this band has dominated my life lately. they encompass everything i love about life and creativity from every angle. the freedom, the openness, the camaraderie, the pushing of envelopes. jamie had completely inspired my own guitar/song writing in a way that few have. i just love their aesthetic. i love everything this band represents and stands for. some may call it "pretentious" but i disagree. in this day and age, anything honest and heartfelt is labeled pretentious. whatever. i love this band
why doesn't hotel get more recognition as a song writer and guitarist he composes all that himself he gets amazingly full tones out of those cheap sixties guitars with their cheap single coils( i know i have a few myself) and writes songs often around a single static beat. This songs a good example he kept me interested for 4 minutes and the beat remained the same through out yet the song didn't lack depth. That's no easy task.
I haven't many the these guys' songs, but this is easily my favourite. It's amazing in so many ways, literally everything about it, every single sound is necessary and makes the piece more complete
@LuisEstrada326 Because I know how to play this song. And if you look carefully on how he plays it, his hand goes all the way to the 7th fret, which is G in D tuning (dropped C). And he used a POG (Polyphonic Octave Generator), and delay to get this sound.
@MyNameIsAlexDavidude you're absolutely right about the tuning, i have noticed the change from drop B (of the first recordings), to drop C in the live presentations.
@DamonRecordCo Yeah, i doubt that she's depressed or anxious. She's usually just really shy in interviews. And here i'm pretty sure she's just putting her heart into the song which is not exactly a "happy" song. If you see the "Future Starts Slow" live session from Radio 1 she seems perfectly fine. Regarding the fear of sunlight thing, she just hates the sun and playing at festivals - which really is not a big deal?
@DamonRecordCo IF YOU WATCH HER ON STAGE WITH THE DEAD WEATHER AS I DID AT THE ROUNDHOUSE SHE DIDN'T SEEM SHY OR ANXIOUS SHE PUT IN ONE AMAZING PERFORMANCE
