I think it’s weird that this gun has a 47 stability stat and yet the recoil is some of the easiest to manage for me on controller. Khvostov just feels so nice to shoot.
I think because of deterministic recoil those stats vary way more. In cases like this, that stab is only really there for the flinch resist. Otherwise the pattern and minimal kick is just a part of that deterministic recoil. Feels amazing.
@ROFLWAFFLELAWL4 you also have to consider each exotic and the rare legendary weapon has their own individual background tuning to help it feel better without having to directly touch the stats. That and that high aim assist probably pairs well with a high background accuracy stat
No other sound in the game gives me more dopamine than the "PING" of each ricochet bullet. This gun is just so satisfying in everyway, from feel to power to sound. Props to bungie for this exotic
It's SO good. I was lucky enough not to be affected by the glitch that delayed people from getting it, and I loved it from the first moment. It's been a while since I found a primary weapon I really love that isn't semi auto like DMT or Hawkmoon. This is a very nice change from that.
I immediately fell in love when i heard the old western ricochet sound. And then i fell in love again when i started slaughtering entire armies in a single magazine. And it also does some pretty good single target damage as well.
I had chills when I grabbed the legendary khvostov, but the exotic one made me remember just how fun it is to have a gun that just shoots things. It’s not fancy, except maybe for the ricochet, but it just feels so good to use
I’m genuinely obsessed with this gun. I’m typically a hater of auto rifles with a few exceptions. I decided to grind this because one of my friends wanted it. Man am I glad I got dragged into the grind for khvostov. This is by far my absolute favorite ad clear kinetic ever. The sound, the reload speed, the shoot to loot picking up orbs, even the looks from the first person view has me hooked. Ad clearing with khvostov feels like playing a mini game. I’m always looking for orbs as I shred through trash waves. It’s also amazing to think 7 years ago this was the first weapon we get and it’s utterly forgettable trash and to see it blossoming into a beautiful juiced out of its mind kinetic exotic is poetic.
Lets not forget the Legendary version you first pick up has FIVE!! perks to choose from. You can also enhance it meaning if you put the resources into it you can choose to run Enhanced Pugilist, Strategist, Demolitionist, Attrition Orbs or Multikill Clip.
Just based off the title. Couldn’t agree more. Time to watch the video Watched the video. Haven’t used it in pvp yet but I agree with all the other points. I’ve had it for two days and I’ve already racked up over 1k kills on it. It’s a main stay. Loved it in d1. I love it again
Dude, hunters should be the ranged melee class, and titans the punch class. I don't understand why titans are the ones known for spamming a ranged melee - consecration - and hunters for punching everything. More reason why bladedancer had more potential to be cool than arcstrider imo
Ive only seen it happen once but i one time was mowing down enemies with it and one of the ricochet bullets caught an orb of power in midair which was so fucking cool.
This thing shoots like absolute butter. It is a dream exotic. The Ricochet noises are 'Chefs kiss' and seeing that lever pumping away while shooting hip-fire style is so satisfying. The ornament you can purchase is S tier. So sticky on head shots in pvp as well.
I absolutely adore the format of the video and it's a glowing review of a classic I haven't gotten the gun yet, but I think it just jumped to the top of my list now. Thanks for the great content- keep it up! (By the way, the raid solar heavy burst pulse rifle is in a league of its own - I HIGHLY recommend it)
I didn't think I was going to use the gun, since didn't really look that great. But my god was it fun to play with! The enemies taking hits behind pilars and all. I do like it more than quicksilver storm.
The add management AND Prismatic meter filling from how many targets you are damaging simultaneously makes this the best Prismatic weapon. Also, Reaper modded hunters rise up!
When I got this gun back in my hands, it felt like seeing the return of a good friend. A friend whom you thought you’d never see again. It was beautiful
what really saves this weapon in my opinion is the feel of the reload. It's so fast, efficient and just feels fulfilling. A lot of great exotics miss that last step from being perfect by feeling like you're being rudely awakened when you reload. I've never felt that using this thing.
A good friend of mine is a huge Auto Rifle guy. He always wanted a good auto rifle with shoot to loot, now he has an exotic that feels like it was made just for him. Personally I don't like auto rifles, I enjoy sidearms. But for an exchange Ingot my portable failsafe I can now use with a buffed void titan, that really feels like back in Shadowkeep. I love having this back
I love the Khvostov for all the reasons you outlined, but also for how awesome it sounds when you get an empowered ricochet around a whole room full of ads. The pings make my earholes happy.
I brought it into contest salvation's edge. It was SO SO effective in the first three encounters for ads. Clearing rooms in first and third, and taking care of the attendants behind walls by shooting the orange bar knights in second encounter made those encounters so much easier. It's a workhorse of a weapon
For the catalyst, i think the 7th shot should bounce/target orbs of power (making it possible to chain bounces without needing to shoot the orbs yourself) and bounce from said orbs to enemies while increasing the number of bounces per bullet. Throw in a small damage boost when shooting orbs too maybe? I just really want this gun to become the king of ad clearing.
So it turned out that Khvostov's tecoil was bugged! The ricochet rounds were tuned to have -50% recoil, but because of wonky coding the recoil reduction instead applied to ALL rounds. Bungie has since patched the bug, but also compensated by heavily increasing the base stability.
I just finally finished the insane grind of getting this gun last night and now after watching this video i can't wait to try it in both PvP & PvE , ty!
As a long time shoot to loot enjoyer, god, being able to finally use an exotic primary and shoot to loot at the same time feels *awesome*! And it just obliterates ads in everything. Soon we'll see how good it is in GMs, but inside of Master NFs it was still tearing through everything, and I have never seen so many kills in Onslaught, I've consistently gotten over a thousand per game ever since I started using it with prismatic.
I’ve been kicking myself for the amount of brave weapons with shoot to loot I deleted. I had no idea until I got Khvostov…it’s so strong! This gun is a staple on my hazardous propulsion titan. Paired with an explosive light rocket, I don’t have to go into the fray to get my orbs for some pretty beefy rocket damage.
wait, what about Kinetic Surges? Does that change TTK/Forgiveness thresholds? With Reaper and Shoot2Loot you could basically Secure a charge off your first kill in a match with little risk possibly making it have potential for a follow-up.
Ever since I got this gun, I haven’t put it down. I’m actually having fun running double primary again which is crazy to me (my build needs void kills so I run this with word of crota on prismatic titan).
im not the greatest at crucible, but i excel with auto rifles in crucible. my favourite was vex mythoclast, but as soon as i tried this bad boy in crucible, it has literally replaced the VEX and it feels fantastic in crucible. I watched this for the PVE perspective as i havn't used it in PVE yet (im glued to microcosm shockingly, i love legit every exotic out of final shape) and damn i need to give it a go.
FYI, from my hours of exclusively using Khvostov in PVE and PVP, the juiced ricochets target orbs as if they're enemies, if there's no actual enemy nearby.
I almost clicked off when you said "shoot to loot, really?" but the very next sentence brought it back, shoot to loot is the cherry on top, its very good in GM's and is just so nice to use I find myself shooting orbs as they fall and ammo crates on guns that don't have the perk either. the reloading special and heavy weapons is just so nice too, I like the perk a lot!
Just a head's up, Bungie has confirmed that the additional damage part of the ''eye's up guardian'' description is inaccurate. It still does more bounces, it just doesn't actually provide additional damage
Apparently the recoil has been bugged. They’re fixing the bug but giving the gun 70 stability to compensate. I assume it’ll still have more recoil than it does currently, I’m just hoping it’s not too bad.
The only thing wrong with it is that the ricochet should target orbs of power. Shooting such a small hitbox from a distance to get the powered up shots is a pain in the ass.
I could be wrong, but I thought the pre-release trailer for Khvostov displayed the ability for ricochets to target ammo drops, which then proc'ed Shoot to Loot. If I'm not crazy, ammo collection becomes even easier, as it would be done for you
I think that was either a bug or something they decided to disable so players would have better agency over exactly when they wanted to pick up that ammo for the reload. But still dang cool.
My problem is that when compared to other exotics, its not a great pick when you can only pick one. That and the amount of time it takes to unlock makes it definitely not worth it, despite it feeling really good
I've been loving the Khvostov. Another recommendation to get more orbs (probably good for pvp specifically) is to have reaper mod. It means using your class ability can get you that first orb from just one enemy :)
I just got my very first 2k power drop (terrible Dead Orbit world drop sidearm) and I thought for a second "what should be the first weapon I bring up to pinnacle cap?" It was only right for it to be Khvostov.
Yall want something more busted. Run the Khvostov with the Actium war rig. For some reason the auto loading system pushes the seventh bullet to the first bullet you fire after every second or two. So when you enter combat and fire the first bullet, It will be the seventh bullet.
Since I saw the preview for this gun I was like, “I guess it’s okay” then I saw datto using it in the worlds first race and I was like “maybe I should try this out??” And holy shit it’s so good. The first gun to make me put still hunt down for more than a couple minutes! (I’m a hunter who’s been maiming solar since it got it’s rework in haunted so double nighthawk go Brr)
Love the content, however, please have a look at the frequency curve of your voice. I think you should put an EQ filter and reduce the base on your voice a smidge, in my headphones it is very boomy (not in a good way). Thanks!
As a controller player I don't think I've ever disagreed harder with a assessment of a weapon the Ammit AR2, prosecutor, positive outlook, SUROS Regime and Centrifuse all feel leagues above Khvostov from recoil, to target acquisition to just the over all feel. I don't think I've ever been this disappointed in a gun
For a legendary equivalent to this, don't underestimate target lock. Yes, this is better, but target lock on 600s is better than people give it credit for. Extra bodyshot for optimal TTK, and low resils get melted in 0.7s.
The fact that getting Khovostov is so heacily reminiscent of the old D1 quests, where no one knew what quest dropped what exotic, and when quests werent shown in a tab and instead you had to keep track of the steps by yourself made me feel so much happiness.
There are a couple solutions to this, one worked for me, but is kinda goofy. First, the easiest one to try is to put those motes in your Vault, and kill the Servitor boss in The Blooming,. Allegedly this works for most people, but I could literally see the last mote go flying through the ceiling of the cave. So, what worked for me was once the boss was on the final chunk of health. I climbed onto the branch above him as he died, and managed to catch it before it went to orbit. I had all 16 motes on me at the time.
@@LegateGrantI did put my 16 motes in the vault and got Khvostov but now I’m permanently stuck with 16 motes with no way to dismantle them. They’re just there to fill up space in my inventory or vault now.
@@EtotheFnD You bet, hope it works. It may take a few tries, but once you see where the mote is going, it's not so bad. Thankfully the bosses rotate when you kill them, so you can kind of game it to your advantage. I just kept going to orbit if I didn't get it.
good video! While watching it/ hearing it, it feels like you are telling me something really important, not related to a game. The way you talk + the music. Do you do other content?
regarding the design, idk why but the carry handle look of the red dot kinda feels incomplete if there's no "front sight post" at front imo, but still, a cool gun regardless
