And finally I have a chance to say what I admire about mulsim people....its the way they keep it serious for prayers! They will stop whatever they are doing to go and pray. First, kudos to Lynn Ngugi who continues to bring us some great guests and interviews. This is a very good show because it teaches us that stereotypes are not only bad but dangerous & divisive. Second, it's good to hear a Somali-born Kenyan speak one of the languages, in this case, Kikuyu, fluently. It really shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone.. It seems to me that, if we can speak Queen's English AND other languages of western nations with so much pride after, sometimes, being in those countries for ONLY a year, surely we can also speak languages of the African nations into which we were born &/or grew up! I've seen Kenyans jumping up & down with joy on videos, because some mzungu who WAS either born in the country OR has lived there for decades happens to be speaking Swahilli or Kikuyu or Luo fluently. I'm like, "Why are these people going ape shit for?" We should take their speaking these African languages as a natural & respectable thing to do. The children of the former colonialists (y'all call them "white cowboys"?) still have so much contempt & disrespect for us that they won't as much as speak a word of Swahili. I've seen some of them in some of Kenya's fancy country clubs where they sit by themselves & won't as much as look in the direction of the Africans. In times like that, I've insisted to whoever brought me to the place that we leave. Congrats to Mr. Abdulla for his enlightening message!
