I’ve never heard a cover that made me see the influence of the band covered on the band performing the cover so obviously before. This sounds like a Killers Song. 16+ years before it’s time. :)
I've seen the Cure 5 times, since 1992...and I've seen them do Push live. I cringe with fear when I see someone covering them....The Killers did a great job! bravo, Brandon!
I loved the cure, Head on the door, is my favourite album and push is one of their most underrated songs. Then there’s the Killers, who were the reason I started listening to music again in the early 2000’s. Brandon Flowers wow what an incredible vocalist
I've always loved The Killers, but Brandon's listing of my favorite bands (except for The Cars... meh) on hand-me-down cassette tapes made me love them even more.
The Killers are awesome man. Don't get distracted by the ridiculous golden suit (it's part of the concept of the album they're touring with). Their songs have a very similar emotional punch as a lot of Cure songs. I was a fan of The Cure long before I was a fan of the Killers btw
ThatOnePerson a similar “emotional punch” to this feelgood album filler maybe, or to Friday I’m in Love, not to 10:15 Saturday Night or Hanging Garden or Snakepit or Give Me It or A Forest or All Cats Are Grey or Lullaby or Wailing Wall or Caterpillar or any number of songs from their 1979-89 heyday that attest to Robert’s range, originality and singularity as a songwriter.
Agreed! It’s my favorite Cure song as well. For me it’s not simply the brilliance of the music and lyrics, but where I was when I first heard it in 1985: 20 years old and not a care in the world but showing up at my college classes. Going to concerts by everyone Brandon mentioned. I heard the Cure version a few months ago having not heard it in a long while and it was an amazing magic musical time machine that transported me right back to 1985.
Been a Cure fan since I was 15 (reverse those numbers now!) & this version is utterly superb. The only criticism I have is that it was a lot lot shorter than the original
i could see the cure themselves doing that if they have a bunch of other songs to do since it's pretty much just repeated with vocals later though i don't like it when metallica doesn't play all of am i evil anymore or if ever again since with dave mustaine not much
Nice! They did a pretty faithful cover of the song. And I like the introduction too. I kinda figured that Brandon and the band was influenced by all those other bands of the 80s. You can really hear it in their music.
I used to hate covers but now I appreciate them, especially when done as well as this one. Also pretty cool to hear a band that I like reminiscing about a band THEY like or were turned onto to later in life. I grew up loving the Cure and have seen them several times but I also think the Killers are great.
No kidding, my first concert was the Cure in St. Louis and my older brother took me. I'd love if the killers did a couple more Cure songs sometime! Push was great though! I've been a huge Killers and Cure fan forever now!
Just listened to this and realised, after so many years (and it's a lot), why I'm a fan of both Push and the Cure. This song still makes me tingle and still makes me cry, and still makes me want to pick up the guitar coz I can. And in a moment I suddenly become 17 again - excellent cover
No, really similar...as a big Robert Smith and The Cure fan it was so delightful to find finally a band who is so good live like the Cure and who has a charismatic, energetic front man whose voice is similar and sings powerfully as Robert does...
The last song on hot fuss is clearly an homage to the cure. "Everything will be alright" I think it's called. Sounds like a legit cure song. Even has lyrics from a cure song: "I'm coming to find you if it takes me all night". Maybe that's where the killers got their name as well? Killer cure was one of the names the cure had before becoming the cure.🤯
@@lakinworley5685 everything will be alright is not a cure song. It was written by Brandon Flowers and the lyric "I'm coming to find you if it takes me all night" is a nod to the cure as it is from the cure song "a night like this".
Apart from their own music which is not incredible They do amazing covers to respect the countries they visit. Uk obviously influenced by uk artists. Eclectic influence of their music. Brandon had a beautiful voice and his talented band/musicians.
Yeah it's a shame, part of the magic of the song is the epic musical arrangement. I always feel that in that song the actual singing is part of the music rather than the focal point.
The Cure is my all-time favorite band and has been for 30+ years...I also love The Killers and Brandon's solo stuff...but this was a little underwhelming for me. Not offensive (like most Cure covers) but I feel like they left way too much of the instrumentation out.
They are in Salt Lake, Utah, probably the place with the biggest fanbase since Brandon Flower is a mormon, and he grew up in nearby Nephi, UT. He is probably singing in fron of a lot of friends. He is going to tell some stories.
