Heres a nu Tutorial on the combo skratch known as a Kermit. A Combo skratch is a type of cut that can be broken down into a shorter elementary skratches. In the case of the Kermit, we have two Chirps joined with a Flare that is the same length as both of the chirps combined. Amplitude Modulation is alsø explored in this film tø create different variations of chirp and flare heights. (pitch). A simple method of expressing this relationship between the Flare and the and the Chirps using an equation is saying Two Chirps with a half speed Flare or 2(Chirp)+.5Flare = Kermit. Another way of looking at it if one is considering the Flare to be the "normal" speed then one could say Two double speed chirps plus a flare equals a Kermit or 2(2xChirp) + Flare = Kermit. This form of TTM combo analysis can help break down skratch combos into more simple terms. Its also important tø not that all combos can gernarally be broken down further into Stabs, drags, cuts, chops, rubs etc when divided a skratch by its intercrossfader click movements. The Kermit skratch uses a symmetric set of clicks that are equally spaced apart. Also super big shouts to Alex Sonnenfeld for teaching me this skratch combo name. I first learned the combo's components , the chirp and the flare, In the mid 1990's from DJ Rob Wonder who had been taught buy Dj Klever. Although I may have randomly done the combo over thee years when transitioning between chirps and flares, I literally just started doing the skratch in the past few weeks. So its great tø have a name to these cool technique which can fit into skratch sets as well as juggling patterns. The follow up to this Ahh & Fresh Kermit skratch tutorial will feature the technique being used on a snare drum for the beat juggler's and scratch drummers out there.

The markings on the deck are a really useful idea! Great work dude, the breakdown and explanation of scratches are fantastic. A lot of tutorials skim over so much, they basically do it slow, then do it fast then say "thats how you do it" lol

This guy is a genius, I'm proud to say I had a cut session with him about. 20 years ago at his dorm room,, didn't realize how special he was back then.

I sometimes wonder where scratching would be today, if the "Ahhh!" sound had never been recorded and put out on 'Change the Beat'. Fab 5 Freddy claims it's his voice, but apparently it was really his manager who said it into the mic.

I've been doing this for the longest thinking it was a boomerang lol. Do you have any tips to avoid the two?
@TTMAcademy
@TTMAcademy 2 года назад
....to avoid what?...avoid doing a boomerang?......I would focus on the double time chirp..and then the flare..and just put them together....I actually dont do boomerangs myself because there are a lot of clicks and and hand movements without a lot of sounds being made....the same sound can be achieved with some orbit variations
