to everybody wondering about the boulder at 1:08: the best explaination is that this is the game's failsafe mechanism for the player getting caught on movable objects. in other words, the game self destructs movable objects if it thinks there's no escape for the player. i'll try and find more also get hyped for the chain of memories experience
Imagine Malificents perspective of her dragon fight. Like, just... To her she's like 2 seconds into the fight and suddenly the weight of a thousand earths is thrown upon her..
"Sora, take care of her" *Nods in agreement to abandon and completely forget about her so she can get kidnapped by organisation XIII only to be rescued by Riku, the one he's making this promise with*
@@NitroRonin23 I would argue that this is when Sora became noticeably stupid since he spent the entirety of CoM brushing off his SELECTIVE AMNESIA and getting duped, and then KHII saying that anyone wearing a black cloak must be in Organization XIII despite the fact that he's already seen Mickey wearing one.
@@crocuslament9680 Kh2 sora wasnt that stupid either. Its mostly DDD sora tht was a moron. COM sora a bit of a weird case, his mind was effed too much at one point. Funnily enough kh1 sora was probably the least naive xD(though he seemed the most gullible). He smelled a villain from a mile away.
Spiriten XIII I mean, it kinda sorta has aged. Most of the worlds looking back are either boring busywork, confusing and claustrophobic labyrinths that are easy to get lost in, or in Alantis & Monstro’s case, both, the camera is far too close to the player which makes the platforming and aerial combat harder than they should be, and while I still like the story some parts are too cheesy even by Disney standards. That being said, I also think this game hasn’t aged as badly as people say it has? It’s weird. Even if you ignore the combat in the later series, 1’s is still rather decent with some nice abilities, Tech depth, and good use of Magic, and while it does take a while to get to, once Cid and the Gummi Ship editor start opening up, the World travelling is nowhere near as bad as people say it is and can legitimately be entertaining. Also, like I said, the story’s still pretty damn good and the bosses can be really fun to try and beat, ESPECIALLY near the end with Hollow Bastion. I guess what I’m trying to say is, for lack of a better analogy, it’s like looking an old project you worked on for school. Sure it might’ve aged, but some parts of it you can look at it, smile at some aspects, and just admire the detail and effort that was put in regardless.
BlazingWaters what you call busywork and boring I call *the game actually having something to do other than combat* it’s really something the entire series has been missing ever since and it’s quite sad it’s taken up until 3 (seemingly) to have some kind of platforming return and chests that aren’t shoved in your face and other such interactables in the worlds. What’s busywork is command melding and messing with dream eaters to take up like 10% of your game time first time through cause you don’t know what does what after all.
BlazingWaters When it came to the gummi ships, most people hated the initial editor and the gimmi ships in general, so no one bothers with it. First impression is a thing.
Superslash I’m not in the belief of someone personally enjoying something automatically making it a non-issue for most others. A little over half the worlds, for some people like me, ARE an issue regardless. Wonderland and Deep Jungle have about 3-4 rooms you constantly go back and forth in with annoying and precise platforming just to advance the plot in specific locations. Halloween Town’s second half with Oogie’s castle becomes a nightmare for combat due to how aerial attacks work with the added effect that you need to be specific with magic if you plan it that way or else waste MPs and Ethers. Neverland‘s a claustrophobic mess with the camera swaying around like a drunk person every time you do anything. Atlantis and Monstro are the biggest sticking points, so I don’t feel like they need to be repeated of their obvious flaws. I think the only worlds that don’t have obnoxious level design are Agrabah, Traverse Town, Hollow Bastion, Olympus, and End Of The World. While I do think some of the world traversing later in the series have issues, I don’t think the lack of platforming is one of them. If anything, that was one of the better changes.
@@darkdjinniumbrage7798 I always go +shield -sword but on my last play through I went +staff -sword and let's just say that I died on bosses that I've never died on b4
to this day it's still very funny to me that Maleficent said both "the Heartless did this to Kairi" and "i can give you the power to control the Heartless" to Riku and he didn't suspect anything
@@three_seashells I know I'm super late to the party, but I wanted to write that in the german dub of this game the vocie actor for Riku is the same person that does the dub for Anakin Skywalker and I always found the coincidence amusing.
I miss how when you win boss fights in KH1, the screen goes into an acid trip. p.s. I laughed my ass off when you added the scenes from BBS 0.2 in there.
For some reason I never used it, even with my mage character. I just used a lot of thunder, and a bit of fire. And once I got to Hollow Bastion cure and aero got glued to my quick cast
I like how half of this is shitpost and the other half is highlighting just how legitimately amazing the game could get despite some of the clunkier combat by today's standards. I REALLY hope that since the final world of 3 is supposed to be Nomura's new favorite that we can ever hope to match the hype that was hollow bastion.
nahnah390 seriously tho hollow bastion *is* hype, “The end of the world” didn’t need to be a thing or at least they shouldn’t have scrapped whatever ideas they had for it, you can tell there was supposed to be more. The music, the rooms, the puzzles, the bosses, it truly is a final dungeon like no other we’ve had in the series since, goddamn handhelds.
@@fouednz250 Yeah, that fight was the stuff of nightmares, but damned if you didn't feel transcendental levels of accomplishment after you finally conquered it.
Hollow Bastion was hype, but it was really freakin frustrating. Specifically those glider heartless. Trying to hit them or getting hit by them frequently sent me over the edges during required encounters and forced me to climb from the bottom.
Dragon Maleficient op pls nerf, unless you use the glitch. I completed the kingdom key only, no deaths, no items, less than 12 hours it was i think challenge. If i didnt use the bug i never had the platinum trophy. PD: By glitch i mean the drake's back not what is shown in the video, never knew about that.
13:08 Sora "ZA WARUDO TOKI O TOMARE" One second has passed, two second have passed, three second have passed, four seconds have passed, fourteen seconds have passed, thirthy four seconds have passed *Maleficent break out of it* Sora "IT'S TOO LATE, ROAD ROLLER DA" Yes you can @ me now
You could also use Dumbo and Mushu. Dumbo is free damage as you are invincible. Mushu is a little tricky to use as you need to dodge a little. Genie also does decent nukes
A year late, but that shot of Sora laying back down and seeing Aqua instead of Kairi honestly broke my heart. It was like Ven reminiscing through Sora’s eyes.
"Although my heart may be weak, it's not alone. It's grown with each new experience, and it's found a home with all the friends I've made." glad you found some sora _sobs_
The sudden use of Impend during the Hollow Bastion part caught me by pleasant surprise. Great track, fits the mood. Glad you played the whole thing lmao
me taking the staff and giving up the sword somehow equates to me not wanting second chance and sliding dash when i need it lol. honestly, the choice at the beginning is not the great
Sora: "I don't need a weapon. My friends are my power!" Keyblade: "WAIT NO YES YOU DO JEEZ FINE I'LL COME BACK I'M NOT ABOUT TO LET YOU DIE FOR THE SAKE OF A PRANK"
well,at least kairi was an actual plotpoint.in kh2,its like "you ALREADY wanted to go to the world that never was to stop the org,so there was really no reason to bring her into the mix"

@@astolfofansunny4047 gravity deals a percentage of an enemy's max health and does more to foes with high hp (like bosses), stop just made sure she couldn't attack at all (i thought all bosses were immune to stop before i saw this). Gravity is capable of killing her, but i think he went for the air combo to flex in a way.
After seeing a certain fleeting memory during the “puppets with hearts” line and Aqua replacing Kairi at the start, I’m surprised you didn’t take the obvious cheap shot with “there can’t be two Keyblade masters!”
I learned two things: Dio is Maleficent's worst nightmare and Sora is a confirmed JoJo, and I apparently forgot how matter works and never tried freezing bubbles lol I also hope we get a bit of KH1's dna in KH3 for combat. A very underrated iteration due to it's age and it's younger brother being flashier and hotter than it.
You can mash X to win. But technically, you can mash X in every fight ever. They did however, make Sora as powerful in the air as he is on the ground, making his floatyness a bit acceptable and not kinda disadvantaging you if you try an air combo. Also, you can literally store formcjanges by changing to a different keyblade midfight, and you can even grind on the ice trail blizzard leave wth are you talking about? Saying they dumbed down the game is not accurate.
The first kingdom hearts game is a classic I have no problem going back to. It still fun to play to this day and the start of an kickass franchise. Of course back when I played this game on the ps2, I wasn't too big a fan of the game. The game was incredibly hard for me, especially when I fought Clayton and stealth sneak. Which had me raging hard when I discovered you can't skip cutscenes. This was after all before the HD releases, so I had to sit through the cutscenes every time Sora died. As the years passed I grew to like the game much more and I learned to be more strategic. Since then I've come to love this game and I have no problem going back to it. It a great start to the kingdom hearts series.
man you really made me remember why i love kingdom hearts 1 thank you so much for the shitposty parts and also the stuff that let the game shine actually made me laugh and cry tbh
7:07 I was expecting a "You've made your last delivery kid. Sorry you got twisted up in this scene. From where you're kneeling it must seem like an 18-carat run of bad luck." "Truth is... the game was rigged from the start."
After closing the door to darkness and ditching Kairi, Sora decided to then take some time before going on his journey to find the King and Riku. This included returning to Hallow Bastion and fighting some hooded homeless man, and going back to Traverse Town to help Yuffie with her problems by using his “keyblade,” if you know what I mean. Edit: Wow, I didn’t think I’d get this many likes for a comment like this. Thanks you guys!

It probably goes without saying, but wow this made me realize Sora is still pretty powerful without a keyblade in hand. I remember how upset I was playing kh1 when Sora is stripped of his keyblade and teammates, but looking back on it now, it made me realize how inspirational it was when Sora held onto his resolve seeing Beast's determination to bring Belle back. Without power or anyone by his side, he still chose to fight. Idk, just my corny observations ig 😅
Another small secret some people might not know is in Hollow Bastion when you're at the small hallway with the door that you put the Heartless emblems, on the right there is a small ledge that you can hang on to that leads to a treasure chest.
I went through the whole game with +sword and -shield, and I only used the kingdom key. But tbh I still kinda suck sometimes and die in really stupid ways.
11:40 it's a cool moment but I wished Sora gets the keyblade after he beat up Riku to prove his point that he don't need the keyblade, and that don't ultimately prove your worth at that moment
Stickman Sham you continue to surprise me,I really didn't know you could destroy that boulder like that I've learned something. Well so kingdom hearts chain of memories experience confirmed?
Oh God, that Lock, Shock, and Barrel fight...just jumping and spamming Blizzard. And then Donald and Goofy continue to vent all our anger on these kids...on the least guilty one. Also, I now realize just how ridiculously OP magic can be in this game. I had no idea Dragon Maleficent was vulnerable to both Gravity AND Stop.
It's funny how the lore says that the keyblade was to end up with Riku originally on Destiny Island, and they basically drive that point home by it having the same color scheme as his clothing, the blue ring on the blade, the black handle, the yellow handguard, kinda neat
