C/U of a small child - probably 3 or 4 years old. The child holds onto a wheel and smiles at the camera.
M/S of the child sitting on a very strange contraption which is a special motorised vehicle for children. It looks like a tiny motorbike with a very large wheel around it. Bizarre.
M/S of the child driving along with a man running along beside her. It goes pretty fast and looks quite dangerous. The kid drives through some horse manure left on the road! The adult manages to avoid it.
This is cute stuff! The kid keeps his cool throughout!

I noticed that but it then occurred to me that this contraption had one advantage in that the placement of the rider within the wheel would mean that all the manure would be thrown off the wheel through centripetal force and away from the rider not up their back. The fact that stopping this thing was slow and hazardous however rather outweighs this minor an unintended advantage.

Lol! "Advanced"... After watching this video, did it occur to anyone that they did not show the vehicle starting or stopping? Hit the brakes, and the kid immediately does a faceplant. This video is pure showmanship, and there is a reason there is a man running alongside: that contraption is a death trap. You notice they don't show the kid's face while riding. He is terrified, bruised and likely bleeding.

@@shanefiddle . The kid won't faceplant because gravity keeps the centre of the monowheel upright while the speed is changed. And you can clearly see the kid's face in the video.

Do you fall off a bicycle when you hit the brakes? no and you can also clearly see the boys face while hes riding, and hes smiling, and you can also notice that there are no bruises, no bleeding. the man is running alongside just as a parent would with their child on a bicycle, to supervise them, and try to catch them incase they fall. your comment really is something else

You gotta have in mind that a lot of the stuff they had at the time didn't really work. Some people insist on bringing some ideas back, but it's really just insisting in a 100 year old mistake. This wheel and battery-electric cars are examples.

Excellent question. I don't know the answer but have a couple of theories. I think it's fair to say it was vehicle mounted and there were spring and counter balanced stabiliser mounting systems used for things like Chaplin films. Perhaps something similar. Perhaps it was filmed in a larger frame and the film manually cropped to smooth. (Doubt it.) Or perhaps the people who uploaded and RU-vid added digital stabilisation. (It is a RU-vid video editor option on upload.) It could just be a smooth road and a steady operator.

I love this style of vehicle! Give me a single wheel surrounding the rider and I'm as happy as a sandboy. Sure it's impractical as all get out but it's just so awesomely cool. This needs to be made real, like I could buy one.
