This guy said a lot more intelligent things than most of the other radio stations and especially television stations. He didn't try to say that it was a small plane, didn't act like the second building should have been completely evacuated by the time the second plane hit, didn't try to say that there was a problem with air traffic control, recognized that there was very little chance of survival for anyone above the impact point and he called it as terrorism right after the second plane hit. And I'm only about 25 minutes in and I'm already impressed. Some of the other DJs and TV news reporters said some of the dumbest things, even considering that it had just started and there was so much they didn't know. But this guy did drive me crazy when he kept saying the smoke was bellowing over and over instead of billowing.

@@jerradmechals1 as someone who took Journalism class in High School even if it is obvious you have to ask an eye witness such questions because they have a different point of view than what may be seen from a tv camera Some channels had a camera view that didn't see the 2nd plane, just an explosion. Oh the 2nd building shouldve been almost evacuated by then. They got on the intercom and told people to go back up which doomed many people
@mothershelper1981
@mothershelper1981 2 года назад
@@basedjiren3889 that was so sad but they didn't have a crystal ball to know that the second tower was going to be hit especially since they were assuming that the first crash must have been an accident. In their thinking, they didn't need 50,000 people all evacuating the buildings at one time which would have made it even more difficult for emergency vehicles and equipment to be brought in. Plus people would have been at risk from falling debris. They thought the people would be safer staying put. Some people just weren't comfortable staying in the tower just in case and evacuated anyway. But even then not all of them would have made it because it took so long to get down from the upper floors and they only ended up having 18 minutes to do it.

I keep going back and watching and listening to these broadcasts to understand what I might’ve felt like as an adult when this happened. I remember being 8 and in my third grade class, and at that age you don’t really have the capacity to interpret a tragedy even of just one death let alone thousands. I didn’t understand why we got sent home from school early. I didn’t understand what terrorism was. And the first flight I ever went on was in 2003 in the midst of the War on Terror. I was so excited and my parents were terrified to fly again. If that would’ve been my first flight as an adult… I would’ve needed a Xanax…. No way would I have been so excited to fly. Like it’s so crazy how much a little kid’s brain just can’t understand……

My Kid was 5, first day of kindergarten. He told me they just played in the playground all day but he recognized the sadness and wanted to know what was going on. My wife at the time was working at the four season boston and they locked down the hotel as the saudi royal family was staying there and they figured out saudi was involved pretty quick. She didnt come home for 3 days. As an adult at the time I actually did need xanax the first time I flew after that so its funny that you reconize that! It was terrifying. I was in the Boston area at the time and as you know one of the planes came from there. One of my co-workers son was on the plane, another just happened to be at windows of the world on the 110 floor and also didnt make it.

I was in third grade and our teacher kept walking out of the room. We had just won a fundraising contest and were supposed to have a pizza party that week, so that’s what we thought was going to happen. Then one by one kids kept getting called to the office and told to bring all their things. The fire drill they held they day after probably wasn’t well thought out

I was in 3rd grade too, and I'm grateful my teacher kept us from knowing what was going on. My older brother saw it at school and then my dad was watching the news when we came home from school. I'm honestly glad I wasn't an adult when this happened. The closest we've probably experienced as adults is January 6th and the Ukraine invasion, and both of those gave me anxiety for days. I definitely needed Xanax for that.

@@yeetnama9094 I hope you're being sarcastic. Because the entire US is in betweeen Mexico and Canada, so where are people mass migrating into Canada from? If from the US then their mass migration can't be higher than ours because every one of the ones going into Canada first came through the US. We know that all immigrants don't leave into Canada so Canada would only have a fraction of what we have. I think what they were talking about is how easy it is to cross the Canada/US border at legal border crossings and perhaps how lax airport security was. Whether it was accurate or not.
@floridamarinemom1749
@floridamarinemom1749 4 месяца назад
Yeah unfortunately one thing that Americans tend to do is try and make others out to be guilty of things that it becomes apparent the US itself is guilty of. It's easier for them to think that another nation allowed 4 groups of people onto airplanes with weapons capable of taking over the planes. Turns out not only did they board in the US but they trained to fly the planes right here as well. I think the fact that Canada allowed a huge number of airplanes to land in their nation that were bound for the US is amazing. They didn't know if those planes had hijackers on board. They then took care of the passengers that were stranded there instead of being at their destination. We should be thanking Canada instead of criticizing them. Thank you! Not surprising though because the same guys assume that all taxi drivers from ME decent are terrorists. It's the ugliness of US bigotry.

How would they? It came in out of the blue, unexpected and really fast. And anyone standing on the opposite side of the building that was hit wouldn't have seen the plane, just the explosion. That's why some people thought it was a bomb at first. Even the people that were in view of it wouldn't have known unless they happened to be looking up right before it transpired.

Kate, you weren't there. You just don't know.

@@mothershelper1981 That and just the utter confusion, disbelief & conflicting information from witnesses during those first few moments. Some of these reporters I would guess were playing it safe at first (or some were just clueless) as to not cause panic, but after the 2nd plane hit it was plainly obvious what was really going on.

There is a camera that is always on the Manhattan skyline. The camera was point and focus on the WTC immediately after the crash and a minute later the picture was being shown live. The reporters can only say what they know and all they knew for sure was there was a huge fire.
