Hearing Alek trying to meme-speak his way through his police interview, after just killing a bunch of people, is maybe the cringiest thing I have ever seen in my life.
I had to stop the video for a while when he called his people Pepe the frog types. Like what? How is anyone supposed to take that seriously. I genuinly feel bad for the detective.
This case always hit close to home. My mother worked in the area of the attack. She and her coworker would always go on walks at lunch for the exercise. When the news broke I was frantically calling her. I couldn't get her, I was about to call one of my siblings then the phone rang. She had a meeting that ran long so she had to skip her walk. I was never so happy about a meeting taking place. The whole day was horrific.
Our son is socially awkward and is on the spectrum of autism. Let's encourage him to get in the army, I'm sure all his problems will be solved and no one will bully him. Gonna have the time of his life there. Smh.
@@hennylo68 For someone on the spectrum, "discipline" is not the problem. This wasn't a lazy kid who couldn't get his act together and needed to get kicked into shape, this was a boy who was mentally ill and needed help, kicking was the LAST thing he needed. I'm not sure what "these kids" you're referring to, but it kinda sounds like Elliot's "you girls" - a disdainful, blanket condemnation of an imaginary group that you mentally replace real people with.
he unironically called himself that, along with magnificent, beautiful, and other superlatives that did not really apply, and said that women were stupid to reject him
Ok wait but why is nobody talking about the cop that didn’t fire his gun when he pulled his wallet from his waistband and then very smartly took control of the situation. That was very very good situational awareness.
It's pretty remarkable how quick to asses, respond, and deescalate a situation as well and flawlessly as this officer did; and still no complication or harm during capture.
the interrogation made me cringe so much.. him talking about "pepe the frog" "chads" "staceys" "normies" outside the internet is so weird and cringeworthy
And that "Pepe the Frog" is a symbol of worship! A small part of my mind wants to laugh at this clown, but the rest of my mind is overruling it by being too weirded out by how serious he is and by remembering that he killed 10 random people and injured 16 more random people. Plus there's a Full Metal Jacket quality to his military experience and Facebook posting that I thought about while watching this video.
These people are maladapted to normal life, being pushed together into a dark corner where they develop their own culture and hatred towards those of the society that pushed them aside. 'normies' 'pepe'and' Stacies' is just their twisted language of hatred.
if that was an American officer, Alek would have gotten shot and died. So many American officer seems to try to escalate the situation just so they can use excess force. Great job office Ken! You are the model LEO that all officers in America should follow.
Almost all officers are like him. Sadly, they have to deal with criminals that actually try to hurt them, especially in America where criminals are raised thinking they are above the law.
Coming from someone who is autistic, all the defense really tried to do was blame it all on something they don't really understand, and thus was trying to give people like us a bad rep. So frustrating...
As a fellow autistic man i totally agree. I struggle with social interaction with my classmates every day but I don't want to hurt them for my lack of social skills.
@acmhfmggru I could argue with you over this, but I won't since so many in society believe anything and everything that happens when the news talks about crime and mental illness automatically assumes it is because of what ever their affliction may be. No one truly knows what it's like to be on this side unless they are on the same side of the fence. They just think they do because it justifies their false beliefs. Like me, hate me, I could care less

"ah yes our son is emotionally delicate, struggles to cope with bullying, and can't interact with others without great difficulty... Let's encourage him to go to the army!"
There is a strange belief that going into the army will cure any psychological problem you have. I’m sure it helps people whose main problem is they need discipline, even regimentation - but there are some people who will crack under the same conditions. Perhaps if Alex hadn’t tried and failed in the army, he’d never have hit the depths he did.
As a matter of fact I did just that. I thought the military would help me gain social confidence, and it did. I expected discipline, structure, and to have goals that I could reach. That's how the recruiters sell it, after all. In reality being in the military is one big mind game where you are set up to fail so that you are forced to rely on your team and your command. It's not a self-help program.
If you were a lazy student with huuge problems regarding discipline, then going to the army works (it did for me), but in this case? It really did more damage than good, especially if the person is not cut out for the military. You need a thick skin; not only because of your superiors, but some of your fellow grunts as well. He really needed psychological treatment as soon as possible instead...

I seriously laughed out loud when they tried to use being Autistic as a defence. I'm Autistic, I have empathy. The vast majority of Autistic people HAVE empathy no matter where we fall on the spectrum. We get claimed to lack it due to having issues showing it at times, but we DO have empathy. The idea of his lawyer using that defence is so insulting.
Lawyers are like that, they'll say the most disgusting shit to defend crimes. Many people know that autistic people can have empathy, especially those with Asperger's like alek had, who are in the high intelligence spectrum. My boyfriend has asperger's and he's the most empathetic person I've ever met, the biggest sweetheart. And aleks big cringe moments have nothing to do with autism, only to do with incel-ism. He dead ass said "converting life status into dead status" to describe murdering like holy shit
as a hyper empathetic autistic person that shit is infuriating. autistic people are generally very compassionate with or without empathy. that idea that we arent compassionate is part of why so many people are biased against or outright hate autistic people.
My brother is autistic too. He is very empathetic. He just has a hard time expressing emotion the same way others do. This man has no excuse. He is a monster.
"and what about the normies", hearing that from a senior detective.. has me rolling LIKE.. but all jokes aside people with his mindset and willingness to act on it are terrifying
Lmao him trying to act tough following the cop with the wallet to bait him into taking a shot. The second that cop walked up on him he dropped to the floor with the quickness 😂
Listening to that interrogation makes me believe that mental illness is contagious. When frustrations fester, things become a lot worse when you surround yourself with frustrated people. The internet is a cesspool for the darkest of rabbit holes.
I really like the fact that you include the victims, their lives and even their faces at the end of your videos. You don't always get that on true crime channels and it's one of the things that, to me, makes you stand out. Kudos!
I too appreciate the fact that we can rely on Adrian to have a sensitive approach to talking about the victims of the crimes he covers. And to give us an opportunity to reflect on their image and humanity and to acknowledge their loss.
The victims' names and faces should always be focused on. Showing loads of attention to the perpetrator encourages more to commit other crimes for the attention
When people don't show the faces it's because they want to keep the focus on the killer(s), or it could be out of respect for the victims and their families if they weren't asked for permission. But of course it's also respectful to acknowledge their existence.
@@muadhnate It's helpful if you can adapt quickly to this new environment, routine etc. and fit in with your peers, not so much if you are socially awkward or on the spectrum.
It doesn’t say much since his job is just to get the suspect to talk in general. Cops don’t just walk into a murder suspect’s interrogation and say “this guy is a weirdo I’m leaving”. It’s their literal job to ask them questions and get them to talk, and this guy was more than willing to talk.

Doesn't excuse the loss of life, but I don't think the self-improvement angle works for most of the population.
When that cop asked “if the families of the people you murdered were in this room right now, what would you say to them?” You could see the wheels spinning in his head almost like “Oh shit, they have families?” Like for a second he realized this is REAL. This ain’t fake ass internet 4Chan shit, these are real people with real loved ones who are dead…. That was a great question posed by that detective.
@@thebluemorpho2962 I’ve watched a lot of interrogation videos but I don’t think I’ve ever seen the question posed in that exact way. Usually when they test for empathy (and guilt) they’ll say something like “What do you think should happen to the person that committed this crime?” Or “How do you think their family feels?” But I’ve never heard them say “If the family was sitting right here in the room with us, what would you tell them?” Phrasing it in that way seemed to get to this guy for a split second.
I am an Incel too. By definition. In 31 years every women rejected me. And no women ever showed interest in me. A lot of people here miss why being an incel/virgin affects these people. People have a need for romantic encounters and realationship. It is attached - like every need - to your personal preferences. Some people want a long lasting marriage, other an open realationship and some want only one night stands. But what all people (with a sexual orientation) have in common is the activity seeking for some sort of romantic emcounter with the opposite sex. And God beware. If they dont get it. My female coworker cried when she was single for three months. My sister complained how the lockdown restricted her of hooking up and how it affects her mental health. Only two tell two of hundred examples. Well. Threre are men and women who dont recive the slightest amount of this because they get chronically rejected. They dont experience a dose of any romantic intimacy for years. They walke up alone, they go to bed alone, they nrver have a hug, they never have a kiss and all other things which envolve around this kind of realationship. Thats whats bad. As a person on the spectrum myself, I am really unnerved by the number of spree killers in the spectrum. I was horribly bullied as a kid, by peers and teachers. I remained bitter about the way I was treated into adulthood. Never found any comfort in thoughts of murder though.
The way he was speaking in the interview was just wow. He is if 4chan was a person. It’s almost funny until I remember the poor people who lost their lives.
What's creepy is how I shared many of these traits, the personality, the mentality, being a social reject and bullied. I wish I could pinpoint what got me out of it because it's been so long ago. I worked on myself a lot, like rather than claiming to be a gem, I did so many life improvements and milestones to get people to believe I was a gem without telling them. I think these people needed help, no bullying, no judgements, they needed some kind of eye opening experience. Unfortunately, they created their own community advocating this kind of behavior. Again, it's insane how I'm able to share and sympathize with this guy. I could have been one of these killers. And now I got a wife, a child, two kittens, a great job, and loving life.
@@AntiquatedApe That would be correct, having nothing but bad experiences happen to you can escalate that, its no excuse to kill of course but these kind of people don't just spawn out of nowhere.

As of June 13th, 2022, Alek has been found guilty and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for 25 years. It's scary to think that this man could be walking free in the future, but hopefully he gets the counseling he needs and leaves reformed.
Hopefully, he gets the counseling he needs and never leaves, just like his victims will never leave. We can all rest easy knowing he's no longer an incel. As he's now involuntarily un-celibate, which seems like the end he deserves.
Should also add that in Canada, possibility of parole after 25 years is our max sentence. Our justice system is based more on rehabilitation than on retribution, so that is why. That being said, people like Clifford Olson and Alek here don't get parole. We do legitimately release people that have followed through and are no longer considered a threat to society, like our Greyhound Bus beheader. I have mixed feelings about our system because I do believe people who truly turn themselves around and are not a threat should be given a second chance, but I also wish we had the death penalty. I guess that hope for freedom is what makes our justice system what it is, while still being able to keep dangerous people locked up.
Chiming in as a Canadian to say that the Supreme Court here doesn't allow for NO possibility of parole as it presumes a hopeless state where rehabilitation is impossible. Alek got the max possible so basically he cannot apply for 25 years and like Bernardo, he will probably get denied every two years once he's eligible.
He won't parole. All the victims family members will be there to remind the parole board of how callously he murdered their family members. He's going to die in prison.

I can relate to Alec’s frustration. However, I never blamed anyone else but myself for my inadequacies. I can’t keep a job or maintain relationships. I suppose we call them cat ladies.
Im a woman who's chosen to be single throughout my life, as I am 'aromantic' and 'asexual' I think thats how its called nowadays( I feel bad when I reject guys and cant properly explain lol). But what if you find someone who's a little 'weird' like you, theres someone for everyone. I noticed that my female friends go for people who don't have equilibrium with them, and my male friends do the same- all just base on physical attraction before even seeing if they would be happy with that person. If you start looking at those with whatever niche hobbies you have, and go to things like meetups etc. Youre sure to find someone. Also try not to focus on anyone in the rooms you go into, look aside from people who probably don't even give you a second thought and focus on what you came there for. Same for with work, focus on the job- almost all people have had someone in their job that harrasess or makes them feel outcasted, but if you just walk in and say "I just want money" and do your job, no matter what others say, you're invincible. Sorry this post was long! -btw dogs are the best companions anyways!
I know a woman who is exactly the same. Not a freak- just different. And yes, she is a cat lady. And there’s nothing wrong with her or you or the lives you have. It was interesting to hear Minassian use the phrase "True Forced Loneliness". I remember that movement from the late 2000s. We didn't have the term "incel" at the time, so True Forced Loneliness morphed into Incel.
Canadien Cop: This gun looks strange, better not shoot him. American Cop: Bumm, Bumm, Bumm...Is he dead? ...Good, now I can check this strange looking thing in his hand.
@@JuanRanklin or rather the incorrect, and irrational option. these police aren’t trained to panic and open fire. this isn’t America, where even a child can easily get ahold of a gun. and thankfully, because this man wasn’t shot dead on sight, we were able to discover more about how dangerous incel culture is AND he can rot in prison for the rest of his miserable life.
I hate the fact that Alek Minassian murdered ten human beings, but he still gets to live his "happily ever after". I mean, now that he's in jail, I'm sure he's not a virgin anymore.
As a girl living right outside of toronto i should find this really serious, but hearing him refer to himself as "a pepe the frog type" had me cackling
It is a legit cult. Incels, anti fa, vaxxers, antivaxxers, TDS people, MAGA people, megachurches, PETA/greens and so on - all these are legit cults. Every person there thinks that if they don't follow the cult the world's gonna end and that all the people who aren't with them aren't proper people.
This guy went to my rival high school and graduated around the same time I did. The stretch of Yonge St near Finch that he terrorized is an area I pass through daily. I pointed out the memorial plaque placed at Olive Square Park to a friend a few weeks ago. To say this case hits home is an understatement
So weird that he’s talking matter of factly about incel culture to a Senior Detective like it’s a reasonable thing. It actually sounds like he’s recounting a synopsis of a Saturday morning cartoon. Kudos to Senior Detective Rob Thomas. Friendly but effective.
When I saw Korean writing where he was driving, my heart sank a bit. There were 3 Korean victims so i was a bit less shocked but still devastated. No one there deserved to die and the ages are not what matters its the life the person had and the family they leave behind. saying "i completed my mission" by trying to kill 30 people who were just walking around the town is just sad. I see people of all races and age here and I feel equally as bad for their family.. I wish the world did not have things like this in it. Everyone lives their life not thinking they will be killed because its so unlikely. When it happens its just so heartbreaking to see. To anyone who reads this, please try to think about how your actions effect others. No matter what the thing is, just try and understand that there is an action and reaction.
These incel forums need to be monitored somehow by the FBI or something and all these losers need to be locked away. They are a growing threat to women.
id just like to point how fucking amazing kens handling of the situation was, being able to in the heat of the moment discern that alex was bluffing with his wallet and not a real gun and taking a non lethal approach is so refreshing to see as an american
I read about the psychiatric assessment of Alek by an American psychiatrist who asserted that Alek didn’t understand what he was doing in a real world way. The insanity defense (basically) was based around Alek’s “extreme” autism with a “severely distorted” view of the world that was like a form of psychosis. The issue with that whole defense is that he would have to not understand that he was actually killing people, but that was the whole point of what he did according to his police interview. He knew he was killing the “Chads” and that was the whole purpose. The psychiatrist said that the only way he “could make sense of” Alek’s view and explanation of what happened was that he was detached from reality; yet his job wasn’t to “make sense of” Alek’s actions and reasons, it was to assess whether Alek understood what he did. It’s like the psychiatrist couldn’t accept that this damaged man knew *exactly* what he was doing and why. Just because someone is suffering from some sort of psychological condition doesn’t mean that they can’t be warped and evil. Too many people believe that we can’t be critical of damaged people because that’s not being a compassionate and caring person. It’s not cruel or wrong for Alek to face serious consequences for his actions. He forever changed many lives by killing loved ones belonging to families. 😢
