… thanks for sharing your thoughts with us!!! The old Army Scout.

Great Great video man.. those knives were EARNED buddy..making them significantly sentimental.. I was moved with even the short and vague version of the back story to the knives.. I did not enlist but I do remember that time.. THANK YOU SIR .. maybe you can slide in a story or two one of these days.. Great video man.. 👍

Thank you for the awesome video, and Happy Birthday to the USMC. Thank you for your service. I remember id always look at my oldest brothers items he had when he served in the military with pure fasination. And his stories about the different vehicles, guns, weapons made me feel like i was talking to James Bond when i was a kid. I was a kid and never thought about what they actually had to use all of those things for. As i got older and realized the truth, it made me respect the military even more.

Semper Fi! I was always issued the Ontario knife. We abused them and they held up well. I also have the Kabar given to me by my son which I won’t use

Thank you sharing these items and thank for your service to the USA 🇺🇸. When they issue you your knife in those days, do you blackened the sheath and handle with boots polish or does it come that way? Also what is the main use for this knife? I know it can be used in combat, but do all Marines and Navy staff carry these at all time?

I think it’s called a “utility knife” in their official literature but that can mean a lot of things. I’ll be curious what the experts say
@theknifedoctor

It was already black. Everyone didn’t get a knife. I was at the right place at the right time. I didn’t wear it. I kept it in or on my pack. I used it for a lot of things. Opening MRE’s, I dug in the sand with it, just lots of things. Thanks for watching!
