Adi Sh Nice Video! Forgive me for chiming in, I would appreciate your initial thoughts. Have you ever tried - Trentvorty Perfection Kidney Theorem (probably on Google)? It is a good one off guide for improving kidney function minus the headache. Ive heard some unbelievable things about it and my old buddy Taylor finally got excellent results with it.

i hope someone sees this comment soon, but since we are getting rid of a lot of water from the nephron and even more going down the collecting tubule, then how does our urine still contain 95% water? where does this water come from ?

Can I have a question? When water leave the tubulus and go to medulla, what happen with the water? I mean when is too much water in medulla, it started to be hypotonic (it will be less concentrated). Are there some capillaries for transport the water out ?

Think of Efferent as Exiting from center. Efferent = Exiting. (Afferent is going in.)

i need some help. At the proximal convoluted tubule, water begins to reabsorb, but in the descending part of the loop of Henlé, does the water move out again? Also, i didn't understand clearly what the 2 functions of the loop of Henlé were. Thanks

Nephrons are a crucial part of the kidney, buy would qualify more as tissue. All tissue is made up of cells, but nephrons aren't singular cells.

Nephrons are the functional unit of the kidney. You can also call it renal parenchyma. Not really sure what part of the video you wrote that in response to, but he's correct in calling the nephron the smallest functional level of the kidney.

Thank you for the great video! To avoid confusion, the descending limb is not ONLY permeable to water it is also partially permeable to ions but for the sake of explaining, he simplified the concept to make it easier to understand.

I have been doing well in my class but all I have been doing is memorizing the textbook and regurgitating it back when I take the exams. But by watching your videos, I actually UNDERSTAND the material. It's really sad that college students all around the world are paying hundreds of thousands of dollars and not learning anything.

PSA: It is slightly misleading when you say only a little bit of H2O leaves the proximal tubule because about 67% of the filtered water is reabsorbed into the peritubular capillaries.

This video does not explain thing of practical importance. In regards to water, salt, blood pressure relationship, back flushing of the filtration system. Still leaves much room for wild hypothesis. Like would drinking a huge amount of water help backflush, clean filter, lower blood pressure via less hormone signaling-making the filtration go easier?.... Seems like too little salt would make kidneys work harder, by watching this. But, I doubt this is true in reality. Something isn't right or complete with the model.

Great for 99%, apart from concentration at DCT which isn't very concentrated at all. Mostly reliant on collecting duct, just look at diabetes insipidus

mahen3791 - I think the ions/water in the interstitium from filtering out in the Loop are picked up by the Vasa Recta, the vasculature that dips down around the Loop of Henle from the efferent arteriole.

I just don't understand....... These seem to be sooooo hard and seeing the comments I can say that these are taught to college students but we are learning this all in class 7! Btw thank you, this is really helpful. I hope I am gonna top this time.

These videos cater to a variety of tests like AP, nursing, school/college and then the videos are collected and then dumped under MCAT. These are not dedicated videos for MCAT. The end result is a lot of fluff not needed for MCAT and in kidney terms this needs to filtrated. Too much nonsense
