For reference, the weight on his back is 700 lbs. He also uses wraps, but they aren’t really offering that much assistance because you can’t afford to tighten your wraps very tight when you’re squatting high reps like that.
@@barrymckockinner9292taller is a disadvantage as you have to use more energy per rep bc u have to move it further (proof is the work done equation in physics)
@@web_082 you are so wrong, if being tall didn't matter in strong man you would see more guys under 6'2". Fingals fingers, the yoke, dead lifts, atlas stones, farmers carry, all favor the taller competitor and thats just off the top of my head. Height is one of the most important factors in strongman. You're trippin
@@web_082 also you are specifically wrong for this event because they set the safety bar to each individuals height so everybody had the same range of motion in comparison to their own height.
Yeah, and a lot of people will want to scream “steroids” but as people have been saying for a while, steroids are a boost. They don’t do the work for you, you still have to put in the work. So even if he did do steroids, he also has great genetics AND he’s been lifting since he was like 13 yrs old, so the steroids probably only made it slightly easier, if he did do steroids.
@@MikeJohnMentzerwell it’s possible he did have them, surprisingly quite a few strongmen competitors will be like 380+ and have abs on top of their stomachs just from how much training they do.
Eddie is great at every lift. He's a great bencher and a great squatter so you would think his deadlift wouldn't be that great with his leverages yet he's one of the few who has pulled half a ton. And he's a master of the overhead press as well. Absolutely crazy.
I cannot understate how fucking incredible being strong like this is. Like the sheer amount of blood sweat and tears it took for Eddie to become this machine is so inspiring.
It's absolutely insane what you can achieve when you really dedicate yourself to something. The strongest man tournaments showcase some of the most impressive feats of human capability, watching them shred heavy weights like that is truly dumbfounding and humbling
Bro eddie held the deadlift world record we all know this, his shoulders are the strongest i have ever seen never seen anything like that in my life and as jay says a machine on squats, honestly where was eddie weak, and yk alot of the strongman watchers say he is overrated... cmon now he was amazing
Only stupid people would criticise Eddie's static strength. Its his moving events that people talk about and although he was still an excellent mover in certain events in strongman. Yoke, atlas stone runs, truck pull. There were also many events he wasn't particularly great at, which is why many say certain athletes are more complete than he is. Because they're close enough statically to get top 3 and also there on all the moving events too. But there's definitely an argument to say Eddie had the best overall static strength ever.
@@Adam-cs3ldhe also wasn’t very good at the more traditional strongman events like dumbell, fingals fingers, any throwing event, which aren’t really moving just more technical. Insanely strong for the base lifts however
@@jaket2274 True, although he did hold the British record in the Dumbell for a while with I think around 125kg, possibly slightly more which isn't terrible. I remember him getting one rep at the cyr Dumbell at the ASC 2015 and that was 124kg. But yes still he wasn't getting top 3-5 in these events.
Yep Eddie holds Deadlift world record and Hafthor's won't count cause he did it in his private gym Also I remember Eddie making Axle Press Record of 216 Kg look so easy..his shoulders are out of this world !
@@MikeJohnMentzer You can say it doesn't count as an official world record but seriously mate, only an idiot would say it was faked in terms of weight. Even Eddie himself said that he didn't mean it like that, just that it wasn't an official world record.
What’s more amazing about Eddie is he would train going up to competition with no wraps/belts or anything with this weight, so that he could only use them at WSM.
Yeah I noticed the wiggle on the way up, and the barbell rises on the right slightly faster than it does on the left (it's tilted on the rise). That being said... I can only manage a sixth of this weight 😂 strict form or otherwise.
@@willo9372in terms of what? Overall strength: yes goes to Eddie Form: Tom was ASS TO GRASS LITERALLY Leg Development: Once again Platz take cake Additionally Platz squatted 525 for 23 reps and most power lifters struggle to do this because they gas out I would love to see Eddie try this if he already hasn’t Eddie is very strong and I have respect for the man but Platz is Leg Daddy fr 🦵👑
