I don't think they'll release this technology to the public when its done cos not profitable for "businessmen". There ia no profit if the problem is fixed
I am 24 years old with a rare CKD and a few months away from being on dialysis. This will be a huge breakthrough. I look forward to this as I have not got a chance to live
From Brasil. This is a great victory for the human being. Must be for all and accessible and no burocratic. Milions of people are waiting a successfull kidney transplant. Will be perfect. Blessings the cientists.

Hello sir i am from your native country Bangladesh. You know are poor so would appreciate if you can give an idea when we can expect this artificial kidney in Bangladesh within our cost range. We are proud for your achievements and like to get further help very soon.
We remain hopeful, unfortunately, the hoops that have to be jumped through for funding and trials makes it a slow process. As a lifelong kidney patient, who has had one rejected kidney, and been on dialysis the last 16 years waiting for a match, believe me, I feel your frustration, but, I am hopeful, because there is more research in kidney disease going on than ever before. Sadly, as I sit on dialysis writing this, its all about holding onto hope for what is on the horizon, someday and I hope I'll be around to see it.
Trust me, Fresenius and DaVita are probably sending every lobbyist they can get their hands on to DC to try and stop this. The FDA is a joke, they drag their feet on everything.
Thanks to Allah..and thanks all the person who makes this artificial kidney. Specially shuvo roy sir My mother is a kidney patients... She need a artificial kidney... When will come to our country Bangladesh?
I am excited, i dont think i could do trials due to living in jacksonville florida but i would in a heartbeat to be off of my hemo 3 days a vweek and enjoy my 40s like a normal peron would be lifechanging. Thankyou 5o the doctors dedicating their lives for us. My mother has been on the list for 10years i have been on dialysisfor 4 years
How much time to impliment? It was almost 4 yr back, Your work on this is nil progress, Try to impliment in early so that crores of ckd may live safely.
This is a great project. I have been on dialysis for 10 years and have been waiting for a transplant, but I still don't know when. Or, there is no guarantee that you will receive it by the time you die. Kidney disease can be overcome whenever such a project is legislated and accessible to everyone. I want to receive it right away. Please help us so that we can implement it in Japan as soon as possible.
How far along are you guys before people can start getting these artificial kidney transplants? I've been on dialysis now for 7 years and this will definitely change my life so thank you and God bless you and looking forward to this.

I don’t think they are prolonging it, it’s an ambitious project and sadly, there is not enough funding devoted to innovation in kidney disease. I do know they are actively working on it, but, to get to human trials, there are a lot of hoops that they have to jump through and the speed at which it can be completed is directly related to the amount of funding they can raise. I think we’ll see it, I just am not sure how soon it will be. But I remain hopeful, as I sit here with needles in my arm right now.
Hey, My wife is suffering from CKD and currently on dialysis for the last 3 years (in Pakistan). we have no blood relation donor. So I am very tense for her. We are planning a transplant in the future. Can anyone tell me is it worth waiting for the device? please help me.
Hi Dr.Roy. I was diagnosed for ESRD in 2008.Was on hemodialysis for a year & then on peritoneal dialysis from 2009 till now.How can I sign up to for the test project?

I am on dialysis and have been on for 5 years, nothing has been said about this invention, my clinic knows nothing about this. We need more information about this so I can get on the list to have this procedure done. I want to travel up to your hospital and have this done to me. I live in Ridgecrest CA.
I don't know I am skeptical about this.dont dialysis companies have a lot to lose if it comes out? I don't see any help from FDA or us govt on this..I think they will try to delay as much as possible. Follow their Facebook page the kidney project ucsf . they post updates and respond to messages
Not only do we need this but to find the reasons whywe have so many with kidney failure-I mean BOTH kidneys???! Why are both failing so completely. Makes little sense unless it is something we are filtering that is causing it to stop working.

Never mind, I think Graphene is too toxic for the human system. I am concerned about the "Sheer" and how blood flow will work in the UCSF's artificial kidney system.

I don't think it will come in to market for another 10 years. Dialysis as become business, only in America its $100b every year, due you think pharmacy industry will allow this device to come into market. Dr Roy is working on this project for about 15 years and still says he require another 10 years.
Not done yet. I'm pretty sure they are soon going to enter the clinical testing phase. It will probably be another 5 to 10 years befor made available to the general public
