Okay...Just imagine....The last piece of KOF you probably ever saw was XI, Maximum Impact and 06...PS2 titles...The PS3 was still a ways away....And then....You get hit with this beauty years later....My soul was SCREAMING when I first saw this trailer, man. Lol The game itself was lackluster, but what the sprites and action promised was enough to sell me on it being the next generation KOF. Glory be to KOF13 and SNK for this. :')
The one thing I always appreciated about King of Fighters was the animation. It's so smooth and fluid-like. Now that it's coming out in HD it's even better than before.
Yep. In fact, I think this game is like Neowave in that SNK really using it to test the next-gen hardware, much like Neowave was to test the Xbox and PS2. That's another reason for the small character count along with the time needed to hand draw everything over from scratch.
You could say the same thing about Street Fighter with SF II...except Street Fighter hardly ever even changes its line up because the only time the major fanbase ever thought they got it right was with SF II. While Capcom was busy re-releasing SF II 10 times SNK was actually making new games.
i think that the HD'd sprites from the original design makes the game look a whole lot better, i mean really, who DOESNT like fighting games like this? You can pull off your own combos, and attack techniques.
8- No more tag battles, you have to wait for loading screens between rounds, while its just a few secs, you still have to wait. 9- While this is not entirely bad, some characters are back to their old outfits. 10- No unlockable characters, no downloadable characters. 11- Ash Crimson: im aware that SNK wanted a stylish main character, but this is just too much. In short, this game feels like a demo rather than a full game. Want more reasons?
They delayed the game to add more characters (huge relief) I'm very happy the game is 100% hand-drawn. I like how the characters are now actually built like fighters and not like teenage hipsters.
@DICEBOY22 The main character of KoF has changed over time. Kyo Kusanagi was the main for a few years, then K' , and I think that Ash Crimson is the current main. I may be incorrect, but I think that Alba Miera was the main character in at least one of the 3D King of Fighter's games as well. I hope that helps you out :)
Graphics looks good but still not sure if they're sharp enough and a lot of the moves looks very old/standard especially for Terry and Andy. Still can't complain as it does look good. Nice little spruce up!!
Yeah, his first appearances were as a joke character, later on (KOF 2002, 2003 and KOF XI) he became a very solid fighter and i dare to say that he was at the same level of Kyo and Iori.
like you said, this is almost 2 decades ago, so no one give anything to copy a character, but in reality capcom can't suing snk for copy because Bison abylitis are identical to Athena (and psycho soldier is older than street fighter).
@@okaberintarou5020 I m glad I found this reply in due time😅 Ummmm it has been 10 years, I think I meant that Leona didn't appear in later games, probably?
@@mastermindbrain1985 Feels good to see that you're alive. xD I can't figure out what you meant. KOF XII came out in 2009. Leona has been present in every game after XII. So at the time when you commented here, there was no sequel to XII. God knows what you smoked that day. xD
Ryo Sakazaki, Robert Garcia and Yuri Sakazaki are character from Art of Fighting(1992). Dan Hibiki is a parode of them, with visual references to them and with moves much similar, but much more weak (lol)
The sprites never looked better! Even outmatches Street Fighter 3 and that Blazeblue game. You guy's may complain that their isn't enough characters, but those new sprite animation is way more advance then the previous games. From SNK wikia, I've heard that it took 7 months for them to just do Iori's animation. It may be 2D, but it's still a challenge for SNK.
I actually like the new sprites a lot, but that doesn't make up for the crap gameplay and lack of character selection when compared to previous the series' previous titles.
This game is going to be awesome and yes these are all the characters a little bit huh???There are three secret characters i live in Tokyo so i got it all ready they are Orochi Iori,Rugal and K9999
I was thinking of selling SF4 but now that Daigo own the Finals match at EVO 2009 my heart is torn. No one here plays with me and I've never owned a single King of Fighters. I like the characters and have to get use to the gameplay still though. What do you guys think it's a tough decision I think.
dude, people still play '98 think of it as 'King of Fighters XII' instead of 'the 12th King of Fighters game' you can still go back and play the older games in the series I would rather have the series evolve as a whole than just have each one have more stuff crammed into it and SNK was going for what they called 'KOF Rebirth'; they're trying to virtually start over. They're taking it back to its roots
@MrEmretti same, the dream match KOF 98 is the best IMO. but KOF XII & KOF XIII are really good "graphically"...i think they have to re-adapt the gameplay ;)
Yeah but everyone was always going to lose a favourite or two. No King, no Yamazaki, no Choi, no Vanessa, i'm kinds pissed about those. But there was always going to be a cull with a new artstyle. It's for the best. Subsequent KOF games can simply reuse the sprites from this while expanding the roster. I think Raiden made the cut just because every fighting game needs a wrestler, but I still think Tizoc would have been a more popular choice.
im a big fan of any type of fighting games ive kept track of sf and kof and im very good at sf4 but it gets boring cuz its too easy i remember kof had the most challenging AI ever CANT WAIT FOR THIS GAME plus it kinda looks like arc systems game blazblue
Because then it would be a different game.. I don't know - I think they have ENOUGH characters as it is, to add more now would just alienate people a little possibly..
when exactly did he get so damn buff and dark i like ralfs ultra punch the one that kills u in 1 hit sorry i dont know too much of kof i started liking kof this year i only have kof 98 but i do have all sf games lol im starting to like kof more
Sprites= 10/10 (although ralf looks like he used all of the steroids in MLB.) As far as animation goes, it doesn't move as good as SF3 (the best imo) and Garou: MOTW (SNK's best imo). Gameplaywise It looks too slow to be KOF, but looks can be deceiving, and the only way to know is to play. Hope it's good ( and that Ash gets what's coming to him)
Why don't you rent it and give us a feedback ? I made the mistake of buying it since im a KOF fan, but now regret it, that's why i wanted to vent my opinion regarding this game.
First too many characters bad sprites. Now great sprites small selection pool. People will always complain about something. Doesn't matter though, cause its awesome.
@Izanagidonutz I dunno...if the netplay held up it could have made something of itself. I liked playing this game against other people. But...it doesn't so I'm not going to make pointless excuses. I'm just saying as far as being a "fighting game" it was par for the course.
ive played the old KoF and SF and SF came out b4 Kof and Kof has the same controls as SF that is why Kof is a copy off SF but its still pretty good STREET FIGHTER FTW
