The King of Fighters '94: Rebout is a remake of The King of Fighters '94 features high-definition sprites in 3D backgrounds, a newer design layout, online gaming, and an new animated intro. Illustrations for this game were also made by Hiroaki. Most of the gaming mechanics and story remain the same as the original. Several characters in the King of Fighters series also make anachronistic appearances in the game's new backgrounds.

Some of the reasons is because these kind of artstyle is usually expensive and it's more expensive when KoF dream matches use to have many characters on their rosters. Just like happened to KoF XIII, it may look beautiful, but is not worth it if you won't get the investment back + good earnings through sells. That's why we had those cheap looking models on KoF XIV next.

SNK did a great job with the charactersprite handling on this one, wish they did this on their other classics as well! The 3D backgrounds are random not as great as the original 😑

she's prerendered, so technically she's both 2D and 3D and actually the 2 characters behind her are prerendered too.... uh actually most of these background characters in the Italy stage are prerendered wtf i guess drawing sprites was too much work and they got real lazy with that stage in particular

Oh, keep bringing these jewels! 94RB, 98UM, 2002UM... we need quality runs of these games. Most people stick to very classics but we need stuff from these games. Keep it up, it was golden. BTW, noticed the team saving feat was changed so now it looks more like strikers from 2000? Interesting, can something be done using those strikers in a different matter than in classic '94?

the game looks incredible and the way the player was owning the computer was disgusting. By that I mean, I couldn't believe what I was watching. If I saw them do that to any one, I would just take my quarter back and go sit in the corner and contemplate my life decisions. Great video and awesome game style.

This was supposed to come out in North America on the original Xbox, but it's release was cancelled and it stayed PS2 exclusive in Japan. The Xbox port was actually completely finished and given to review websites and magazines, but still cancelled anyway.
