Finally a PROPER random creature design video! I let my instagram followers give me suggestions and look what happened!!

Hey! Dina could they be called the Midnight Illusion beasts, Mind Twisters or Speckled winged Lagon.(lion + dragon = lagon) These strange manipulative creatures lurk mostly at night while they twist the minds of their prey into thinking that they are stuck or in pain. This leads their prey to death. They are seen as strange as they have "wings" that distracts or stuns people who see them. To manipulate their prey or predators they use their "wings" to twitch and move once the prey or predators are close enough the creatures thrust their claws into the victim intoxicating them with poison which makes them feel pain or scared. These creature are surprisingly cowardly, shy and alone, they only meet the others of their kind to breed and only attack when their hungry or feeling threatened. Males tend to fight over females using their dagger sharp teeth but spare the loser. These animals live in deep dark caves (nests / cozies) underground that they dig. Males (or luse) also fight over the neatest, prettiest or most decorated den. Females (or birds) are truly peaceful and sometimes even start small groups (flocks) with other birds. Birds tend to wait for a Male to kill her food but if shes despereate will attack. On every autumn / fall they breed and have young (driks) (dragon + chicks = driks)the parents stay together unless the drik(s) die. -If you're reading this, Thank you! ~Bye!

what if the silver spots aren't really silver, but reflective like a mirror and that's how it casts it's illusions; just by reflecting the world around it in a way that confuses onlookers

praestigia dracyurus, aka Kings of Illusion praestigia can be latin for illusion, deception, tricks, etc. dracyurus a mix of dasyurus, the genus of quoll and latin for dragon

If you want to be completely fancy, you can conjugate the Latin to: Dracyurus praestigiae (Praestigiae is now the genitive, which is the possessive form: of illusion) Also: praestigiae is actually a word that's always in the plural form, so in the end the correct form + conjugation would be: Dracyurus praestigiarum/ Praestigiarum dracyurus

scientific name: *olymorpheo illusius* - Explanation: oly: olympius because of the wings and it has to do with gods = powerful mythical kings = king of illusions... you get it. - morpheo: morphing and such the colors as well, the -eo comes from Leo, the zodiac sign depicted as a lion. - illusius: illusions

If you look directly at the "fur" it looks like wings but from peripheral vision it looks like normal fur. That's really cool.

This is fun because since it's designed around birds, it makes me think of birds of paradise with very elaborate plumage just like this little guy, and all the crazy dances and rituals they perform for their mates. Just think of this little guy dancing around like Toothless trying to attract a mate! Hahaha

Quolls are Aussie animals. Those ones are spotted quolls, also known as tiger quolls or native cats. They are fierce, feisty, marsupial carnivores and we often see them in wild life parks here in Victoria (Aus.) They are also tied for favourite native species of mine, the other being the grey headed flying fox. I am thrilled to bits that you included design elements of a quoll in your pic.

Call it The Illusion- a feared god or creature that can twist itself into any form and mimick normal animals. Imagine: a hunter goes into the woods and encounters a lion. It seems... strange. Then there’s pops and cracks as the Illusion spins it’s body back into it’s regular, demented form. love that

Okay soooo I was so happy when quoll got picked! (I don't usually find unique Aussie animals represented) Quolls might seem like these cute cuddly little things, but they're really vicious (like Tassie devils) and a menace to chickens or small animals. They're very well known for just killing all the chickens and leaving them so there are just massecured chicken corpses lying around, yeah, not pretty! 😂 But don't get me wrong, they're still adorable creatures!

Don't be too surprised by not knowing about quolls. They're far less well known than a lot of other aussie animals despite how iconic they are in many ways. Honestly, there's plenty of aussies who don't even know what they are. Like all mammals here they're marsupials. IIRC they're most closely related to the tasmanian devil! Which explains a lot seeing as they are ALSO cute but evil

I really like this dragon! As a creature of illusions, I'd imagine it using it's tail as a trap. It'd lay it on top of a rock or something and pretend it's a dead or injured bird, which would attract carrion such as vultures or coyote like creatures that is eats.

possible backstory: the king of illusions is a mischievous being that lives in villages and castles along with its victims. before it’s time as guardians, the illusionists would drive the people crazy, giving them all sorts of visions that drove some to madness or made them crave power they could never attain. some illusionists would send the people on false quests that would end up in death. however, as time went by the people learned to bribe them in ways they could eventually control them and they now guard the treasures of the land from any soul who tries to corrupt peace. although you seeing these beings is rare, experiencing their treachery is common for those who now dare. edit: idk if i rlly like this so yh any better ideas put them in the comments for her to see or something

Maybe his “mask” is an actual mask hiding something on his head?Like it folds up to reveal maybe a third eye or second jaw ?I think having the mask face be an illusion of a normal face but actually hiding something would be neat :) :P

I really like this dragon, but I would personally use a really bright yellow for more contrast, made him into a shape shifter and I would take levitation as an ability to move other objects. I would hike to know how other people would use these prompts.

"(At the Quoll) Where have you been my whole life?" They've been in my backyard in Tasmania, Australia! Hehe! They're so dang cute! I love your work Dina!
